My husband and I came here to celebrate our 35th anniversary. However this really is not suitable for this purpose. There are no locks on the bedroom doors and breakfast is just fruit toast and cereal. The main gripe is the rooms are NOT cleaned on a daily basis and although we stayed four nights the room was only cleaned... More

We booked with booking .com and at no point does it say this is a Quaker meeting place. We are not Quakers if honest we did not realise it was a Quaker house retreat until the morning when we noticed leaflets and no cooked breakfast! As the establishment is vegetarian which was great for me as I am a veggie... More

You need to understand what Claridge House is about if you are staying here. I am not a Quaker but had stayed here years ago for a personal retreat and wanted to go somewhere for a few days so that I could relax and get away from day to day life. I stayed as a B&B guest and not as... More

My husband and I booked this through booking dot com and it gave no mention to it being a Quaker house. The down sides were: no locks on any bedroom door, no bin in the room, we booked a double but got two twin beds pushed together but they didn't meet in the middle due to frame work, no milk... More

Dear Emma, Thank you for choosing Claridge House and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I was very sorry to learn that your stay with us was unsatisfactory. We re-opened our doors on the 1st August after an extensive refurbishment programme and unfortunately we have had teething problems. Thank you for bringing these issues... More

I stayed at Claridge House as part of a weekend retreat. It was peaceful, calming, comfortable and homely and the food was excellent. The bedrooms were spacious and bright. The gardens were pretty. I was slightly sad to leave after the wekend and return to the hustle and bustle but I left feeling rested.

I have been coming to Claridge House for over 20 years. Although it has changed little in that time it provides consistently good hospitality and quiet sanctuary from the busyness of the outside world. As other reviewers have indicated the vegetarian foods is superb. The cooks are always experimenting and shatter any illusions that vegetarian food is boring. It is... More

Claridge House offers simple rooms which are clean and airy with a sink. They provide towels including your own bath mat. The shared bathrooms are clean and there was plenty of hot water. They provide a kettle and as much tea and coffee as you want with no extra charge. Filter water is readily available. The food is vegetarian and... More

I have stayed at Claridge House several times. Often by myself when attending a meditation workshop or similar. This is a very special place, with a very tranquil atmosphere and I have always felt revived after a stay there and sleep very, very well. The food is vegetarian but always very wholesome, tasty and generously proportioned.

Claridge House is a Quaker guest house open to all and offering a chance to get away from the stresses of modern life. The garden is gorgeous - my favourite seat was by the pond. My room was large and comfortable with a view over the garden. The rooms are old fashioned and there are no en-suite rooms but there... More

Lovely quiet and peaceful vegetarian Quaker centre. No TV, no computer, no telephone- just a small library and a cosy sitting room and a wonderful garden. I have stayed here many times mostly attending courses (such as yoga, Alexander Technique, Buteyko, Reiki and others). I have also stayed here just for rest and reflection. The food is excellent and very... More
