Outstanding food, respectful hosts, spectacular landscapes await the lucky ones staying at Ayanat House. We stayed for four nights at the end of five weeks travelling around India (November 2015). The backwaters are a stroll from the house, with fine walking bicycling, boating, bird watching on site. Johnny is a very knowledgable farmer, and grows many varieties of spices and... More

We recently had the real privilege of staying at Ayanat House Homestay in mid-November (We were travelling with friends) It was a blissful, peaceful place, tucked away in a small village, on a river and with lush Kerala spice, fruit, coconut trees on the landscape. The rooms were spacious, and certain areas had been renovated, but very much in keeping... More

Johnny and Rani were welcoming, friendly and articulate hosts. They both know so much about the history, politics, and culture of India--our dinner conversations were not only fascinating but lots of fun--Johnny is a true storyteller --funny and charming. The house is spotless, architecturally and historically very interesting with big windows overlooking gardens of exotic fruit, spice and nut trees . We picked cashews... More
