After checking out of the Marriott Ocean Club due to awful service and everything being closed despite all of the other resorts being open, we decided to save our trip and move to the Ritz for the remainder of our stay and I'm so glad we did! Our suite was beautiful, impeccably clean and very welcoming. Speaking of welcoming, they are so warm and accommodating from valet, to front desk and bell service the minute you arrive. The pools are beautiful and our server Justin was excellent! They make you feel special even during Covid and that's really something to be proud of. Two cheers to the Ritz, the gold standard on how to treat their guests and operate during these crazy times we are living in. We will be back!
This is my fifth visit to this gorgeous resort and it is better than ever. For this visit I stayed in a 4th floor residential unit facing the pool with an expansive view of the ocean, RC resort and Kapalua. Even with the pandemic-related operating restrictions, the staff and management ensured that we had the best possible guest experience- even better than my previous visits! This resort is as beautiful as ever- well appointed, well maintained and well managed. We had meals at all of the restaurants including poolside, coffee shop, bar and room service. In every case the presentation, food and service were fabulous. Our meal at the Banyan Tree was nothing short of perfection. The room furnishings were refreshed and select elements of the pool and lobby area had been renovated since my last visit in 2018. All of the common areas were pristine, inviting and comfortable. The pool was heated which was very welcome with cooler mornings in January. The chair loungers (for the pool) were easy to reserve and towels (for beach and pool) were plentiful. I had one spa service (a massage) which was spectacular. This Ritz Carlton has thoughtfully and carefully modified many of its practices, policies and protocols in observance of the laws and mandate related to the pandemic- keeping in mind the safety of all and the comfort of their guests. All restaurants offered contact free menus; food was packaged and presented individually; every staff member always wore a mask and gently reminded guests to do the same; common areas/surfaces were wiped down frequently and mindfully; housekeeping and in-room delivery was contactless; signage was everywhere reminding of social distancing policies and restrictions (i.e. 2 max. on elevator); hand sanitizer, masks, sanitizing wipes were readily available throughout the property. Some services (i.e. valet parking, spa pool) were not available and we were notified in advance of our visit. Overall I felt comfortable and protected. All of this, yet nothing compares its best asset- THE AMAZING RC KAPALUA STAFF!! Our visit was truly flawless from check-in through our departure. Every staff member greeted us by name, with a smile, remembered our preferences and found ways to make every aspect of our visit pleasant and exceptional. The team at the bell stand were the first to greet you and the last to see you off- always with handy tips, directions, an umbrella and cold bottles of water. The restaurant staff were polite, gracious, engaging and knowledgable about the food. Housekeeping provided meticulous cleaning, were very responsive to our requests for robes, coffee and other sundries and found a way to make our room orderly each day from the chaos of our belongings. The great poolside and beach experiences would not have been possible without the incredibly attentive chair/towel/dining staff. The concierge, lobby and spa staff were fantastic as well. Special thanks to Michelle, Marina, Eavyn, Margie and Erin for the over the top service! It is hard to believe that the RC Kapalua is 20+ years old but thanks to it fine staff, management and leadership, it is at its best! Thank you RC Kapalua for the best vacation ever (and for ordering that fantastic Maui January weather)- we hope to see you again later this year!…
This was our third visit to this property and they have made some nice improvements to the pool area- now negative edge with updated day bed options ($150 a day) and cabanas ($450-$550 a day).. like most upscale properties on Maui- you now can make reservations in advance for complimentary pool loungers as well as the cabanas and day beds- there is no longer an adults only pool- which was disappointing although the staff did say an infinity edge pool is in plans to be built this year on the large lawn overlooking the ocean.. (currently all jacuzzis in Hawai’i are closed at hotels due to covid restrictions) so that will be a big improvement once built... our room offered a wonderful ocean view and their television upgrade is awesome- easy sign on to Netflix and also offered mirroring for any other streaming service you have on your phone or IPAd- easy to use as well!! We stayed over Christmas and the resort did a great job ensuring everyone woke up to a stocking full of goodies hanging in their door handle- great touch... The only downside was a major storm hit the island and knocked out power for 8 hours and worse- the AC for over 18 hours- may have been longer but we checked out.. we hope they got it fixed quickly! This side of Maui is windy and cooler- so keep that in mind if traveling in winter months- we love the cooler weather but some may not...…
Let’s start by saying this is a lovely property. Also worth noting we paid entirely on points. If we’d paid the 1000 per night room rate, I think we would be a lot less positive here. 1) everything is relative. We moved to the four seasons on the other side of the island (which we are paying $$$ for and is worth it). 2) this side of the island is not as sunny or warm or populated 3) the ritz is a great jump off point to explore cool places like Honolua, Kapalua Bay, Dragons Teeth, etc. 4) a lot of things were closed for the pandemic. Like jacuzzis. And the gym (fantastic gym with peloton) closes at 1 everyday for some reason. 5) it’s a very nice hotel. A bit old but still nice. All of the food we ate was great. Love the breakfast burrito at the coffee shop. Nice views. Nice beach. 6) if you’re staying on this side of the island for a few days and you aren’t paying full freight and you don’t expect the four seasons, you will have a great stay. PS didn’t play golf but the course looked great and the GM was fantastic. Aloha …
My family and I spent 8 nights in a condo in Ka anapali but decided to cap off our trip with a quick day at the Ritz to enjoy the pool and have a room to get cleaned up in before our red-eye back to the mainland. We checked into our cabana early, and Robert B made sure we were set up with everything we needed. He was always present to check on us throughout the day and make sure our expectations were being exceeded. On the food side - Miko provided top-notch service all day long. Even at the pool, the hotel is taking COVID seriously and asking guests to follow the local rules. In speaking with some of the staff throughout the day, they mentioned that the property owners have gone above and beyond to try and take care of furloughed employees even 9 months into COVID. That’s just another reason the Ritz and Marriott will continue to earn my business.…
