We stayed in the monsoon lodges for 3 nights on our honeymoon. We loved the open top safari style bus that takes you from the rooms to the restaurants/beach, and saw lots of deer, monkeys and other wildlife on our journeys. The food was very good, although the most expensive we’ve encountered in Bali/Lombok so far. We arranged the romantic private balinese BBQ beach dinner in a gazebo by the water which was fantastic, the food was delicious and plenty of it. I would recommend breakfast at the Bali Tower over the beach, as there were too many flies by the water. However it is a shame that the restaurant is on the lower level of the tower, as the view is blocked by the trees. Special mention to Libra our waiter on several occasions, including the bbq dinner - he was very attentive and especially helpful when I was suffering from a cold and he gave me some ginger tea to help unblock my nose. The staff made the effort to learn our names which is always a nice touch. Finally, on our last night we had a lovely personalised surprise from housekeeping to celebrate our honeymoon- the room was decorated with fresh flowers, a note, a gift and chocolate brownie on the bed. The hotel often left little cards with nice personal and sentimental messages that I’e rarely seen done so much in other hotels and made it a very welcoming stay. The only disadvantages are that all activities (besides walking through the park), like Centre Parks are charged as extra and are expensive, so unfortunately we didn’t do any. Also, the hotel is remote, to some this might not be a problem, but we did feel a little ‘stuck’ as we could only stay within the resort and walk between the restaurant and our room. But as long as you are aware of this when booking, you will have a lovely stay as we did. It was a unique and comfortable stay, with great service.

We (couple, 51+52) stayed at a Beach Villa for 4 nights. The resort has a strange set up with seperate structures, reception and Restaurant in The Bali Tower, cheaper rooms (Monsoon lodge), 600 m away from the reception, the beach villas, a 10 min drive from the reception and 1 exclusive Residence (3 BR Villa with Butler), which we have not seen. Transfers are handled by old, pretty beat-up Minibusses, Safary Style with an open air upper deck seating area. Looked a bit like the Jurassic parc Safary vehicles., dirt paths were in bad shape, so the ride is very rough. The beach is not a swimmable beach, which creates one big drawback, it's too shallow, the only place you can shwim from is the rather small water sports jetty and a rather muddy small "beach" down a dusty path, next to the jetty. Not very pittoresque. No pool by the beach. Vegetation in that area is rather dry and leafy, not at all lush, this created a rather dreary atmosphere, it is probably a matter of taste, but was not for us. Reminded us of Germany after a long and dry summer... We stayed in Beach Villa 305, the one with the most amount of trees in front, the dried leaves were everywhere, as you can hopefully see on the picture. Other main point of criticism is the overall lack of cleanliness, cushions were stained, stained towel on arrival in the villa, the outdoor bathrooms was rather messy... The resort has a problem with ants, they were everywhere, right in front of our villa the sand was covered with them, and we had them on the daybed, wooden deck, and all over the shower walls. Restaurants: The beach restaurant Pantai had a nice setting, over the water, good sunset views, the other restaurant in the Bali Tower was pretty stuffy and hot, we only had one lunch there. Food overall was ok - good, but nothing really special, and quite pricey in comparision to the normal Bali restaurant in the North / North West. We asked ourselves what this resort is trying to be, Spa Resort, Dive Resort, Beach Resort, hideaway, unfortunately it could not win us over in neither of these categories... I went on a two tank dive with the resort to Pulau Menjangan, overall pleasant enough but nothing special and too expensive for what it offers. Animals: We did see deers on the path and on the beach on several occasions, there are also monkeys who invade the trees in front of the beach villas in the afternoon. Overall the rather dreary vegetation was not for us and the resort vibe did not come across as luxurious but rather forlorn. Given the hefty price tag (350 USD per night) we would not come back, but depending on your taste the resort may still represent an interesting stop-over option for a Bali traveler who wants to discover this western part of the island (there are more reasonably priced alternatives nearby though).

Dear Seally, thanks for your feedback. We are certainly not for everyone and being inside a National Park offers truly diverse experiences for people who love nature and wildlife. For instance our Pool is located inside the jungle by our Monsoon Lodge and has a complete difference experience to offer than the beach by the jetty or the Beach Villas itself. Furthermore is the area we are part of 382 hectares large and each of our 4 locations have their own charm. To move around inside a Safari Car adds in the end to the experience as well and a modern asphalt road would not represent well the environment inside a National Park, however we are in progress of advancing our roads in designated areas. This part of West Bali itself is known to be the most dry part of Bali and once the rainy seasons ends (April/May) the vegetation completely changes, and this quite fast too. Therefore experiences will change depending on the time you come and visit this part of Bali in a National park. And within each period also the wildlife has its own behaviours and visibility, however there are not many places where this is all so well preserved and this as well is part of the National Park to protect it. Everything within the West Bali National Park remains to preserve nature and keep it us untouched as possible to avoid disturbances as you can see in various Parks around the world. Our location is something for nature lovers and people who seek peace in an unique environment to get away from the day-to-day hassle of life. We appreciate your detailed feedback given within your review and thanks you a lot for your visit. Ingo & The Menjangan Family Operations Manager

A great resort built with environmental friendly material. A family with children can also enjoy to stay as they provide activities for family and as an education for the children to appreciate and nurture the nature. Staffs are friendly and helpful. We had an enjoyable stay and I definitely recommend this beautiful resort to anyone who loves the nature.

This place came highly recommended to us by friends. And we were not disappointed. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing stay in and around nature, in an area of Bali that is a bit off the beaten path, then this could be a great place for you. We loved pretty much everything about this place: the welcoming friendly staff, the sounds of nature (birds, monkeys), the pool, the beach, the wandering deer, the snorkeling along the house reef, the offered activities and the good drinks and food. We stayed in a quiet traditional-styled room around the pool and were happy there. What made our stay just that bit more enjoyable was the personalized handwritten (and drawn) notes upon arrival and departure. :-) Thank you to all the staff for the wonderful 4 days we were able to stay there!

We stayed for 6 days in one of the Beach Villas and were so pleased with our choice. The hotel it self is located within the national park which makes a unique location. There was not many Beach Villas which added to a feeling of exclusivety. The staff quickly knew us and we felt very welcome. The rooms are nice and simple, but don’t expect a Hilton Luxury resort type - the standard is High, but it’s more luxury in the sense that it’s comparably small and feels like a hidden gem from the rest of Bali. The food is quite nice! Do go snorkeling / diving - it’s a great place to see a lot of different species under Water. All in all, we highly recommend the place if you’re searching for a relaxed holiday /part of your holiday.

Dear Jeanette A, thanks for your feedback. We are truly happy to read how much you enjoyed your stay at our Beach Villa as well as your 6 days within the West Bali National Park. All our staff enjoyed reading your review and feels proud that you had such a wonderful experience. And it is very true to say we are a hidden gem within the National park and certainly an amazing difference to most places and therefore unique in its way. Our goal is to provide high quality embodied into the nature without being of any disturbance to plants and the wildlife; could say we are also guests here. Diving and/or snorkeling is a must-do here and it is great to know you enjoyed this activity a lot; certainly one of the best things to do here. We hope to welcome you back soon for another escape and peaceful time at The Menjangan. Ingo & The Menjangan Family Operations Manager
