This was my second stay at White Rocks and I loved it even more than the first time, if that is possible! We had a sea view room which was overlooking the public beach (not blocked by anything) and our room was always kept clean. The staff were all so lovely and accommodating, coming to help us within seconds when we were unable to work out the safe! We thoroughly enjoyed spending our days on the private beach, it is beautiful and peaceful. Yes, the water is rocky but there is one part in the middle which has a patch of sand which means you can get in with ease, don't let the rocks put you off. The beach is excellent for snorkelling and some fish come up to the surface quite close to the shore so everyone can see them. The food in the restaurant was stunning like last time, lots of variety and it all tasted delicious. Make sure you have a drink at any of the bars to watch the sunset; amazing! Thank you White Rocks for another fabulous stay.

The worst experience of our lives. Don't be fooled by its exterior. The sea view room was lovely but the other rooms overlook a busy main road and no view. The private beach was tiny and rocky. The sunbeds and umbrellas were in an appalling state and very uncomfortable. The private beach was a the bottom of a steep hill and the beach bar was at the top and very overpriced for a microwaved pizza. The staff were miserable and argued with each other in the a la carte restaurant when asked to split the bill because they didn't know how to (very unprofessional). The food was okay but the dress code in the main restaurant is a joke. Women can wear whatever they like and show their bum cheeks if they really want to and men can dress just like they came off a building site as long as they do not show their toes. So it's bums out and toes in. The staff seemed unhappy to be there and be very wary of the Maitre D as he doesn't tell the truth. There are so many better places to stay in Kefalonia, steer clear of this pretentious hotel. We look forward to reading the managements usual denial and shirking of their responsibility. It would be nice if they are going to keep the archaic dress code that it's applied to both sexes.

White Rocks Hotel is situated between the coast road and the sea, approximately 15 minutes brisk walk from the centre of the linear resort of Lassi. 30 metres of this walk was along the edge of the road, with no footpath. Worth noting if walking with young children. We stayed at White Rocks during the first week of October. The hotel closed for the season on the day of our departure, so it was probably no more than 30% full. Due to the design and layout of the buildings, a critical consideration when booking a holiday at White Rocks is the choice of room, particularly in the busy seasons. The main choice is between traditional rooms in the main body of the hotel, or staying in a ‘Bungalow ’in the grounds. Bungalows offer more of a sense of independence, but are some distance from the main hotel. Important at meal times if it’s raining and/or dark. Some bungalows have their own swimming pool. Some ‘Sea View’ bungalows are nowhere near the sea, but there is a view of the water in the distance. Try to view a plan of the resort to decide which bungalow fits your needs. Decisions are necessary also when staying in a room in the main hotel. Some rooms, with balconies, face North towards the main road, which is bordered with trees and cliffs. Other balcony rooms face South towards the sea and some spectacular sunsets. Your choice! To the West of the main body of the hotel is what could be described as a ‘wing’. It’s attached to the main block, but in high season this ‘wing’ feature may be important to you. Directly below the balconies of all rooms in the main body of the building is a bar/terrace complex. The terrace and bar overlooking the sea closed for the season on 1st October, leaving only the ‘Lobby’ bar and its outside terrace open. The potential for noise below (and cigarette smoke) in high season could be an issue when relaxing on your balcony or sleeping with the sliding window open. Not an issue for us in low season. No problem at all. In high season?...... If you are bothered by this then maybe consider a room in the ‘wing’. No bars or terraces below, but some balconies may have marginally less privacy than others, depending on the floor location. Our room was a good size and very clean and bright indeed. A great sea view from the balcony, with table and chairs for two. There was a large, comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities and a mini bar. (See other posts about ‘The Rules’, including the ‘dress code, but these were not an issue for us). What seemed like millions of light switches providing an infinite number of lighting combinations! A couple of minor points about the adequately sized bathroom (with double basins). There was no walk-in shower. Just a bath that doubled as a shower. Personally, I thought that the bath was unnecessary and that a nice shower unit would have been better. Never mind! Second, was a matter which may not bother some, but did bother us. There is a window in the bathroom wall which is in direct line of sight between the toilet and the head of the bed. The window is slightly mirrored and is covered with a thin latticed blind, in an attempt to preserve some ‘privacy’. This works fine, unless the bathroom light is on, when there is no privacy whatsoever. We worked around this and I heard that there are similar issues in the bungalows, but that window is totally unnecessary. The breakfast menu is varied and provides for most tastes. The buffet dinners were superb. The wine list was reasonable, but the current weakness of the pound against the euro has an impact on prices. House wine was available by the glass and was perfectly drinkable, if not as good as the bottles. All staff were friendly and warm. We didn’t experience any of the issues reported on some other posts. They were a credit to the hotel. If you engaged with them, they were happy to have a short natter, but would not intrude if you chose not to go beyond the formalities. The limitations that come from the frenzy of high season may influence this though. White Rocks does have some peculiarities; the layout, a few rules and the choice of location on the complex, but we would return again without a second thought.

My husband booked us a holiday for my 60th Birthday treat. Went horrible wrong!!! We were accused of breaking toughened glass in our room and forced to pay for it. We were not even in the room at the time. The Police were called out as we refused to pay for damages. We were treated like common criminals, accused of being rowdy and drunk. My husband was suffering from cellulitis at the time and could hardly walk. Worse experience of our life. We have been on many holidays but never been treated in this manner. The customer service department of the White Rocks were very unhelpful as were Jet2 who we booked the holiday through.
