This is a beautiful place to stay in Truro. We were given a room in the new 'courtyard' which was newly renovated in June. The room itself was fantastic but it should be noted it is on the ground floor with the door to the outside- like a motel. I would have felt a bit better/safer not to be so... More

Stunning old nun convent converted into a hotel. History mixed with luxurious modern interiors. Super modern rooms. If staying definitely go for the suites. It will make you feel like a king/queen. Popular wedding destination - for all the right reasons. Food is outstanding. Service is unreal. You will be leaving here with a big smile on your face. It's... More

The hotel building was superb and the staff pleasant and always helpful but the food was especially delicious, with a terrific range of dishes. It was conveniently located just a five or so minute walk from the town. It was also a convenient location for other parts of the county.

Centrally located, historic grade two listed building, with garden and terrace. Originally built as a family pyre, later converted to a nunnery and more recently to an hotel. Our garden view room was spacious and very comfortable with huge bed and a bath as comfy as a sofa. We stayed 5 nights and were out most days and evenings with... More

We had the first night booked as a gift from out daughter so decided to extend the stay to make weekend of it and weren't disappointed. We upgraded the stay to the new coach house and stayed in the junior suite No. 43. Wow what a lovely room, away from the main building to avoid any unwanted noise from the... More

Stayed at the alverton on the 20th August had a excellent time. Food is good, venue is good, rooms excellent and clean stayed in the new courtyard. Only downside no lift in main building due to grade 2 listed some disabled friends found a little awkward using stairs in main building. But other than that highly recommended.

I am a local so know the hotel and over recent years have enjoyed it's rise back to the top of the hotels in the area. I have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the new courtyard rooms all year and a few weeks ago I finally got in one! Well done to the architect who sympathetically restored the courtyard... The hotel is in a lovely, slightly elevated location, grounds not extensive but look great. Main church-like building makes it more interesting than typical modern hotel. Breakfast dining area open, spacious, with a terrace. Staff all smiles, helpful. Noticeable breakfast bits: self service toasting on 3 of Britains slowest toasters; for black pudding lovers, there seems to be rationing in... More

I stayed here recently with my family as a friend was getting married. The room was very nice. We had a deluxe double, which included a separate living room to put a cot (provided) in. It was a little odd as there were no ceiling lights which made the room very dark, but otherwise very nice and recently refurbished (or... More

There is no doubt that this is a superb venue. A beautiful setting suitable for weddings and large functions. A little on the boring side, very sedate decor which is a little oppresive and depressing. Needs an interior designer to work their magic and bring some life into the place. The staff are the ones that bring this place to... More
