Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Ideal location directly opposite a very nice beach for swimming with children and a short walk from a range of market stalls and genuine restaurants where you sit on bamboo tables with your feet in the sand.
Located in the best part of Bang Sak beach, because it’s near where Thais go, not just European tourists like 1-2km to the north and south.
Hotel facilities are ageing a bit - some drains smell bad, wire doors don’t quite fit and the pool bar looked like it had not been open for several years, but it’s clean and staff are making an effort to maintain the place. Our adjoining coconut rooms in a peaceful garden setting with a good breakfast worked well for us. Monkeys harvested the coconuts while we were there and squirrels played up the trees. Nice to be separated from the bigger louder resorts.

Haadson Resort is a lovely quiet, peaceful and friendly resort. No major thrills but it is clean and comfortable with helpful and friendly staff, a swimming pool and miles of open and uncrowded beach. It is quite as it’s just north of khao lak but a few local eateries are available as well as the hotel kitchen. We booked 2 nights, stayed 4 and could have stayed longer if we had the time. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet resort. We also noticed they are responsive to previous reviews regarding faulty aircon units and paint work etc as this has all clearly been recently replaced and updated. We loved it and hope to return.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very satisfied with the stay. The hotel is located just a few meters from a lovely beach where you have access to deckchairs and parasols. The hotel itself appeared in several places very worn and with a lack of maintenance, but the nice location with a cozy jungle atmosphere and the fantastic swimming pool is a big plus. The room was large with a terrace and there was both air conditioning, a fridge and an electric kettle. Wifi worked quite well. The breakfast was arranged as a buffet and was absolutely fantastic. The staff always acted friendly and welcoming. Haadson resort is a hotel we would like to return to and therefore they also get our best recommendations.

With just few meteres away from the beach this place a paradise. Unpretentious, silent, with wonderful spa and very helpful and friendly staff. The nature is perfect here and atmosphere gives you a chance to relax, find inner peace and charge the battery for the upcoming months.

My husband and I stayed at the Haadson Resort in Khao Lak Thailand for a week over christmas 2007 and had a wonderful time (Island Villa). The resort has fully recovered from the tsunami, is very nicely designed in a modern clean asthetic that conveys warmth and luxury, and is nicely situated in a coconut plantation, within a lagoon. The location is very quiet and secluded aside a large beautiful beach. It is about 15km from Khao Lak Town and Takua Pa, but you can easily and cheapily rent a moped for day trips. The rooms are clean and bright, with indoor and outdoor showers. There is a nice pool and the restaraunt in excellent (we even received a free cooking class - and the penang curry was the best I have ever had). The staff (and owners) are super attentive and pleasant, always smiling and asking if they can be of any assistance. Lastly, the owners, knowing that our stay was part of our honeymoon, placed flowers in our room, a complimentary bottle of wine, and small gifts upon our arrival. You can use their bikes, access the internet, and have massages by the pool. We would go back and would recommend the Haadson to others looking for a peaceful, quiet, relaxing, tropical vacation by the gourgeous Andaman Sea; in the end, the hotel and the location far exceeded our expectation based on the pictures from their website.

We have just returned and feel compelled to write a report. The resort was exactly what we were looking for, relaxation, high quality accomodation, but with a local feel. We stayed a total of 10 days in one of the island villas and from day 1 felt at home. Very clean and comfortable and with only the local Sicardas to break the silence at precisely 6.40pm, we even had fireflys buzzing around in the evening!. Food quality was very high in the resort, although we mainly ate in the restaurants a stones throw away, (Bansak Gardens being favourite - deep fried prawns, chicken, masaman curry ect for around 500 Baht for two with drinks!!). We never once had any upset stomachs so is safe to eat at local restaurants! The beach is fantastic and around 2 miles long and deserted. We had many walks and even a cycle ride one mad afternoon (take lots of water and factor 30 sunscreen!). There is a 'shack' on the beach front around a mile to the left as you exit Haadson with massage, food and drink, and again very friendly. We booked through Uraiwan from ruongthong tours ltd who arranged transfers and can arrange any trips. Would certainly use them again being very professional and courtious, they even arranged to cancel our last night and get a full refund of that night -imagine doing that in the UK!!
Some 'observations':- Bansak beach is 20km from Khao Lak town so if its nightlife and busy days your looking for then you may want to stay in Khao Lak itself - but certainly not our 'cup of tea'. The distance does mean if you book trips that involve more than just yoursleves, you may be the first to be picked up and last to be dropped off which could add an hour to any other transfers and they may ask for more money. Haadson lays on afternoon transfer to Khao Lak.
On subject of trips, Dont miss Similan Islands, whether scuba or snorkelling. You can arrange one day or several days on these islands, which I would do a overnight if I went again. Uraiwan can arrange these in advance, recomend to do these when you aclimatise to the heat.
James bond island is very very busy, nice to say been there done that, but I wouldn't rush to go again, but did feel the need to watch 'The man with the golden gun' when we got home - didnt see the markets and vast amount of people in the film though :-)
Haadson has bikes to use - but why charge 100 Baht for the days use!!! - thats £1.50, hardly worth the hassle. Also internet charges of 100 baht for 45 mins. Paying £85+ per night one would expect these FOC - very minor points but just a little annoying. An amusing 'observation'... if you really want to stay on the beach with other guests, and want to use one of the 12 sunbeds in a small space, get up at 6:30am and put your towel out!!, quite funny when you have 2 miles of beach to choose.
Would highly recommend Haadson resort and the area itself and would certainly go again.

My wife and I recently spent 6 nights at the Haadson Resort. It is an extremely beautiful place to stay - located seconds from the beach, the resort is arranged around a lake that gives all the villas a sense of calm and privacy. The design of all the facilities is extremely elegant, with a contemporary Thai style.
There are many things to do in the surrounding area - the resort rent out bikes that allow you to explore the surrounding villages, beaches and waterfalls. They were also very helpful at arranging day trips - we took trips to the Khoa Sok national park to the north and a day of island hopping - both of which were wonderful.
I would definitley recommend staying here rather than the resorts closer into Khao Lak - it is easy to get around anyway, and Haadson feels far more special. Both the resort restaurant and local beach-side restaurants close by are excellent. There is a great feeling of tranquility.
We found the service to be very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Very much looking foward to returning there sometime soon!

Stayed for 5 nights, it was tranquil, peaceful and a delight to stay at. The room was good, with a good sized bed, nice bathroom, with outside bath tub. The decking area and chairs were private even with the adjacent bungalows. if your looking for some peaceful rest and relaxation then this is the place. Breakfast was good, the food served throughout the day was good and very plentiful, cheaper than more built up tourist areas. Beach was opposite the hotel, and very quiet. Get up early to reserve your beach lounger or poolside spot. Eco friendly and sustainable. A short journey from the main hub of Khao Lak town, with its great market located near the taxi rank. If you don't want to eat in the hotel there are a few small restaurants located nearby or a short stroll along the beach. Great beach to swim off. I would recommend taking a day trip to one of the nearby islands or the national park - available through the hotel. Staff were so friendly and polite, nothing was any trouble. Library was well stocked with different language titles for all. Good small spa, with excellent treatments. Only downside is the lack of ATM nearby (free bus to Khao Lak and there are lots), had to pay for the mini bar (wasn't that expense if you wanted to abuse the mini bar). The hotel overall is great. go stay, relax and enjoy the sun. The only thing lacking for me was a lack kayak hire or paddle board hire on the beach, but thats not for everyone.

I was totally impressed about Haadson Resort. The room was totally beautiful, comfortable, luxurious and the bed a dream. The Resort itself is with a loooot of green around everywhere. It is located directly at a road but no problem at all since the street has almost no traffic at all. The beach right across the street is very beautiful and large. The resort also provides sunbed at the beach and the breakfast is a dream!!! You can have everything in stunning quality eventhough it is buffet-style, you could never guess. Stuff is very beautiful too and the pool area is totally cool as well. I love it!

This was my third trip to the Haadson Resort, so that's probably a good indication of how much I like it. I actually used to have a rule not to visit the same place more than once (or else you don't end up seeing and experiencing new things), but the Haadson is my exception.
I'm not their typical guest. The majority are couples on romantic getaways or families. As a single traveller from London, England the Haadson appeals to me though as it's just the right level of luxury and seclusion to take a break away from it all.
The Haadson isn't going to be for everyone, but it's perfect if you either want to totally relax and unwind or for those who want a base from which to be independent. I fall into the latter category and rent a car to go off and explore. They offer lots of excursions and there's the daily free minibus into Khao Lak, but if you (or your kids) need entertainment, you might be better off at the Méridien or a downtown Khao Lak resort.
Personally, I'm pretty happy just relaxing on the beach... which you'll pretty much have to yourself. Bangsak beach is a wonderful natural beach. You can either stay by the resort on the beach loungers or walk in either direction to find your perfect spot. In your perfect spot, you're unlikely to see more than 10 people pass you by on an average day. You don't get that at many other resorts in the area.
On-site there's the pool, which is a nice area to relax in. You've also got the spa which was added to the resort a few years ago. It's not as cheap as the standard places in Khao Lak, but the treatments available go way beyond standard and really are proper spa treatments at a fraction of the price you' pay back home.
The restaurant is a beautiful area, especially after dark when it's all lit up. The food is probably what I'd describe as 'international Thai', in that the food is designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of international palates. If you want it 'Thai-style' then you'll need to specify that to the staff. I haven't really eaten much of the western food since I love seafood and thai food so much, so can't really comment on that. You've also got some very good local restaurants along the Bangsak promenade within easy walking distance, as well as favourite beach bar/restaurant of mine called Khai Seafood, about 30 minutes walk south along the beach.
The entire resort is beautifully designed and I've enjoyed seeing the gardens mature and evolve each time I've come back. Everything just feels 'right' and blends in around the lagoon and the surrounding nature. I've always stayed in the villas and like them very much. The positioning and gardens allow you a good level of privacy, even when out on your deck. They're quite easy to keep cool too, a blast of air conditioning, then just the fan tends to do the trick for the night. I've always found the beds very comfortable, with good quality sheets. The bathrooms are large and well planned, with an indoor shower and outdoor shower/bathtubs. At the moment you have an 'old' CRT television and a limited number of TV channels, which is nice to have but the Haadson is best if you can entertain yourself without television. It's all about relaxing, reading that book you've been saving! After the restaurant and bar close at around 11pm, it's mostly back to the villa/room and then slowly off to bed.
I really enjoy my stays at the Haadson. It's always nice to come back and see the same faces still part of the family. It's instantly familiar, but always evolving. They're always listening and making little improvements here and there. On this trip there was now free wi-fi internet, which was a welcome improvement. There are now lots more beach loungers and tendered beach frontage than before as well.
I'm sure I'll be back again and again in the years to come. I'd definitely recommend the Haadson for a nice relaxing holiday, or just for a couple of nights of R&R as part of a larger Thailand adventure.

Hi. It is quite isolated and not much to do, but very nice for relaxing. You need your own transport as it is far from everything. We were there in off season, so very quiet then. Should be more alive in peak season. Lovely beach and the pool is also nice. Hotel can arrange pickup from Phuket Airport. Have you looked at the Andaman White Beach resort in Phuket yet? Not as isolated, but also very nice.
Hi,
The Menu is good and the prices are pretty decent. Pretty much in the range of 100 odd Baht for most dishes with higher prices for non-Thai dishes. The menu is varied and the food is good with Thai food and some general items like burgers, pizza, pasta etc (which are also good!). The hotel is good but no intercoms/room service so if that's a deal breaker then you should consider other options. Also, if that's not a priority then the hotel has great views, is right next to the beach and the views are amazing!
Hope that helps!
