Had a very pleasant stay at the Dovecote while walking Hadrian's Wall. We were in the main building (East House); friends had a multi-level room across the road. Property was the estate manager's residence of John Clayton's (the "man who saved Hadrian's Wall") estate Chesters. Our room was pre-1740. Gardens are expansive and lovely. Our Room was comfortable, if a... More

I stayed here whilst walking Hadrian's Wall with my granddaughter. We could not have been made more welcome. We ate with other guests round a large table and both dinner and breakfast were excellent with lots of fresh produce from the lovely garden The room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended

Had a good night's sleep in the grand east house. Good spacious room with ensuite shower. Lovely breakfast with welcoming hosts. We walked (about 15 mins) to Crown in village, lovely village pub with good food. Easy to get back to Wall path.

We feel very lucky to have spent the first night of our Hadrian's Wall walk in the Dovecote at East House. The gardens are spectacular and we enjoyed a lovely dinner and substantial breakfast with the other guests. I wish we could have stayed more than one night at this beautiful and friendly place. Highly reccomended!

We spent our second night here on our Hadrian wall walk. We had the luck of being lodged in the dovecot itself. Insist of this if it´s available! It is a two floor little building. The entire top floor is the sleeping room. The bottom floor has a modern and quite luxurious bathroom and a stove and sink. Not a... More

A very warm and friendly welcome awaited us after a long day on the Hadrian's Wall walk. This place is lovely, the gardens are delightful and the host amazing. We ate here and had a lovely meal with wine. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Great breakfast choices too.

Difficult to get more off the beaten track, but we stayed here during our Hadrian's Wall walk. Our hosts gave us a very warm welcome (even came out looking for us when we were a bit late to arrive), and the food was most welcome - some serious carb loading ;-) Breakfast was equally as good.

After a long day walking along Hadrians Wall we were given a very warm welcome from David who served us tea and biscuits in their beautiful walled garden. David also gave us a lift to the nearby Crown Inn where we had a great meal. Our room was very pleasant and the shower was great. Breakfast was served around a... More

Stayed at the Dovecote on our walk along Hadrian's Wall. Remarkable cottage once a real dovecote, complete with original nest holes. Thankfully all refurbished and the doves evicted. Really well fitted out, although some may find the kitchen/bathroom area small if staying for more the just the night, but it was ideal for us. Hosts were really friendly and helpful,... More

As two retired couples, we stayed at the Dovecote for a night before beginning our walk along Hadrians wall, drove to Newtown, near Brampton, and then walked back to the Dovecote over three days. As we reached the end of the journey, we were really looking forward to spending another night in the huge and wonderfully comfortable beds in the... More
