It is a place difficult to describe! It's so calm, peaceful, lovely and offers a great variety of activities. The staff is very friendly and helpful with whatever you ask. I loved the food as well. Don't forget to visit the gift shop which has local crafts. The rooms are so cute! very warm although -20 outside. It feels like home!

Great place with beutiful location in the lake area some 7 km from the next building where you can enjoy nature activities, sauna and local kitchen. I was there in March and did snowshoing, X country skiing, yoga & other great stuff in and outdoors.

Metsäkartano is located in eastern Finland, in the middle of lakes and forests. As I celebrated my friend's wedding there a few weeks ago in the middle of May, I could also enjoy the peace and quiet at the same time.
With wooden buildings and beautiful surroundings, Metsäkartano is an ideal place for a theme wedding or other celebration, for a group travel or just for relaxing time with someone - or even alone. Big cabins, basic "wilderness hotel" rooms with shower and also a camping site are available. Rooms have a common living room area with a tv and a kitchenette. Breakfast with local treats (including for example Karelian pies) is available in the main building, as well as other meals depending on the service package bought.
I recommend this place for people who want to spend time in the Finnish nature with some comfort. I would imagine this place offers something special for foreign visitors!

This accommodation place is located in the middle of nowhere. Therefor peaceful and nature all around. We were staying in the big cottage "Karpalo" which is having 3 bedrooms downstairs, kitchen, living room and sauna. Possible to accommodate upstairs as well. Very nice cottage beside the lake. Very cosy. Pets were with us, pet-friendly accommodation. Good paths to walk outside with dogs.

We have been visiting for lunch and Sunday pleasure walks. The lunch is a buffet type. All cooked fresh in their own kitchen from local produce. The place has a very friendly staff and for the normal 12,-euro you will get a very enjoyable lunch!

It's perfect place for any nature lover. You don't have to worry about people blasting their music or huge festival taking place on the other shore of the lake. It is just in the middle of nowhere and it's the best sport for it!
We went there since they are our partners and we wanted to find out more, how they arrange their activities etc but I'm pretty sure, I will return there. I don't care it's 9h away (on the sea + on the land) away! So, what calls me back? - beautiful nature! There's possibility to go and hike, to swim but also just to enjoy - smell! Honestly, I love the smell of the wood and it was everywhere! - beautiful buildings. Of course, it's not the most important when looking for a place to stay but in this case it just adds up. Everything was in order, cozy and just ideal. - lots of activities. Although I didn't get to experience much because of the nature of my visit, I can already imagine what I could do, when I go there. - food. Oh god, the food. Yummy!
I would highly suggest this place for different events: from summer camps to holiday with friends, from work event to just relaxing all by yourself.

Finland isn't a place that naturally springs to mind when planning a summer trip for secondary students from England. What a massive mistake - the country is beautiful and Metsakartano, magnificent! 'Land of a thousand lakes' pales into insignificance when you realise the actual number is in the hundred thousands. Endless pine forests, wonderful wildlife and lovely people, our stay was an experience none of us will, or would ever care to, forget.
Metsakartano is set on a promontory surrounded by sandy beaches and stunning lakes. We slept in 'home-comfort' accommodation, ate like kings and partook in activities ranging from archery and t-shirt printing to mountain biking, hiking and canoeing. The highlight for me was sitting in near-perfect, midnight daylight, eating fresh salmon fillets cooked on wooden slabs around an open fire before alternating between sitting in the huge outdoor sauna and leaping into the freezing lake.
The centre is beautiful and the staff fantastic and I can't recommend them highly enough. Nothing was too much bother and I can't wait to go back to experience the deep snow and endless nights.
I thoroughly recommend this establishment. Thank you Metsakartano - you are magnificent.

I have visited Metsäkartano several times with three kids, both summer and winter time. E.g. two memorable Christmas times. It is easy to stay there with kids in a safe environment. Kids like to be there because there is all the time something interesting for them to do. The new play ground area and other outdoor games were nice extra this summer. Children also enjoy nice peaceful beach to swim and play. It has been easy to introduce kids to outdoor activities like canoing, hiking, fresbee golf, snowshoing. We will certainly keep on coming back there again and again.

It takes a while to get there, but its worth every minute! This center is placed on a beautiful spot: a big lake, forrets everywhere an a lot of activities to choose from. My house had an own kitchen, nice living room with sea view and even a private wooden heated sauna!
The food, served in the main building, was delicious. I recharged my batteries during walking though the woods, sitting at the lake or meeting other people. I really enjoyed every minute of my, much too short stay.
I will defenitly come back! Thanks a lot for everything!

I am a professor and I brought my students here for 2 weeks. The food, facilities, staff, and activities were all excellent. We were treated very well and we felt like family during our stay. The staff made every aspect of our time there remarkable. Thank you!!
