Superb rooms, service and location - our room looked out over the expansive gardens and to the hills beyond. Restaurant menu however was far too limited - the Tasting Menu was delicious but you don't want a (very expensive) tasting menu every night.

We were given a voucher for a Welsh afternoon tea and given the location attended with high expectations. What a disappointment, yes everything we had was nice, but having read their publicity regarding their large choice of tea I expected to be given the choice of what tea I was to have. No choice ... a pot of tea was... More

Stopped over for a couple of nights. Loved my room. Floors not always level due to the history of the house. Fabulous cocktails before the meal. Food is only a tasting menu so portion size small. Tasted wonderful. Staff very attentive (possibly a little too). Very enjoyable but not if you want large portions

Every room is luxuriously different, every guest treated to great service and a warm welcome. We experienced the tasting menu which was very nouvelle cuisine and innovative. Would like to have been able to order the Welsh Wagyu as a full main course. Final course saw everyone taken into the kitchen and treated to a science lesson involving liquid nitrogen,... More

Thought the room was good until we saw the amazing bathroom with its twinkling LED 'stars' in the ceiling and spa bath! Excellent meal, as expected, with a nice surprise at the end. Good location with some interesting walks close to the hotel.

We stayed as a family for our Golden Wedding Anniversary, eating at the Chef's Table. This was a fabulous decision as the friendly staff made our evening! With 18 imaginative courses and detailed descriptions, Gareth Ward and his team were inspirational. It was a surprise tasting menu and we were certainly not disappointed as everything was delicious and certainly a... More

My wife and I stayed at Ynyshir Hall and had a great time. Fantastic food form the brilliant Gareth Ward and his team. Very nice gardens, relaxed atmosphere, great staff and plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. If you want a relaxing holiday, fantastic countryside and brilliant food...go there...and try The Chefs Table! Perfect for an any... More

This hotel is in a wonderful location. Stunning views across Dovey valley and adjacent to RSPB reserve. Sadly the room we were allocated was at the rear of the hotel with no view other than a blank wall with a bathroom window to another room. It was clearly in the former servants' quarters built on three levels. On reflection I... More

We booked here as we wanted to try their restaurant ( see restaurant reviews). The drive to the hotel is beautiful, a one track lane to the hotel. The hotel is set in 14 acres of Welsh beauty. We checked in and then we were shown the hotel, the bar area with lots of comfortable settees, a drawing room and... More

We only stayed at the hotel as we wanted to eat Gareth's food in the "Restaurant at Ynyshir Hall" - which was outstanding (see separate review) Located in a beautiful setting just next to the RSPB reserve, the hotel is probably better described as a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel, and is small and intimate. We opted for... More
