Myself, my wife and our six year old were after a bite to eat after visiting a nearby location. We had passed The George Inn earlier and decided to give it a try. We're very glad that we did. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Thursday, and there were hardly any other people there. We were seated very... More

A small group of us ate here on our way home from a day out. The hosts were friendly, they have a nice choice of beers, wines and ciders. The decor is clean and the food is very nice. I would certainly go back if I was in the area again and would also recommend it to friends and family.

The room we stayed in was excellent, very clean and comfortable. There is a really nice craft centre nearby which is well worth a visit. We only stayed for one night and after reading the reviews decided to have dinner there but was very disappointing. I ordered Beef Bourginon which was pretty tasteless and more like a beef stew. Continental... More

Thankyou for your review. Very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the lodge. Confused as to why the beef bourginon is bland as it is made fresh from locally sourced beef every week. This has been on the menu for the last 6 months and this is a first for us as this is a very popular tasty dish.... More

We booked this accommodation as a stopover enroute to Cornwall to break up the journey. I would not recommend this. During the day this was a lovely quiet country pub which served lovely food and had a friendly atmosphere. By night it was a totally different story. We ate in the restaurant at 5.30pm, it was busy but well organised.... More

Good afternoon Tracey, Thank you for taking the time to let us know how your stay was. We're glad that you enjoyed your meal with us, we're sorry if you think children are not welcome or that we're not child friendly (as mentioned in your review on our restaurant page) - this is not the case at all, we are... Earlier this week I was taken to this pub for an evening meal. There is a bar area with a sports screen but there is a separate restaurant. The pub keeps a good range of beers and has some local beers as well. They will give you a small glass to taste if you ask. The menu is very varied... More

I am reviewing this as a bed and breakfast and do want to be fair. The vending experience was very good. Good beer and excellent food with friendly service. As a place to eat this would receive an excellent review. However, the overnight experience was very poor. We had rooms right next to a busy road. Consequently we could not... More

Contradictory to a recent review dated 9th July, I cannot fault the staff at this lovely pub, I booked this for me and my partner not knowing what to expect. I cannot fault the room even had a hairdryer, beautiful beer garden, food fabulous, staff exceptionally helpful, unknowingly I was talking to one of the daughters of the owner, very... More

After camping in Devon for a few days and becoming a little damp in the evenings we decided that enough was enough and booked The George for 1 night using the Booking.com phone app while sat high on a cliff in Looe, Cornwall. We were due to go to a wedding in The Malverns so wanted somewhere en-route. Didn't know... More

We went for food on Saturday 9th July, having booked in advance being told it was busy. When we got there we were only the second table seated in the whole restaurant. We ordered drinks first and then food about 10 minutes later. We have a nine month old daughter and after 45 minutes of waiting she was getting a... More

Good afternoon Gemma, Thank you for your review. We are very grateful that you took the time to let us know how your evening went. You did book in advance, by 10 minutes. This is something that we would still consider a ‘walk in’ table as our Saturday evening table plan is prepared in advance. However, your custom was still... More

We stopped off on spec en-route from Oxford to Cardiff on a rainy Sunday night for dinner and very glad we did. Suffice to say it was one of the best pub meals I've ever had, and all clearly freshly made as it did take a little while to arrive - but boy was it worth it.. A wide menu... More
