Oldfield is a truly unique and special place. Oldfield offers a sense of community among residents and guests that shows through all amenities and throughout the entire development. The charm and character of Oldfield can be found in golf to equestrian to Outfitters/fishing center to the fitness/pool area. Truly an 5 star experience.

We decided to stay at Oldfield cottages while I attended an Orvis Fly Fishing teaching event. The reservation process was easy and followed up by an email detailing the arrangements. This is not a resort but rather a community of families who share their lifestyle. If I had been more alert I would have brought my golf clubs along with my fly fishing tackle. The cottages (we stayed in Dogwood) were well appointed with an extremely comfortable firm mattress. The club's dining room has limited hours but I think you can find food at the lounge in the golf club house. By the way, the food served is excellent and if you have a chance to attend their low country boil take advantage of it. We will return there on our next trip to the coast. Shopping, my wife's joy, is plentiful in nearby Beaufort and Hilton Head.

I am so excited to see these guys on trip advisor! My first impression is this place is a hidden jewel. The river cottages we stayed in were so nice and romantic! I had my wedding there! My coordinator Dana was amazing. She helped me with all of my planning and vendors because I was out of state! My whole family stayed for a week. We plan on coming back in October for our 1 yr anniversary. The rooms are so pretty and I felt comfortable the moment I drove in the gate. Everyone was so helpful. Dinner & lunch was great. The property feels like a resort, there are so many things to do there. I would say we put a few miles on the bikes we checked out at the sports club. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique no fuss, relaxing weekend. I m not a golfer but my husband loves this course! We got a great rate on golf because we were staying on property.

We stayed in the Dogwood river cottage overlooking the marsh from our super comfortable 4 poster king bed. We opened the doors to the porch and enjoyed a beautiful view. It was tranquil and romantic. A few steps away and we were able to enjoy a low country boil at the outfitter' s club at a rehearsal . We attended our dear friends' daughter's wedding at the river club and it was divine. The staff were simply outstanding at the wedding and Natalie was exceptional. We highly recommend you stay at this very magical place.

We stayed at The Dogwood River cottage number 3. Initially we were in cottage 2 but the TV stopped working one evening and Security staff graciously moved us to Cottage 3. The cottage was clean, the king sized bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice with two sinks, freestanding tub and separate shower/toilet area. The screened porch provided a nice sitting area and was cooled with a ceiling fan.

The confirmation letter that we received said that we would have a starter supply of dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, coffee and paper products. Thus I assumed that we would have a full kitchen and laundry facility. I was very surprised to find that in reality we had a bedroom suite with mini fridge and microwave, no dishwasher, no dishwashing sink...I thought certainly housekeeping will come in and take the dirty dishes and provide fresh towels since we were booked there for a week. As it turns out, there is no housekeeping service, we were eventually given a sponge and dishwash soap and instructed to wash the dishes in the bathroom sinks. By the end of the week there was quite an accumulation of trash. Given that this is beach area, the floor got rather dirty, in spite of our attempts to remove shoes right away. There was no outdoor rug so it was hard to wipe feet before entry. and no broom...

We were booked in a Discovery package and my husband enjoyed golfing with members, we enjoyed a river boat tour, used the fitness facility, bikes and kayaks. We also enjoyed meeting members and potential members over dinner. The food at the Golf Club was very good and the staff were welcoming. I was a bit surprised though that no one checked in with us to determine how our stay was going or if we needed anything.

I recommend speaking with someone before booking a cottage here so that you understand exactly what you are getting. A week in a suite with no housekeeping service was less than ideal. Oh and in spite of WiFi being advertised, it was not accessible in our room - we had to go to a common area in the Outfitters area to use WiFi, we were told that the metal roofs impeded the signal.

My wife and I just had our daughter's wedding at the River Club in Oldfield Country Club, Okatie, SC. What an idyllic setting! For the function, we rented the entire Camellia River Cottage, a 4 BR, 4-1/2 bath accommodation that sits right on the marshes and Okatie river front. This is quintessential 'low country', with a sprawling back porch, complete with rocking chairs and plenty of room to rest and just watch Mother Nature do her thing. We were there on October 25th - 27th, and could have stayed for two more weeks.

The cottage is perfect for any event being held right next door at the River Club, but is also far enough away that any function there is not too loud so as to ruin your nights. The cottage is comprised of 4 BR's that each have their own front entrance and porch, but can also be accessed from inside, as they all connect. If you are one big group, you don't have to enter from the outside.

The cottage has a great kitchen and dining room, big fireplace in the large family room, which opens up through 3 sets of French Doors to a sprawling porch. It was beautifully and comfortably decorated, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. There is a full size washer & dryer as well. The BR's are comprised of 2 King BR's, One BR with 2 Queen Beds and One BR with 1 Queen and 1 Single Bed. So, it sleeps 11 comfortably.

We also rented 3 rooms in two of the other cottages, (Dogwood #5 and Gardenia 2 & 3), which were equally as nice. These are not directly on the marshes/river like Camellia, but the accommodations were fantastic as well.

I highly recommend staying in these outstanding cottages and Oldfield Country Club in general. As for a wedding venue, it simply doesn't get any better if you want a quintessential low country wedding. Danielle Tosky (Danny once you know her) was flat out a joy to work with. She is the best wedding coordinator on the planet as far as we're concerned. You can't go wrong booking your wedding here or simply vacationing there.

Highest recommendation!

Recently enjoyed a weekend stay at Oldfield Club for a friend's wedding...WOW!! We stayed in one of the river cottages, Camellia, which as is sounds is right on the river. Rooms are amazing and very beautifully decorated in a southern charm kinda way. It's only steps away from the beautiful River House where my friend was married. They've got so much to do here...golf, fishing, equestrian, sporting activities. My husband and I used bikes from the sports club to ride around the community and we took kayaks out on the river. Staff was amazing and helpful with everything. OH and we had dinner Friday night at the River House, incredible! A slice of paradise. This place is tucked away and very un-assuming and laid back but very high end at the same time. Truly unique. Wish we were lucky enough to liver there!

Played the Greg Norman course at Oldfield. Excellent course, good condition, challenging layout. We were on a golf trip to Hilton Head, stopped at Oldfield on the way to the airport in Charleston and we were glad we did! Beautiful, historic location. Did not spend the night at the hotel, just played golf.

Everything about Oldfield is idyllic -- the beautiful, old oaks that line the roads; the Okatie River that runs around the property; the birds that come to sleep on the same tree every night; and on and on. If you don't live there, you have opportunities to visit. Destination weddings are hosted at the River Club, the most beautiful, restored house on the river. As a guest, you can stay at one of the river cottages available for rental (each cottage has a main bedroom unit attached to a living room, dining room, and kitchen; and three additional bedroom pods, each with its own screened-in porch). There is an Outfitter's Center on site, where outdoor events like oyster roasts are held, and boating trips depart. There is a beautiful outdoor pool, indoor lap pool, athletic center and equestrian center, where you can ride. Oldfield is also well-known for its gulf course - now voted as an Audubon Preservation Site. Until we build our home there, we will keep visiting and enjoying our home away from home.

"Camellia cottage has it's back directly on the marshes and Okatie river. I would recommend renting a unit in this cottage. Unit #5 has the family room/kitchen/washer & dryer with it, and is a King BR. Unit #4 is the other King Unit, perfect for a romantic getaway."
