Rooms: Clean, spacious and quaint with a lot of character. Junior suite was spacious with a sitting area, an outdoor patio, and a huge bathroom. Well equipped with a comfortable king bed, large screen TV and coffee maker. Country-style room made you feel as if you really were staying in the countryside. Although the property was built in ~1850, it is extremely well maintained! Service: absolutely outstanding, friendly staff. Nighly turn down service, everyone was extremely courteous and pleasant. Received same day laundry service. Roman from the front desk was extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations. The owner of the property stopped by a few times to say hello during our stay and you can tell she and her husband (who runs the restaurant) take great pride in making sure their guests have a great experience. Restaurant: Highlight of our stay was in the restaurant, which is world-class, yet unpretentious. Outstanding breakfast buffet with an endless selection of hot and cold items. Enjoyed breakfast in the outside garden area with the birds singing. Lunch and dinner was a memorable experience - we are not experienced with French cuisine but the staff, particularly Julian guided us through some outstanding selections! The various Sommolier's helped us choose a number of local wines which topped off our experience. Location: Location is in a residential neighborhood. It was a fairly easy 20 minute drive to Avignon, once we figured out the roads. Other than some mall restaurants and fast food, not many dining options in the area otherwise. Having said all of this - the location put us within ~30 minutes of all the sites we visited in Provence.…
We chose this establishment to celebrate my birthday with my parents and the experience was faultless, the service discreet but attentive, the food amazing!!! A pleasure to experience gastronomy at such a high level and with such enthusiasm at all levels. Thank you to all the team, please keep on doing the good work!!!
Our room was great with a really comfortable king bed. Value for the money is great. The pool is in the back garden area, and quite nice. The restaurant is pricey and a bit tiny-portioned on the entrees, but it's fun for one night to dine in the garden and not have to drive. On Sundays, a must-do is the outdoor antiques/clothing/flea market in L'Isle Sur la Sorgue about 20 minutes away, from 9am to 2:30. Really great. Sadly there are not many good local dining options (other than in L'Isle.) Ten minutes from the hotel (under 2 miles) is the shopping center anchored by IKEA. That has at least two real restaurants, each with large outdoor and indoor dining areas. One is La Vielle Marché, with pretty good food - though is right next to the outdoor playground so gets lots of children running around. Next door is a somewhat quieter Italian restaurant. No reservation needed at either.…
We're so glad that we didn't book a hotel in the centre of Avignon during the hot august month. With an average day temeparture of around 34°C it's nice to be able to kickback in the luscious garden or around the swimmingpool area. Mind you it's not an easy drive to Avignon you definitely need a good gps to find your way around le Pontet which functions as a bedroom community for the area. The only drawback is that the hotel probably used the same decorator as Louis XIV when he built Versailles. I think it's a French thing and it's defintely too kitschy and pompous for our taste. The second drawback that there's not enough room around the pool. If you arrive in the afternoon all the seats are taken. But other than that we really enjoyed our stay here
set in what looks to be a residential areas on the outskirts of Avignon it is a surprise to see how large and private the property is once you enter. we received a very friendly welcome from the owner who checked us in and provided a light lunch even though we were outside of their lunch serving times. It has a large terrace dappled with tree shade. Lunch gave us clue to the quality of the food offer here so we opted to dine in which was the right thing to do. We had the tasting menu - absolutely superb. The room was spacious with a separate sitting room, tea and coffee, fridge facilities. Modern bight bathroom, separate bath and shower/double basin. pretty pool area too.
The location of this hotel is a little of of the way, in a outer suburb of Avignon; but that location has its advantages for sightseeing in the surrounding areas. Besides, the hotel itself is a gem. It's completely Provencal kind of relaxing, and everything is in tip top shape. And that's even before eating in the restaurant. We came here 30 years ago and came back again because we remember the food. We were not disappointed. We still marvel at the guinea fowl with foie gras.
I chose this old farm turned hotel because it was best situated for taking our car for day trips west, east and south to visit greater Provence. It is also conveniently located to take a wine tour of Chateauneuf du Pape. I did not have time for the spa so I cannot comment. Their breakfasts are great but extra to to the room rate. The dinner venue is absolutely delicious but it is not a place that you go every night. Awesome wine selection. We stayed 4 nights and easily visited Les Baux, Il Sur la Sorgue, Founraine Valcluse, and Chateauneuf de Pape.
We only stayed here for one night on our way across France. It was a fantastic choice of accommodation and from the moment you arrive everything is what you would expect from an SLH property. Pleasant staff, great rooms and amazing food. Dinner was exceptional. Warm and welcome all in all a great stay.
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights recently. We truly enjoyed this beautiful and serene oasis in a remote area! The dinner at the restaurant here was extremely impressive even for gourmet like us. To me, the set price of 65 euros for 3 piece dinner was very reasonable. Breakfast was also great; the garçon remembered our preference in our second breakfast, which we call the courtesy and impeccable service. We also had Swedish massage at Spa and really liked it although their technique is slightly different from what one usually gets in US as Swedish massage; they also performed massage of upper front part of our bodies. We visited not only Avignon (e.g., the Palais des Papes), but also Aix-en-Provence and Gordes, both are very impressive. In particular, we had a nice lunch at this hotel's sister hotel: Les Bories & Spa, which was equally impressive as this hotel. Overall, we loved this hotel and strongly recommend anyone who wants to have serene escape from his/her busy daily life. I have one suggestion: if you want to stay here, I would strongly recommend to get a rental car, which would make your stay here much nicer and allow you to visit other great places in Provence. Another caution: if you use TGV to go other parts of France, e.g., Paris, there are two stations in Avignon: Avignon TGV and Avignon Centre. You should be careful which one you want to use since the former Avignon TGV station has rental car return places, but the latter Avignon Centre does not. So, if you plan to get a rental car, use Avignon TGV.…
Upon arrival, this place is magnificent. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, very nice/spacious room with a terrace (ground floor). We stayed 3 nights. This hotel is located about 15-20 min outside Avignon. The cab rides are about 30 Euros each way, so round trip from hotel to Avignon is 60 Euros (~$90CAD). We had dinner at the hotel on the night of arrival. For us, the dinner menu was a bit of a challenge to find something for both my wife and I. She has some allergies which makes it a bit more challenging. I ordered a gin/tonic, which I do almost every night while on holidays. My wife had a glass of champagne. The food was delicious. I had a second gin (no tonic req'd) she had a half-bottle of wine (Chablis). I'll get to the pricing later. If you choose to dine at the hotel each night it's VERY expensive (~200 Euro)!!! We chose to go into Avignon one night and eat locally (5 min from the hotel) for pizza the last night (more on this below). This hotel has a Spa. We decided to book a late afternoon treatment. We had side-by-side foot massages. I rate my experience a 4/10 my wife, 9/10. Mine was more/less a foot rub. The spa does not offer flip-flops, only the terry-cloth slippers that are in the room, which got soaking wet just walking through the pool/sauna area in order to go to the mens locker room and treatment area. No sign of any towels (in the spa or locker room). I was told after, I should have taken a towel from the room. No mirror at the (one) sink so couldn't shave. Spa treatment prices are extremely high. I did mention my foot massage issue to the front desk staff they offered a 20% discount. I requested my bill for review the night before we checked out. The Gin/tonic I had during dinner on the first night, was 20 Euros!!!!($30CAD). by far the most expensive G&T I have ever had, the half bottle of Chablis was 36 Euros ($54CAD). My second Gin was 18 Euros (so they only deducted 2 Euros for tonic. Everywhere we've been in France (for the prior 2+ weeks we were travelling), all non-alcoholic drinks were 4-7 Euros but this hotel deducted only 2 Euros for tonic?? Had I just ordered a tonic, I'm sure it would have been in line with regular European prices. On our last night in Avignon, we asked the front desk about having a low-key dinner at a restaurant close to the hotel. They mentioned a pizza place but nobody had been or knew anything about it. The local town is called Le Pontet. We took a cab to this pizza place (It's called Pizza La Place) and it was very good. I asked them to call a taxi to go back to the hotel and (Greg, our waiter) offered to drive us. Very nice gesture. It's my feeling, when a hotel is situated a fair distance from any main town/city they should offer a short list to share with guests of local dining options (and perhaps any attractions to see if there are any). Otherwise, do they expect all guests to have a 200+ Euro meal in the hotel every night? Or alternatively, take a 90 Euro taxi to/from town? I thought this was a major oversight considering the hotels location. I feel like they have no problem charging big prices and delivering small value. I would not stay again. For us, staying in town (Avignon) would make more sense.…
