We had pre-paid for 2 rooms for 2 nights in August but were very disappointed by the comfort and quality of this hotel. It was extremely hot at the time and the rooms have no air-con or fans so they were unbearably stuffy. The rooms were tired and shabby, the wifi virtually non-existent and the mattresses were thin with plastic protectors only adding to the discomfort. My wife ended up sleeping on the floor by the open window as it was more comfortable. We couldn’t face another night there so checked out, losing £200 we had paid for the 2nd night. The manageress just shrugged when we explained. Compared to the other hotels we stayed in, Pavillon Bleu is poor value for money.

a bit outside of the city, easy to park, the rooms are nice and clean (except for the spider!), good service, nice decoration for this pleasant place, not so welcoming stairs and terrasse because of the recent strom but they are working on it and it should be even nicer!

The hotel is tucked into a residential area minutes away from Pontaillac Beach. Rooms are spread informally among four different buildings. There was no lift to the first floor of the main building but the room had a very pleasant sunsoaked balcony. It had no frills but it did have the only bath we came across in ten days. The beds were a good size and comfortable and the hotel's location ensured it was the quietest night of our holiday. It was spotlessly clean and at 69E for a night, one could not have asked for more.

Really worth a visit, the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. We traveled with 4 adults a 6 months old baby and a small dog in two rooms. All rooms were large and adequately fitted out. Beautifully clean and lots of hot water. Our room had a little garden patio with chairs and table and privacy. It was a short walk to a beautiful beach suitable for little ones under the watchful eyes of their parents. Breakfast was adequate with pastries, bread yoghurt etc, there was plenty to go around and they filled baskets as soon as they were empty. There was also ample free parking, yes the rooms are perhaps a little dated, but for the overall price I didn't mind that it gave it a true french feel. Well done Pavillion Bleu will stay again if we find ourselves in Royan.

This hotel has several good things going for it - location in quiet residential area but close to beaches, decent sized bedrooms, bathroom and public rooms, and a shaded terrace. However it had an air of decline. Eg while still advertising as hotel / restaurant it had shifted just before our visit to serving evening meals only to residents booked hours in advance. The wifi coverage was poor. Reception hours were very limited considering the location. On lying back to enjoy the (rare) full sized bath, I saw mould on the ceiling. More worrying, the main stair light did not trigger on correctly, and there was no warning notice or indication that it was to be repaired. Hope that this business gets the skills and resources needed to turn it round.
