My mother and I stayed here in July with my black lab. We received a great welcome from Eileen and enjoyed a very comfortable stay. As we are animal lovers, the stunning cats were a joy to behold. Although the cats were not taken with my dog initially, with most fleeing when they saw him, there were no major incidents,... More

Eileen was a charming hostess. Beautiful house and garden. Gorgeous cats (we stayed in Ivana's room). The Maine Coon's are amazing cats. The family bathroom is lovely period room. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

If you love cats and other pets this is a great place. The house is big and very grand, but has everything you need. The breakfast was nice and the owner was great company, it has wi-fie and great surrounding gardens that wrap round, meticulously maintained with that old victorian feel. Great place

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. A charming house, beautiful grounds. The owner was very friendly and helpful, clearly enjoys sharing her beautiful home. The nearby Indian restaurant was great! We loved the gorgeous Maine coon cats.

There is now a visiting cat from who knows where who I feed twice daily on the wall. He had a terrific fight with Mstslav, the resident elderly golden lion and that cost me £72 in vet;s bills. It,s all happening at Thornley Hse! I hope you'll visit again soon More

My partner and I booked two nights at the B&B as it was within 15 mins walk to a friends wedding and the local pub for dinner. We were greeted by our hostess Eileen who showed us to our double room with en-suite bathroom and offered us fresh milk for a pot of tea/coffee and biscuits in our room. She... More

I was very grateful for your kind review as a recent customer gave very malicious review complaining about the cleanliness of the place and cat hairs. I hope you will come back to Thornley Hse again More

We stayed here 2 nights while visiting the area. Rooms are large and comfortable and the setting is quite nice with a garden and even a pair of donkeys to go with the cats. Breakfast was good. I'm not a cat lover but my wife and daughter are and they loved the cats

We booked two nights at the B&B in order to attend a friend's wedding in Allendale. The B&B has three rooms and two other couples we know were in the other rooms so it made for a very social stay. Eileen and Shirley are lovely hosts, complimented by the four-legged residents bursting with personality. Being animal lovers this could not... More

We spent two nights with Eileen and her fabulous cats. When we arrived she was there to greet us with tea and cake, which was most welcome. My fiancé was in the middle of walking Hadrian's Wall and her super breakfasts made a great start to each day. The gardens were beautiful, the rooms were comfy and the cats were... More
