This was my second visit to Brynarth and I stayed for 5 nights. I needed a break and this is the place to switch of life, and refuel. The place is just wonderful and the service fantastic. Peace and quiet, morning-coffee on the bench overlooking the valley. I will keep coming back.

Fabulous location, great service (James and Stuart - lovely hosts) and a cosy B&B nested somewhere i had to trust the sat nav to find. Fantastic find - very happy to recommend for anyone staying in that part of Wales. Would return in a heartbeat.

We have just spent two nights at this wonderful guest house. The setting is magical, the cooked breakfast is to die for with perfect poached eggs and thick cut bacon! To add to this James and Stuart have to be the nicest hosts ever. Not only courteous service but served up with a wonderful sense of humor. Don't expect tv... More

We discovered Brynarth 2 years ago and said then that we would return. James and Stuart make every effort to make your stay memorable, absolutely nothing is too much trouble. The property is superb in appointment and location. The food provided at both breakfast and the evening meals were top class restaurant quality. We can't stress strongly enough how restful... More

James & Stuart were perfect hosts, striking a lovely balance between friendliness & professionalism. The guest house is totally idyllic - the buildings, the gardens (complete with pond) & surrounding countryside are beautiful to say the least. The quiet is calming & the wildlife easy to spot. Our room was comfortable & very clean. If I had one criticism it... More

Accommodation, location, breakfast and hosts all great. Lovely buildings with stylish decor, in pretty and secluded surroundings. Nice that it has a lounge and snug for the use of guests. The hosts are friendly and helpful.

Wonderfully peaceful and relaxing; beautiful gardens and surrounding woodland. My single room and en-suite was immaculately clean and very comfortable. There was no TV which was a bonus for me but if you miss communication with the outside world, free WiFi connection was good. James and Stuart were perfect hosts and ensured my stay was pretty perfect - many thanks... More

Visited only for one night but what a beautiful place! James and Stuart were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was first class. Although the room was quite small and the shower wasn't particularly good, the hospitality shown by the guys made up for this. Very pretty setting and would love to re-visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Brynarth Country Guest House is nestled in rural splendor amongst some of the most stunning scenery in the Ystwyth Valley. It is owned and run by James Dwyer & Stuart Betts and is situated within the beautiful countryside in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. This 17th Century farmhouse and it's barns have been tastefully and sympathetically renovated in keeping with Brynarth's age and time in history, with 2 acres of bluebell woods included within it's 8 acres of grounds. Brynarth is ideally located to access not only the many attractions in Ceredigion and it's beautiful coastline, The Ystwyth and Elan Valleys but is close enough to easily enjoy the bustling coastal towns of Aberystwyth, Aberaeron and New Quay. We are mid-way between the towns of Aberystwyth and Lampeter and are an ideal place to stay if you are visiting either Aberystwyth or Lampeter University - indeed we are a favoured haunt of many of the students' parents who prefer not to stay in the town. The accommodation includes two double rooms in the main farmhouse, both with large en-suite shower rooms, one with sitting area and dual aspect windows looking out over the countryside. Just across the courtyard, The Old Dairy Barn has 5 delightful en-suite rooms, 2 being singles, plus a further double and a twin that share a bathroom and are ideal for use as a family 'suite' or small group. All rooms are centrally-heated, have radio alarm clocks and hair dryers, tea and coffee making facilities, Welsh toiletries and egyptian cotton towels. Rooms are serviced each day to make your stay as comfortable as possible. An iron and ironing board are available on request. Our Bed and Breakfast rates include a cooked breakfast of your choice from our menu, plus fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts and toast and preserves. We pride ourselves on offering as much local, fresh produce as we can, most of our eggs come from our own chickens, and we serve home-grown vegetables and fruit. Evening meals are bookable in advance and are cooked using fresh and local produce. All guests enjoy their meals in the warm and welcoming Dining Room and can relax in front of a log fire in the lounge with it's adjoining licenced Snug Bar. Packed lunches are also available by arrangement, if you are planning a day out walking or cycling. We provide free wireless internet access. To enhance the evenings, there is a separate Games Barn where one can enjoy table tennis, pool & darts, here there is also a large colour television with comfy sofas. There are many different paths to take and seats upon which to sit and read, or simply enjoy a drink whilst the sun sets in the perfect peace and quiet. Crystal clear spring water comes down from the mountains to supply Brynarth even through the driest of summers. A two and a half acre wood is a good place to hide away and in May becomes a blanket of bluebells. If you are looking for an escape from the hurly burly of city life or are in need of rejuvenating yourself in a caring and warm atmosphere with excellent food and nurturing surroundings then look no further. We love to welcome dogs here at Brynarth, however we can only accommodate dogs in the rooms of the 'Old Dairy' and not the main Farmhouse. This is because we provide anti-allergenic bedding in the Farmhouse and must ensure that those rooms remain safe for those with allergies. This area is a paradise for walking offering numerous paths, forestry tracks and bridleways, as well as more challenging routes to cater for more extreme walkers, all within easy reach of Brynarth. Cyclists can follow dedicated cycle-paths and byways that pass directly through this area and are free from heavy traffic with breathtaking views. You can join the Ystwyth Trail half a mile from Brynarth, this family friendly trail is traffic free with a gentle terrain. We also have secure storage to lock your cycles up at night. Here at Brynarth we are happy to welcome motorcyclists, as well as a large car park we offer secure, covered parking for motorcycles. Brynarth hosts an abundance of wildlife, including regular fly-pasts by red kites, successfully re-populating this area of Mid-Wales, we are in an ideal location to access many Nature Reserves offering spectacular landscapes and wildlife in their natural habitat, Cors Ian Nature Reserve is 400 yards from us. ... more   less
