Detailed Reviews
If I could write a wish list of accommodations in relation to location, professionalism and personability of the staff, quality of the rooms and food there is no question that Tides Reach Resort would be the result.
Taveuni is renowned for it's diving, but with the appearance of this tiny luxurious resort, it now has something else to be proud of.
The resort is pristine and upon arrival one is greeted by the staff who are assembled at the entrance singing traditional greetings.
For some reason, we were fortunate to be the only guests and were upgraded to a large bure a mere few yards along the pristine beach.
The bure is immaculate. A large porch marks the entrance upon which are scattered chairs and couches which welcome your slumber after a challenging day exploring the dive sites or the rest of the island.
Upon entry, a spacious lounge area, again with beautiful furnishings, welcomes you into air conditioned comfort. However, if the weather permits, you can merely open all the panoramic glass doors to embrace the tropical breezes.
The bathroom has a part wooden floor in the twin shower area and a bathtub as well. Opening the door to the tropical garden beyond finds another shower where one can rinse off the sand of the ocean comfortably and then peacefully enter the bure.
There is a huge area with sinks and a closet that leads to a large bedroom; again with panoramic views and doors.
Most people come to Taveuni for the diving and the dive center is merely a few yards down the beach where children play and leap into the warm waters from large trees, cavorting and laughing most of the day. Diving is on air, but they have the capacity obtain Nitrox. A small inflatable is sued to reach the dive boat and most sites are reached within 25 minutes or so. Dive briefings are very casual and the guides do their best to take you to places you would find interesting and depending upon the tides as well. The Great White Wall, and Rainbow Reef are inevitably asked for and entry must be timed just right to experience the soft corals in full bloom.
Food is served in a beautiful restaurant on the beach and the Chef goes out of his way to prepare and cater to the guests requests. William, who attended the restaurant was superb and extremely professional. Most people wish to adopt him at the end of their stay.
Besides diving, there is hiking, kayaking, swimming, horse riding etc.
All in all, the team manage the resort superbly and cannot do enough for the guests. This is a dream destination.

This resort is amazing--the location, layout/design, inclusive amenities, the dive shop steps away, the FOOD (incredible), service, and mostly, the STAFF. My husband, 21-year-old daughter, and I shared a suite. It was clean, comfortable, spacious, and well designed. We really enjoyed the flourishes of fresh flowers in the morning and evening. We were treated so kindly and taken such great care of by a wonderful and welcoming team of people--Floyd, Irene, Fabi, Liza, Vere, Mela, and Nui. They made sure we had everything we needed--French press coffee, freshly baked treats, and eggs plus more in the morning, gourmet lunches and dinners with dessert, and even delicious sandwiches and fresh fruit when we were spending the day out hiking and birdwatching. My daughter and I don't consume dairy but that wasn't a problem. We were very well fed! The dive shop team--Ma, Divemaster Bose, and Captain Joel were also great. They were pros and we enjoyed some amazing diving. It's unanimous that Tides Reach and Taveuni are at the top of our list of vacations.

We stayed at Tides Reach for four nights as part of our two-week Fiji trip and we couldn’t have been happier staying here while on Taveuni. Every person and every moment, from our welcome greeting with Maria and George, to Manasa and Rosalita our waiter/waitress along with Lesu, Alfred and Niu who took us on excursions and shared some of the Fijian history with us were the absolute friendliest. Because the resort is small (only 4 bures) we had the opportunity to really get to know the staff and our fellow resort mates. The intimate setting made for such a lovely experience and we felt so well-taken care of the entire time. The bure was spacious and incredibly clean for the five of us and we all slept beautifully! Our highlights were kava with the staff nightly and the Meke night. What an incredible experience! It was so wonderful and we’d go back in a heartbeat!

We spent 4 days at Tides Reach in September. Tides Reach is a charming boutique resort with only 4 bures. The staff was absolutely fantastic and I would describe the unit we stayed as kind of rustic elegance. We stayed in one of the two larger units and it had plenty of room for the four of us. The resort is on a beautiful sandy beach with a great dive operation right next door that the resort owns. We had one minor issue with the hot water not working, but it was immediately attended to and fixed. All that was needed was a new gas tank. The free waterfront equipment was in good condition and there were also 2 jet skis that we did not use. The food was good but not great and this was the only area that we felt Tides Reach fell a little short which is the only thing preventing a 5 star review. We could have used a little more variety and finding some food options for a couple of very picky eaters, which we alerted them to in advance, was a bit of a challenge. The cocktails were quite good and the prices very reasonable. We wholeheartedly would recommend Tides Reach.

We recently spent 7 amazing nights here! We are a large family group ages 8-70. We have traveled the world staying at mainly five star accommodations. This place tops our list. Checking every box we require: amazing food, secluded beach, privacy, culture kind people, great service and wonderful excursions. The people are like done we have ever met, so kind, warm and accommodating.
Two members of the staff guided us on all activities. Keeping everyone safe and carried water and towels everywhere we went. If there was something we wanted or needed it was amazingly there within minutes. They even had a family fun day where the entire staff competed in games with our family. You'd be surprised as the fun we had playing musical chairs as adults.
The memories we made here will last a life time.
We highly recommend Tides Reach and we all hope to return sometime soon!

We had a great time at Tides Reach. Everything was as described, only better. The villas are bigger than they appear, the beach is just perfect for lazy afternoons in the shade of an old tree, the food.... oh the food.... it was just amazing! Consistently fresh, varied and tasty. Not once in our 2 weeks did we get tired of eating in the same restaurant. The only limit on variety were our requests for repeats, for example for the coconut ceviche which we couldn't get enough of. All the staff were just wonderful and took great care for us including our 1 year old without being over the top. Add to that great diving and hiking, and I'm really struggling to think of another resort, big or small, anywhere in the world that provides all this in 1 place.

My husband and I, and another couple (all mid-30s), just returned from an amazing stay at Tides Reach. Every detail of our stay was amazing: from the staff, to the rooms, to our daily adventures around the island. First of all, the property is spectacular: it is on a huge private beach, with beautiful villas and a lodge that are designed to perfection. We couldn't stop swooning over the furniture in our villas and the overall ascetic of the lodge. Second, the staff is world class: kind, helpful, and attentive. They knew what we wanted before we event asked, and they were great about sharing what they loved about the property and the island. Finally, we loved Taveuni! From hiking to waterfalls, to biking along the west coast, to nature's waterslides, to an island day trip - there wasn't enough time to do everything we wanted to. This isn't a beach vacation where you'll be bored (unless you want to be).
We originally booked our stay for 4 nights, but once we got there we quickly realized we wouldn't want to leave. We cancelled our other plans to stay 2 more nights at Tides Reach - we just couldn't think of anywhere else that would be even half as amazing. We hope to be back!

We just got back from a week at Tides Reach and everything about the resort and Taveuni was amazing. Tides Reach has only four bures and is quite new. It looks like many honeymooners go there (I'm sure it is perfect for a honeymoon) and my wife and I went with our 16 year old daughter and her friend. The bure's are very well done and the bed was heavenly. Huge bathrooms, very comfortable and nice art in each room. Each bure looks out on the ocean and is right off the sand.
The eating area is where everyone gathers and the food is truly excellent! Delicious seafood, salads, soups, fruits and desserts. They serve you a lot and are glad to custom tailor for vegetarians etc. Actually for my taste, the food was too good and I gained 5 pounds! And the bar was well stocked and a great place to relax at the end of the day.
The activities are numerous, including snorkeling, diving, surfing, hiking, fishing, ATV's, visiting villages and for us also a lot of relaxing in the lounge chairs on the sand and reading a good book. The dive operation for the island is located right on the property and I dove out at Rainbow Reef and it was truly the most amazing dive of my life. I felt like I was in a National Geographic special! I also surfed one day at the right-hand wave which is about a 30 minute boat ride. Excellent wave and no one else was there the day I went. Other highlights for us were touring the island on the ATV's, going to the islands Rugby championships and doing a tour of the local village of Wei Wei.
Another important thing about Taveuni and Fiji in general; the nicest people on the planet! The staff at the resort feels more like family now and everywhere we went everyone we met was so nice and friendly. And i think maybe we got lucky as it was hot, but not too hot and I was surprised how few biting bugs there were. I did not get bit once.
I can't wait to go back!

A world of thanks to Melissa at Fiji Vacations for recommending Tides Reach. This was our fourth Fiji vacation with Melissa and we can't say enough about this wonderful new resort! The staff...Eunice,Maria, George, Sucra and Sherri made us feel welcome and pampered. The accommodations were first class, food, amazing ,activities were spectacular...the private island picnic, atvs to explore the island, hike to the waterfall, and then of course the trip to the village topped with the party the night we left...The Tides Reach staff 's care and level of service is the best we have ever experienced in our travels to over 30 countries. The resort location, serenity and views are stellar. Book with Melissa and go here. You will be forever happy you had this experience. We will be back.

We booked Tides Reach Resort because they specifically said on their website that they would cater to any dietary requirements. THEY DID! They made 3 vegan courses for every lunch and dinner, and vegan muffins for breakfast! Chef Tom was imaginative and inspired - our food was so amazing that one of the other guests said "I want what they're having!"
But Tides Reach is more than food. It's a family. When we arrived at the airport, Eunice picked us up and drove us the 3-5 minutes to the resort. Eunice is friendly, professional, and genuinely cares about her guests and their experience. When we got to Tides Reach, the staff was waiting for us with fresh coconut drinks and sang a welcome song. Eunice gave us an orientation and took us to our modern beachfront bure. WOW.
Our standard bure was 800 square feet and beautifully decorated, with a porch, a king sized bed, a huge closet, a rain shower, a huge bathtub, and an outside shower. There are 2 standard and 2 deluxe bures on the property, so there are a minimal number of guests and that makes the resort feel very intimate. The staff quickly learned our names and used them every time they greeted us. Suka, Niu, william, Cherie, and Rosealia took great care of us with dining and activities. I cannot say enough about the staff - they add the Fijian spirit to this modern and attractively decorated resort.
Here are a few examples: My husband had a birthday while we were there and not only did the chef make him a birthday cake, the staff decorated the dining area with balloons. It was very sweet - they definitely went out of their way to make his day special. I caught a cold and was unable to go diving for a few days, and Suka made it his mission to keep me occupied; he took me on a tour of the west side of the island in the “mule” (an off-roading golf cart that goes up to 40 kmh) and taught me to weave a palm basket.
The entertainment at night was great. On two nights, a trio of singing guitarists played during dinner, and they invited us to join them for singing and kava. One night a large group of adults and children from the local village of Wiwi sang for us and danced. At one point they took our hands and had us join in the dancing.
I highly recommend this resort. It's beautiful and the staff is even more beautiful. You will never want to leave Fiji, but when you do, the staff at Tides Reach will sing you a farewell song, hand you a handmade flower necklace, and wave goodbye at the airport as your plane takes off. Family!

Yes in certain areas. The waters are calm. Just be aware of the reefs and coral.
