We have not yet had the chance to visit due to Covid cancelling our vacation TWICE! However, Bev the manager, has been nothing short of amazing from day 1. I have asked her 101 questions and she has happily answered them all. Hideaways has been most helpful in adopting our plans, assisting in making our stay wonderful, and refunding our trip for unfortunate events. I wont stay anywere else! Thank you, Bev.
Fantastic place , holiday homes very spacious, 2 bathrooms one toilet /shower the other toilet/ bath. Very big bed and comfortable, people really friendly especially Bradley and Ralf , always around to help in anyway they can. Free shuttle bus 4 times a day into Georgetown and pick up as well till 5pm then it’s taxis. I can highly recommend Metis , good rates and great for island tours , took us to places you wouldn’t get from organised tours, and very interesting, very nice lady
A truly wonderful, breathtaking experience. Jolly Hall Beach to walk on every morning, onsite dining at Splash. Great hotel staff. Free shuttle to Georgetown for Chat N Chill excursion and checking out Exuma Market. What's not to like. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa (#32), with full sized kitchen and living room was clean and in tip-top shape. We couldn’t wait to get settled in so we could explore the beautiful beaches. The resort was not crowded – maybe a total of 12 people scattered throughout. Will definitely return.
I arrived at Hideaways on Thursday and it was a nonstop lituation from there! The 3 bedroom villa, #35, was on point, so spacious, accommodating, and relaxing for my party of 5. My other crew had several other villas and they felt the same. Being able to walk out of your front door and onto the beach was soooo nice. The view from the balcony was breath taking. Do try to catch a sunrise. Ms Cindy at the front desk was so helpful. The entire staff made us feel like family. I’m truly unsure of why other reviews claim that the service and their attitude was sub par. I’d stay no where else in Exuma. You guys have just adopted family from New Orleans!! Can’t wait to see y’all again!!
The property itself was OK. It wasn't anything spectacular and this review would have been a three-star review instead of a two-star review were it not for the abysmal customer service provided by the front desk staff. I'll just provide a couple of examples of the things these people did that had a negative impact on our vacation. We arrived on December 24. Although our room was ready, it took more than thirty minutes for us to be checked in and taken to our room. As we had been travelling quite a long time already, this was a pretty poor way to start the trip. We were interested in heading to Stocking Island the following day--Christmas Day--since we expected many of the local restaurants to be closed and had heard that the main restaurant on Stocking Island would be open. The front desk person that checked us in told us that the water taxi would be running the next day, but that it may be on a different schedule, so we should check the following morning with whomever was working at that time for the schedule. (It is not possible to find this information online.) When we did that the following day we were told that the water taxi was not running. We asked the woman that told us this to please check, since we had been told it would be running, and she said she would do that at 11:00 AM, when they would have normally opened. When we checked back with her she said she had called, and they were definitely closed. We had a tour scheduled for December 26, so on December 27 we took the water taxi to Stocking Island. We learned that not only had they operated on Christmas Day, but that they had started running at 10:00, which is the same time they always start. The front-desk worker had actually lied to us about checking! This lie caused us to basically waste a day of our vacation. Another issue with the front desk that was really frustrating was that at least five times when we tried to exchange our used towels for clean towels we were told they were out of clean towels. One time this happened at 9:00 AM, so it was clear that the towels just had not been dealt with properly the night before. Being told "come back in an hour" doesn't help when you are heading out for the day, and wind up having to take wet, sandy towels. A different time we were asked to come back in twenty minutes to obtain clean towels, as the towels were in the dryer. When we returned about an hour later we were met with a blank stare and no towels by the person who had asked us to come back in twenty minutes. She did not apologize or even acknowledge that she had told us to come back in twenty minutes. We also had significant trouble with the internet. Typically the networks would be reachable, but the networks would not have an active internet connection. We could ask the front desk to reset the internet connection, and sometimes that worked and sometimes it did not. We wound up having to use our cell phones for internet access some of the time, resulting in additional cell phone usage cost. Another small but annoying issue was the fact that we were asked to wear wrist bracelets the entire time we were there so that employees monitoring the hotel beach and pool would know that we were entitled to use the facilities. The bracelets were not particularly comfortable to wear for nearly a week straight! We've been to much more exclusive properties that are much larger, with much nicer beach facilities in areas where locals are much more likely to try to make use of the properties' facilities and not been asked to wear uncomfortable bracelets. Instead, at those properties, if a worker is not certain as to whether or not a guest belongs there the guest is simply asked for their name and room number, and the information is then checked against a master list. Occasionally having to provide a name and room number is a lot more convenient than being asked to wear an uncomfortable bracelet for one's entire stay. The villa we stayed in was fairly large and fairly well appointed with plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, etc. (One item notably missing was a pot holder.) The mattress left a bit to be desired, and both my wife and I did not sleep as well as we normally do at home or even at other hotels when travelling. Our toilet had to have its handle jiggled every time it was flushed or the water would keep running through it quite loudly. The walls were a little thin, and we could often hear our neighbors talking. There was actually reasonably good (by Great Exuma standards) snorkeling available at the Hideaways beach. The little island a short swim from the beach and the rocks to the left of the main beach were home to a variety of sea life. We even saw Green Sea Turtles here several times. The hotel does provide a few shower facilities just off the beach, to wash the sand off your legs and feet. We will not be returning to Hideaways.…
