Finding Allt Y Golau was like finding treasure. Colin and Jacquie are welcoming hosts who immediately made us feel very comfortable. The old farmhouse is beautiful and has been renovated designed and furnished really carefully. Our two rooms were attractive and looked after. Comfortable beds, exceptionally comfortable pillows, fresh-looking bedrooms and bathrooms. The bathrooms are more spacious than some 4-star...

We stayed here for two nights, occupying the two ground floor rooms (Poppy and Cornflower). The rooms are well equipped and cosy, and the upstairs lounge is a lovely place to while away the evening. Jacquie and Colin are consummate hosts, helpfully available but not intrusive. Jacquie prepares (and Colin serves) a great cooked breakfast with eggs from their own...

This is a excellent B&B, with lots of charm, located in a quiet rural village just a short drive outside of Carmarthen, Wales. An ideal location for exploring Western Wales. The hosts, Jacqui and Colin, are very friendly and accommodating. They have lovingly restored this old farmhouse, while maintaining it's original character. The farmhouse is set back from the road...

We enjoyed our stay at the Allty Golau B&B when we were in Wales recently for a short golfing holiday. Very pleasant bedrooms plus a lounge for the use of the guests, and an excellent fresh breakfast to start the day - fresh poached eggs from the free range hens on the farm are definitely recommended! A little bit off...

I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the weather was kind. We like to send our guests off for the day with a good farmhouse breakfast. Sorry about the WiFi, three foot thick stone walls don't help!

Someone sent me an e-mail slide show of wonderful trees of the world and I was lured into Wales to see the yew tree tunnel at Aberglasney Gardens, so I checked out nearby B&B's and happened across the Allt y Golau which was close to those gardens and the equally wonderful Welsh National Botanical Gardens. The B&B is in an...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in an uplifting landscape with panoramic views over the Tywi Valley and beyond to the dramatic Black Mountain. Relax in our Georgian stone walled farmhouse over a sumptuous breakfast (featured three years running in Eat Well in Wales). Best Farmhouse Breakfast Award and AA Breakfast Award that relies on home baking and local traditional products. Restore your spirits in the mature and tranquil gardens that are carpeted by snowdrops, wild daffodils and bluebells in the spring.Your hosts, Colin and Jacquie Rouse, have lived at Allt y Golau since 1976 and they are active members of the local community. They both have a love and deep knowledge of the heritage and folklore of the Tywi valley which they enjoy sharing with their guests."Jacquie's breakfasts are like a Welsh morning meze. Cereals, neatly labelled preserves, home-made bread and freshly squeezed fruit juices occupy one end of a splendid elm dining table. Tea and coffee appear as often as required. The perfectly poached or rich yellow scrambled eggs, local sausages, bacon, Welsh potato cakes and toast, croissants, rolls, marbles of butter and yet more preserves. It could be very easy to sit here all day, perusing the papers, setting the world to rights and ignoring the world outside." (Eat Well in Wales 2001)A keen gardener, Jacquie has created a mature garden that blends into the hillside and provides many vistas of a stunning landscape.Restore your spirits, stroll around and enjoy the mature and tranquil garden with its views of Grongar Hill (associated with the poet John Dyer and Aberglasney Gardens) and Llyn y Fan Fach (famous for the legend of the Lady of the Lake and the Physicians of Myddfai). In spring the orchards are carpeted in snowdrops (Eirlys), daffodils (Lent Lily or Blodyn mis Mawrth), the Tenby daffodil (Narcissus obvallaris) and bluebells (Cychau'r Glas). Enjoy the company of our Brecon Buff geese, Welsh Harlequin ducks, free-range hens and (during the autumn and winter) our free range Norfolk Bronze turkeys. ... more   less
