My wife and I have stayed at the Ballard Inn over 8 times in the last 10 years. But the last stay this weekend was frustrating, due to a complete lack of customer service by the staff for the breakfast service. The servers ignored very basic things like having us wait 20 mins while seated to bring a menu, table settings, and even ask if we would like some coffee. I had to repeatedly flag a server to request a setting, which then was ignored. The staff was apathetic and didn't even apologize, when they forgot to address my very basic requests. This reflects poorly on the hotel management. The WIFI was very limited as well and the hotel needs maintenance. It's time to try a different hotel on my next weekend getaway to the Santa Ynez valley.

Booked the Wildflower Room thru the property's website. Check in was simple after completing the online registration card earlier in the day sent via text. Made sure to arrive by 5 pm to take advantage of the complimentary wine and cheese hour. On Saturdays an outside winery is brought in. The other days, the staff pours bottles from the restaurant's collection. Of course while on property must have dinner at the Gathering Table. Breakfast is included - two courses - you will definitely be full afterwards. We requested a 3rd course to share as a dessert and were obliged no problem (Nutella waffle). Nice touches include coffee service throughout the day and a good night homemade cookie. With COVID19 protocols in place, no daily room service, but you can fill out a card to leave at the front desk with requests (more towels, water refill, empty trash, etc). No TV in the room, but good wi-fi. If you have to watch tv, there is one in the main floor downstairs common area. Check out was as simple as dropping off the keys at the front desk.

The room is just under the central air conditioning system, which means 24 hours of constant noise (a bit like having a dryer work nonstop in your bedroom). The price is way too high too. Not recommended

My husband and I were in California celebrating our anniversary and we got to stay at the Ballard Inn for two nights. It was excellent!!! The staff were all warm and welcoming and couldn't have done a better job for us while we were there. They offer a nice charcuterie and wine hour out on the lawn daily which was really fun as we got to chat with other guests. The daily breakfast every day was really good and we just loved it!!! Super charming, super clean and great staff. We got to chat with Taryn quite a bit and she was delightful... She sent us to a great local restaurant for dinner and then enjoyed dinner at the Inn the next night (they are very busy you need reservations. Food at the restaurant was great and after wine tasting all day this was a perfect end. We would absolutely return to Ballard and the Inn in the future as we totally loved it.

My wife and I just returned from a short but wonderful stay at the Ballard Inn for my birthday. It was exactly what I imagined: charming, peaceful, relaxing. The staff were all wonderful. Chef/owner Budi oversaw a great dinner last night and chatted with us. There is also a nice wine/cheese hour before dinner, and an excellent breakfast in the morning. The area is filled with nice wineries and farms. Will definitely come back!
