This was a wonderful place to enjoy the lush paradise of Koh Rong Samleom. Staff was accommodative. Sometimes service was slow, but what's the rush when you are having an overall great experience? I'd suggest getting one of the villas near the dining/bar area. At the time they were having problems with their diesel generator but managed to get it fixed before leaving. So we had a few power outages but nothing major. Daily cleaning made the place spotless and a few convenience stores along the beach made it easy to get snacks or entire bottles of wine or liquor quite inexpensively. We were there 12 days and earnestly hope to get to spend a whole month next year.

We stayed here for one night, and it gets a fours star and not five because the transfer we booked and for which we confirmed twice never arrived. Our hotel room and time was still on the board when we checked in.
We had to walk to the hotel to ensure they pick up our luggages, six of them, as there is no way to drag them on the sand.
Management staff were professional and very knowledgeable, with good insights and tips on how to best enjoy the short stay with them.
Room, in comparison to One Resort for example, is smaller but cleaner and hot water works better for shower. Bedding is better too.
Restaurant is functional and also overlooks the sea.
Except for the hotel transfer, I would highly recommend this place.
P.S November, December and January is windy weather on this side of the island.

I rated 4 stars primarily based on my ocean villa. My rating for the staff would be 3 stars as they need to be more attentive.
The resort's taxi boat guy was waiting at the pier to transfer me to the resort. I was also transferred back to the pier.
My room was great. Nice and clean, fresh linen and semi firm mattress. Power point either side of the bed. The aircon unit was the quietest I have come across in a long time and I travel for a hobby. There are a number of different light fixtures which made the lighting adequate. Just enough shelving to lay clothes and a section to hang. I did not use the mozzie net as there was a can of insect spray so I just used that.
Unlike the cheaper bungalows behind which have aircon and fan the ocean villa only had aircon which I found surprising.
The bathroom is of good size with segregated shower area. If you enjoy really hot showers you will be happy here. The basin has hot water as well. Not having somewhere close to the shower to hang your towel was a negative. I did not use the bathtub so can't comment if it would fill up with hot water. The backout curtains do their job. Towels are provided for the beach.
The balcony was a nice size with table and two chairs plus a sofa. There is a foot washer at the bottom of the steps. An unexpected positive was the sensor light which would come on at night so you could see where to put your key if you forgot to turn on the balcony light before going out.
There were only a few menu options from a board but the American breakfast was fine for me. I was surprised I got a real sausage and not a hotdog.
I had dinner at the restaurant one night and had no problems with the food. Yes, if you need to have 100 menu options to choose from then walk down the beach and check out other resort's menus.
Having returned after four years I found most of the beach pretty disgusting with trashed that has been washed in and also the number of runoffs in to the sea with who knows what in it. Though to their credit Sol Beach Resort had staff out cleaning the property's beachfront area from around sunrise.
Overall, I had a comfortable and quiet experience.

During our trip to Cambodia (Siam Reap, Phnom Penh) we decided to spend 2 nights on this beautiful island. Its a bit of a hustle to get there. We took a speedboat from Sihanoukville to the island. Capacity of this boat to travel in comfort is about 25 people, however they allow double as many. On top of that you will travel with bags of food and things that are needed on the small island.
Arriving at the island after a 45 minutes boat ride there was a small boat that took us to the hotel which was only a 10 minutes ride.
The island is beautiful, there is not high rise, no concrete buildings. Sold beach resort has about 15 wood bungalows on the beach.
The boat driver will help you with your luggage. Upon arrival you get a free neck massage. Check in is smooth.
Bungalows are nice and clean. We had a 2 floor bungalow with 2 double beds. There is no TV in the rooms but who needs a TV when you are meters away from a crystal clear beach. What is missing though is a refrigerator or mini bar.
I understand the island has problems with power supply so sometimes power goes off but comes back within seconds.
4G is not working on the island and the hotel wifi is not stable.
Breakfast was ok but nothing special. We did not dinner in the restaurant because we thought there was a bit of lack of atmosphere.
There are no taxis or tuk tuks on the island. You just walk on the beach to neighbouring hotels and restaurants.
There are a couple of little shops nearby where you can buy drinks, cigarettes, snacks, etc...
There are no ATM machines on the island so prepare cash. The hotel however accepts credit cards.
They offer all kind of good and cheap massages at the hotel. They will also help you to book tours and boat trips.
We took a private boat one afternoon to go snorkeling, fishing and see the sunset for only 50 US$.

We (Wife, 12 yo child, & I) stayed here for 4 nights in June, the beginning of the off season. The staff was very friendly, breakfast was good, and the two level bungalow was nice. Under normal circumstances I'd rate it 4* but with adjusted expectations, I give it 5*.

We had originally booked w/ another resort but they also booked a conference and suggested we stay elsewhere. Enter Sol Beach resort.

It was roughly $50 a night less than the previous booking which made the limited menu (there are plenty of other places to eat so no big deal), a wonky toilet seat, and everything being worn-in (but not worn-out) much easier to roll with. If it was just my wife and I - and we could have had a beach front villa, it would have been perfect.

If it's just two of you, stay here, save money and try out other restaurants (our favorite was The One).

We did a beach clean up all day. Most of the bars & resorts along the way helped to clean their space while we were doing the whole beach.

However, the most trash was left on the property of Sol Beach..

When we went there to tell them they needed to clear up their trash, one disgusting staff member told us that he would ‘kick the sh## out of us’ if we came back to check it again.

Please remove this trash, as if is offensive to the island, and to the planet.

I will push this further if not resolved as soon as possible.

We had a wonderful stay in a private bungalow with a private beach in front of us. We can jump into the sea right away from our bed. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was equipped with AC and a fan. Breakfast was yummy and also we tasted very nice local fish in the resort caught by one of their staff.

Stayed for three nights with my adult daughter in a bungalow in the second row.
I was downstairs in the very comfortable double bed with lots of pillows. My daughter was upstairs and tolerated the additional heat up there. We did have a fridge in our room. We used the air conditioning in the room. There is also a fan. The cleaning is good. Sometimes not hot water in the shower as in most places in Cambodia.
I had a fantastic pedicure for $2 and we had a number of massages which were all good. The beach is gorgeous, the water is very shallow so you have to walk far out to swim. I thought the manager was exceptionally helpful - gave good guidance about facilities and trips and ensured our speed boat ferry away from the island functioned well despite the choppy water conditions on the morning we left. We thought the breakfast was good with lots of choice. We thought the lunch/dinner choices were unremarkable and this area of service can be improved. We also thought guests could be encouraged away from placing towels on unused beach chairs for hours, restricting choice for other guests.

If you've decided to go to Koh Rong Samloem with childen (you should!) and you want a resort-ish vibe to your accommodation, this might be your spot. We spent five nights in a second row villa which was clean and large enough for us. It gets hot under the roof though and the fan installed up there is on an impossible mission. Not a deal breaker though. The hotel is suited right on the beach and we enjoyed our stay there very much. I would be happy to give the helpful and friendly staff five stars if it wasn't for the the overall impression of the restaurant and the staff there. The service was extremely slow and waiters had a careless approach that bothered me. Phone notifications were going off in the pocket of our waiter at least every twenty seconds, which is bound to drive you insane at some point and not what you'd expect at a resort with this price point. Food was okay but nothing more. I'm sorry about this negative feedback because the cleaning staff and the boat captain were all excellent and very helpful. I do recommend staying here but some areas could easily be tightened up.

Our starting point for this visit was not optimal. My boyfriend had become sick in the previous accommodation and he was really tired when the boat docked to Sanloem pier. But what a welcome: we were greeted at the pier, taken by a little boat to the hotel, and while our bags were carried to the bungalow, we received a welcome drink and neck massage! After that we were shown to the bungalow, were he could take a warm bath and I started to admire the surroundings. The view from the ocean front bungalow was magnificent, and everything we needed was within 20 meters: the turquoise ocean, the hotel bar and the sunbeds on the white sand. Perfect.
Compared to Koh Rong, this island is peaceful and clean. Sol Beach had very friendly personnel, the bungalows were clean and there was even a well, so no problems with water. You can even throw toilet paper to the toilet! Nice breakfast and good drinks. The location was also optimal close to the center of the Saracen bay.
Warm recommendation for paradise-seekers!

Once you’re back on the main land at Sihanoukville which is the best way to get to the airport? X
Answer from Von Jardin E
Once arriving back at the Ferry Port in Sihanoukville, there are agencies along the pathway(at the port) who can help you in booking Taxi. Or, the hotel can help you book you your own Private Car.

Answer from Von Jardin E
Hi Amer, If you are taking the Ferry, the nearest pier to Sol Beach Resort is Paradise Pier (also known as "Soon Noeng Pier"). Hope this helps! Cheers!
