Detailed Reviews
Fantastic beach front location with a pool and good socialising area, reps were good. Tom at reception really kindly upgraded our room as it was our anniversary during our stay, which was such a nice touch. We were there over Christmas and it was good fun, the xmas dinner was one of the best we’ve ever had! Food isn’t as pricey as people say, yes it is a bit more than what you’d pay on mainland but you’re on a secluded island so it’s expected. The games in the evening encouraged everyone to mix, as well as spontaneous football or volleyball games on the beach

Hey, thanks a lot for staying at Bodega Hostel on Koh Rong Samloem. I am happy that you were pleased with your stay at Bodega. I am also pleased that you liked our food. We have a western chef who's developed our menu, trained our Cambodian kitchen team and makes sure that we keep good standards. I’m not really surprised that our staff were friendly and helpful, they really do work hard to ensure that all our guests are having a great time. I will pass your feedback to Tom. The coastline on this area of Koh Rong Samloem is lovely, unspoiled and away from the louder parts of the island. It’s an excellent beach with excellent views, especially at sunset! We do hope that you'll come back and give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Happy anniversary to you again. Kind Regards from all Bodega Hostel team!

I had a blast at Bodega! This place is amazing, everything is really new, especially the rooms. They are really clean and the beds are large with good privacy curtains. Located right on the beach, with kayaks and paddle boards free to use this is a perfect chill out spot. The events were very entertaining, especially the awesome fire show on the beach. Shout out to the reps for always keeping me entertained! I recommend this place to any traveler whether a group or solo you’ll always feel welcome!

Good afternoon, relaxed in this hotel as part of a promotional tour, transfer from Sihanoukville by boat 30 minutes, island called Koh Rong Sanloy, a quiet, calm island, with inexpensive prices. On the beach there are three hotels and only two restaurants, directly in this hotel and in the Tube Hotel, it is close by, all three hotels are owned by the same owner, the third hotel is Sundy beach, but it is just like a summer cottage. Restaurants have a good menu, prices are not very expensive either, cheaper than in Sihanoukville, cooked for a solid 4. There is seafood, pizza, pasta, meat, fish, etc. The beach at One Beach Resort is a great, wide, clean, calm sea, fine sand, there are many sun loungers and umbrellas, they are added as needed. Rooms are standard simple, no extra furniture, just a stick with hangers in the room, there is a safe and tea making facilities. The area is small, green, of course there are mosquitoes, in the evening do not open doors. There's a little pool by the restaurant. If you climb from the sea on the path up the slide, you can find a cafe-bar there, runs the family, you can sit to see the sea from above, drink beer. You can take a boat to Sihanoukville for $30 one way, just remember that the transfer does not run in the dark! In general, I recommend this hotel, and the whole island, for a peaceful holiday, in peace and quiet. Any questions, write, always happy to help.

Initially read their description and thought that the resort and the hostel were two different entities that were close to each other but it wasn't. A group of us wanted to get away for the long weekend and just relax by the beach in a nice resort but the moment we left the main KR Samloem pier and got towards where Bodega was located, it all went downhill.
You could call it "beachfront" but don't expect a great view or sunset. The beach was dirty and the nearby surrounding was full of construction. Maybe it's different or was different for others but we happened to be there during a time where we just basically saw trash and nope, the beach was not clear or as nice as you'd expect it to be. My suggestion would be to find something north side of the island or even just along the pier where there is so much more choice, clearer water and basically also clean.
I enjoy staying in hostels but this wasn't one of those days when I wanted to stay in a hostel, And clearly, when we got to the reception, we weren't the only ones who thought we were checking ourselves into a 'resort' and there were at least two groups of people who checked immediately.
On the plus side, the room that we booked was fantastic: beautiful and clean. It could be great for anyone who's been backpacking for a while and need some use. Would be better to market this place as just a hostel and change the description

Hello, thank you for staying at Bodega Hostel on Koh Rong Samloem island. We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay with us at bodega beach club. But it does now clearly state that we are a hostel. During your stay we were in the transition period of becoming a hostel, we sent out emails to every guest pre warning them of this and offering a free cancellation as well. We’re constantly working with the local community and helping them in regard to waste management and since your stay a lot of progress has been made and the beach is kept clean. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels. Kind Regards from all Bodega Hostel team!

+1
The location is isolated. It cost $20 in a boat taxi to go anywhere - that’s each way or you need to walk 2 hours going to Sky beach or ride a ATV for 45$ per hour. The beach is covered in litter. It appears that local practice is to occasionally rake all the litter into a pile and some rooms near the generator which you can hear the noise all the time. At the other end of the accommodation is a path with a constant flow of quad bike and motorbikes going past causing noise day and night.
The pillows and mattress were dirty and sweat stained, and some flies in the bed (we think the bed was like a cheap hostel) It’s a shame as this hotel has potential but without investment in terms of cleanliness and an improvement in standards it will only be a disappointment. Not worth what we paid. 😓
Bad WiFi in the rooms far away from the reception. And no room number outside of the room.
Staff was also very kind and helpfull.

We booked this hostel due to the amazing reviews paired with the average hostel prices, and had also stayed at the sister hostel Funky Flashpackers in siem reap, expecting a similar experience to that. While the location, amenities, and staff were all spectacular, the prices of the food and drinks at the restaurant were absolutely ridiculous. By far the most expensive hostel we have come across in many months of travelling south east Asia, and don’t be fooled by the happy hour rip offs either which will only save you money if you’re planning on spending big bucks. Don’t go here expecting typical hostel prices! Around 3/4x the price of food and drinks at the sister hostel and no other options around for alternative food and drinks. Our group ended up spending the final 2 days here without eating or drinking as we had simply run out of money with no atms or other options available. Quite a ridiculous rip off that I will not recommend to any other travellers.

Hi, thanks a lot for coming to Bodega Hostel on Koh Rong Samloem. My apologies that you thought our food was pricey. We do make fresh food each day including our well-liked home-cooked bread. Everything we have has to be obtained and shipped from the mainland which does influence prices. Kind Regards from all Bodega Hostel team!

While we originally booked a stay at the Tube Resort, we were dismayed by the mound of garbage strewn by our Tube Resort bungalow, so we headed next door to the Bodega Resort and booked an ocean-facing bungalow there. We were so glad we changed. The Bodega bungalow was clean and comfortable (a great night’s sleep). The staff was ever friendly and eager to assist. Breakfast (included) was delicious and offered quite a few options. Bunthy and his staff helped to make arrangements for us to go night snorkeling to see the bioluminescent plankton (fantastic!). We also rented a paddleboat. Sandy Beach is a very tranquil, beautiful beach on Koh Rong Sanloem. We had tasty dinners at both Bodega and Tube Resort (on average, entrees were $7 and drinks $2-3). (Given comments about the islands, we were surprised at the great WiFi service. Occasionally, the hotel would turn off power for short periods of time, so WiFi would go out, but never more than 30-45 minutes, and usually with notice.)

Booked for 3 nights and extended for an extra 2 because we had so much fun. It’s a lovely place to relax by day by the beach. There is many activity’s to enjoy from surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding. The staff were great and very friendly. A stand out for my friends and I was the live music by Dylan. He created a brilliant atmosphere and sang lots of songs we wanted to hear. He even left me up to sing a song with him. James is a very nice guy and we enjoyed his service at breakfast and he always came to ask if we needed anything.

This place might have been nice in the past, but right now they are building a new dock and hostel so there’s a lot of construction material on the beach and the atmosphere is not nice at all. Also, the hostel is very expensive and there are no other restaurants so you’re forced to buy everything there. No towels because of poor organization it seems but free shuttle to Saracen Bay which really is the only thing you wanna do when staying here. Not very clean either.

Hi, many thanks for coming to Bodega Hostel on Koh Rong Samloem island. We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay with us at bodega beach club. Unfortunately the construction around the area is out of our hands. We are constantly working with the Khmers who are constructing the new buildings about litter and how to minimize the impact it has while there is construction ongoing. We’re sorry there were no towels for you during your stay this was due to a mix up with our supplier, which has now been resolved. Hopefully we will get the chance to welcome you again in the future. Kind Regards from all Bodega Hostel team!

We arrived at the pier in Koh Rong and the sea was rough. We needed to hire a private boat to take us to the island. However, the sea was rough and we needed to hike from a different beach to the resort with our luggage as the boat could take us around the island. We hiked up a load of steps . There was no response from the resort when we were trying to arrange a lift there which was disappointing. The resort itself was very quiet and due to the remoteness, it didn't have all the menu options available. We booked for 5 nights but left after 2 nights to go back to the main island with more options for food and entertainment. The accommodation was helpful in exchanging our room for one without a view during to the small sober bed that my son was unable to sleep on. Was more like a cot bed.
