Open fires, creaky floorboards and low ceilings. Perfect for a Sunday roast, a tasty sandwich or the slightly more exotic chicken skewers. Great range of ales and ciders and a very chatty bar man. This is a good stop over for walkers and visitors to the John Smedley outlet!

We stumbled upon this pub by accident looking for somewhere to have a coffee but as it was so inviting and the menu tempting we decided to have lunch instead. I had fish and chips and my friends had gammon and scampi. All were served with homemade chips and the fish with homemade tartare sauce. All were generous portions and...

Myself and husband plus 4 other family members reserved a table for Christmas Day and we wasn't disappointed. We had a table in a room with no others, it was sort of mid way from the bar to the restaurant but was so private and ideal for a special day. We had pre ordered and once we arrived the first...

Stayed 4 days in Lea over Christmas and just 100m from this pub, what a stroke of good fortune! Three visits and all faultless. Eleven of us had a meal on evening one, the food was really good, the service really good and the ambience of the pub lovely and welcoming. As a real ale drinker the particular treat was...

Stopped here for 2 nights and had a very comfortable and peaceful stay. Room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed. Staff very friendly, food was fantastic. Would like to stop there again if I was in the area. I would definately recommend this for a quiet break.

We stayed for three nights over a weekend as we were going to a party on the Saturday. This is a most comfortable, friendly pub and has really good food too, both breakfasts and evening meals. Some pubs can be noisy to stay in but we weren't disturbed at all. We liked everything about it. There are lovely walks from...

Arrived at the Inn later than we planned due to our Satnav getting confused by the post code entry. If you plan to use your Satnav just enter Main Road, Lea and you should arrive at your destination without a detour. Lea is off the beaten track so to speak but after you arrive at the Jug and Glass you...

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting Chatsworth Country Fair. Phoned prior to our stay as Sally SatNav got us lost. On arrival we were checked in by Owen, the manager. He has to be the the most helpful guy we have met in all the hotels we have stayed in. Nothing was to much trouble. Our room was a twin...

We stayed here one night. The bedroom was small but very clean and totally adequate. The staff were very obliging and friendly. The evening meal was excellent and we really liked the breakfast. There was a choice of cereal, fresh fruit salad and voghurt, decent orange juice. The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked and in my opinion the ingredients were...
