Terrible owners trying to rip you off while checking out. The not so ameanable landlady bluntly tried to overcharge us despite the poor service offered. We were in three cramped windowless rooms next to the entrance and adjacent to the cuisine. Nobody is smiling in this place probably due to the behavior of the landlady! The diner was below average. We had frozen fish despite their claim of offering fresh fish. The lonely Planet recommendation and some trip advisor review are really surprising. There are many more real casas (this is a hostal) right on the beach ...
Just off the water, Enrique's is a destination place. The food is really good and consistent. The rooms are the best in the town. Whether birding, fishing, or diving....they can help you here to set up your next adventure.
This is a casa particulare with 3 floors and extended back, a street behind the beach. There are rooms on the ground floor and new rooms on the first floor with a terrace on the third level. You can eat either on the ground floor(useful when it is unseasonally cold) or on the first level. The bar is on the first level. The new rooms are superb, beautifully decorated. Our bedroom had a double plus 2 single beds, fridge, plenty of sockets, A/C, minibar but very little storage space. The bathroom was very good, plenty of hot water in the shower plus hand & bath towels. The food was the best we had in Cuba, breakfast, fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, lunch & dinner started with homemade soup, followed by a selection of vegetables, salads, calamari, pork, tuna, rice, chips! bar prices were very reasonable ant the best mojitos in Cuba! The staff were superb.…
What a surprise. Tiny little place like Playa Larga and a very ordinary, unimpressive looking building amongst a multitude of other Casas. BUT through the door it just goes on and on - and on. This was one night stop on a cycle tour. During the whole tour we stayed at a number of casas and a couple of hotels but this casa must be the best. It is an old building, extended in every direction, modernised and really super. The rooms are really modern and well equipped with air con (of course), super "mood" lighting, lovely shower and sanitary wear. The casa is few yards from the golden beach on the picturesque bay (Bay of Pigs) although we didn't use the beach as it was only an overnight stay. The restaurant and bar is covered but open air and on the first floor terrace and the food was delightful both diner and breakfast. The owner and her staff were most friendly and accommodating and made our short stay a delight. Several of us took advantage of the laundry service getting sweaty cycling stuff washed and dried.…
Our group stopped here for lunch and were very happy with it. The food was very good. Soup (extra delicious bean soup!!) and salad served first followed by several different items served family style. All of it was above average for Cuba. After lunch we were allowed to look at a couple of their empty rooms and I was impressed. They seemed clean and in good shape. I would consider staying here - and would definitely eat here again!!
