The...

It's a gorgeous old building - low timbered ceilings, traditional fireplaces, a lovely little bar at one end, lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. This is exactly why we love staying at inns sometimes, rather than hotels. It was so inviting that we stayed in the bar for several hours before heading to our room. The room was...

I stayed couple of nights when in Reading on Business. I hate town centre hotels with road noise, party goers until all hours or noisy air-conditioning. This is a fantastic country pub, very popular with locals for food and celebrations. The rooms are separate from the main building in what looks like a stable block, but is clearly purpose built,...

The venue was excellent, we were seated in the barn conversion banqueting hall - it had a lovely ambience at atmosphere as we shared it with a larger group who were celebrating an 85th birthday. There was a great selection of food and I...

We wanted to spend time with friends who live on the other side of the country, and this was an ideal midway spot. The four of us spent two nights there at the end of October 2016. In the restaurant, the menu and the winelist are very well chosen, and the food, wine and service excellent. The bar is adequate,...

Just got back from a one night Secret Escape's deal at this lovely hotel to celebrate the husband's birthday. Staff very friendly and welcoming, rooms cosy and clean and the food was excellent. We had an amazing three course dinner included in the deal. It couldn't be faulted. The pub is gorgeous and has such a lovely atmosphere. Hobgoblin on...
