easy drive from airport, great surf is right out front .. food is amazing. Surf Guides and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. This camp is as comfortable as you can find. Come and surf, you will not be disappointed.
The stay was spectacular at Casa La Barra. Perfect waves in Puerto Sandino and on the breaks right in front of the house. The staff are very attentive and the food was great. I leave here a special statement for Alexander, the surfguide. Besides being a high-spirited person, he guided us and took care of the group so that we had the best possible experience. Anyway, in addition to recommending Casa La Barra, I would definitely stay there again.
Recently stayed here with my cousin and cannot say enough good things about the experience. We’ve both been to nica before but this place is hands down our favorite. The all Nicaraguan staff took very good care of us in every way possible and left us wanting for nothing. The food is stellar and plentiful, the view out the back is out of a magazine and the variety of un crowded waves in close proximity to the house make this spot an easy choice. To top it off, travel restrictions are no longer in place so do yourself a favor and book casa la barra before the flood gates of surf travel open again.
Honeymoon trip my wife’s first trip. My third trip to Casa La Barra. Beautiful location facility is very clean and well maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and cool. The in-house chef is amazing. And I am a picky eater so she was more than happy to tweak the menu a little bit for me. Cannot wait to go back again.
La Barra to the Rescue We planned a Christmas surf vacation for our family in Nicaragua in early August of 2021. In November the surf camp that we had booked with, canceled our reservations. As we already had nonrefundable airline tickets booked, we were in a difficult situation. We were recommended to look at Casa La Barra surf resort in Miramar. When we spoke to the owner Dave Hall on the phone, we knew right away that we had found a better alternative! He guided us through the entire trip. He was always available by both email and phone. He made sure to give us specific directions for covid testing and coordinated our entire trip with his staff. We were picked up late on Christmas Eve at the airport in Managua by La Barra’s driver Miguel. When we arrived at the resort at almost 12:30 am on Christmas morning, we were surprised to find the entire staff awake, and greeted us with a tour of the property and a full meal. La Barra keeps a full staff for guests including a cooks, boat driver, security, housekeeping and surf coach. The resort is all inclusive with the price. All meals, surf, and transportation are included in the price. The only thing you pay for is drinks at a very reasonable rate. I can tell you that you will not find anything at the same price point in El Salvador or Costa Rica. The staff was amazing! Mahalla and Eva are fabulous cooks. Her chocolate banana bread practically jumped off the plate the moment she put it out. There was an abundance of great food at all times. They made us a special New Years Eve Dinner with lobster and shrimp. Everyone treated us like family. The resort is beautiful and impeccably maintained by the staff. Really, the pictures do not do it justice. It is located directly on the beach with plenty of room to lounge and view the beautiful beach and waves. There is a pool right on the deck that is a great place to cool off after a morning of surf. There is a safe beach break located just a couple steps to the left of the resort. Luis was our surf coach, bartender and guide. He helped us pick out the appropriate surf boards from the immense selection that La Barra has in inventory. (I would guess around 100) He took us to a surf location (by boat or van) of our choice every morning and gave us feedback on our performance. Luis was always able to find perfect waves for us. He had every meal with us and shared his experiences of growing up in Nicaragua. As we do not speak fluent Spanish we could not have navigated the trip without him! We had a wonderful eight days at the resort. We began to feel like Casa La Barra was our home! We were very sorry to leave to come home on New Years Day. We definitely plan on returning! Without hesitation, we give La Barra our highest recommendation! We feel very lucky to have been part of the La Barra family. dave@astadventures.com…
It was a perfect week at Casa La Barra! The staff is perfect - making fresh meals every day, having drinks always ready, and accommodating and flexible to any request. There is something for everybody from adventurous activities like ash boarding and surfing to relaxation activities like yoga. I could’ve stayed at the house all day everyday and I can’t wait to go back to do it!
Casa La Barra did not disappoint in every aspect! We had gone for a birthday and all of us were beginner surfers. The staff did such a good job of taking care of us and felt like familia by the end of the trip. The rooms are clean and well taken care of and the house and views are incredible. One of the best experiences!
Such an incredible experience. Staff was more than accommodating, they met every expectation and more. The food was a definite highlight, everything was so authentic and freshly made everyday. Left this country feeling cleansed and wanting more. From the excursions, surf lessons, night swims and day to day adventures, I can't wait to go back in 2022! Greatly appreciate all efforts in making our experience life changing. I would highly recommend Casa La Barra Surf Resort!
This is the place I really learned to surf. When we came here, both of us had surfed a bit before, but catching an open wave is totally different from standing up in a little white water on a foam board. Twice a day for a week with our instructor Alex taught me to love surfing. He's an amazing professor of the sport, because he loves it so much. He is totally committed to surfing, and he takes it seriously and expects that from his students, too. It was such a positive experience I can't wait to go back. We went surfing after late nights out, after a hot day spent hiking and volcano-boarding--by the way, Nicaragua is a one of a kind place filled with good people, and the people at Casa la Barra are the best. Warmth, kindness, friendship, great food--it is the best way to live. I had so much fun. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life.…
I had such an amazing time at Casa La Barra. You're treated like family from the second you get there until the minute you leave. The food was amazing, the people are amazing, and of course the surf was all time! I traveled there by myself but never felt lonely because Casa La Barra attracts the coolest people to stay there. I left a better surfer and have a ton of new friends that I will definitely keep in touch with. I can't wait to go back!
