Been a few times when visiting York. Staff are always superb, sat and had some lovely beer and gin, didn't eat on this occasion but have previously and it was lovely. Will definitely be back when we get back to York which is twice a year. If you're in the area, make this pub a must!

Very disappointed We accepted a wait of a hour when it was explained that the Chef had to go home The rib eye steak was two thick slices of ordinary meat We inquired of its provenance and the lady who served us didn't know !!!! What wasn't so good when we had finished our meal no one came to see... More

Myself and 6 family members visited the pub for an evening meal. There were plenty of tables booked and the pub looked thriving - luckily we had our own separate area because of our little dog. The portions were huge, especially the fish and chips!! I'd definitely recommend it. 2 members of the family were staying at the pub whilst... More

I went for Sunday lunch with my daughter and 4 year old grandson. We all went for the veggie roast which was huge, quickly served and great value. The desert menu looked lovely but we just couldn't eat any more! The pub has a nice courtyard and small beer garden and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. If you're... More

The table was ready on our arrival and we were welcomed into the pub. The food was good and reasonably priced. This is a pretty village close to York and is frequented by walkers and locals alike, which is what it caters for. Although clean, some of the tableware could do with an update but having said that it was... More

Travelled to the fleece for a nearby wedding. Landlord and Lady were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was more than ample and very nice. Rooms are chalet like annex to the pub so no noise. Unfortunately didn't have chance to eat and drink at the pub in the evening but will definitely return to see if the beer and food... More

Fantastic little pub. Really accommodating and food is lovely. Owners were really friendly as were regulars. Would definitely recommend for a really beautiful, quaint local pub. Would definitely come here again

Stayed here with a customer on a Monday night, arrived 9pm as customers train was late arriving into York from Scotland but was made very welcome even though place was quiet because food not served on a Monday like most village pubs now days. Room clean & comfortable. Breakfast very good. Will definitely stay again.

Set in a very attractive village at the foot of the Wolds with a stream tumbling gently though the centre. Good access by road or public transport. The village hosts a beautiful church, a post office, and an art gallery. The pub has some character. The landlord keeps his beer to an excellent standard.

Cosy, warm, comfortable little country pub. Louise, Russ, Lewis and Izzy, make you feel welcome and comfortable. The food is amazing. The new Chef Luke makes delicious meals. All round Personal touch. Great little B & B rooms too. Live music sometimes too. Highly recommended for a visit. 😊
