I was on holiday in Crete at the end of September. The weather was excellent, not hot, you could sunbathe, walk, the sea was warm.
I chose the hotel for a quiet and relaxing holiday. It is located in the south of the island in Damnoni Bay, where you can enjoy the untouched nature of Crete.
The transfer to the hotel is long: 2-3 hours, but during this time you can see the island.
The hotel is small, there is a restaurant, a pool bar with a beautiful view of the sea.
I had a standard double room with panoramic windows offering a wonderful view of the sea and mountains. It is not big, there is a TV, a refrigerator, a tea set, slippers, a bathroom, towels, a hairdryer, a safe, air conditioning, and a balcony with a clothes dryer. Wi-Fi signal is good and fast throughout the hotel.
The food is tasty but monotonous: chicken, fish, meat, meatballs, vegetables, fruits, sweets, cola, tea, cappuccino, tequila, gin, local vodka, wine, beer. No one will remain hungry.
There is no animation.
The beach is not far, 5-10 minutes leisurely. Those who find it difficult can use a free minibus that takes them to the beach. The sea is magnificent, the water is clean and transparent. The beach is sandy, the entrance to the sea is gentle, no coral is required, no sea urchins. The hotel has its own sun loungers and umbrellas. On the beach there are changing cabins, showers, and taps for washing your feet from sand. Beach towels are provided against a deposit of five euros.
There are many beautiful bays and beaches nearby. You can walk through the olive grove to the village of Plakias, where there is a promenade, many taverns and restaurants, supermarkets and souvenir shops. A small yacht runs from the hotel beach to Preveli Beach, Marmara Beach, Loutro.
I really enjoyed my holiday here, the sea is gorgeous, the nature is amazing, there is something to see and places to take a walk. This is the place for those who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the sea and mountains.

We visited Crete at the end of August 2021. The hotel is small but has everything needed:
- All inclusive (meals three times per day + free drinks like in Turkish/Egypt hotels) + you could order a pack with you
- Free Wi-Fi in the room
- Parking zone
- Great sea shore in 7-10 minutes far from the hotel (+transfers to the beach from the hotel)
- A small pool (but never tried one)
- There also a couple of great restaurants on Damnoni beach
There were some cons:
- Hotel is a bit far from the airport
- Strange smell in the bathroom
- You need to get up early so you can have more variety for the breakfast :)
All of that could make you stay calm and peaceful. But if you want to visit other parts of the island you could take a few tips below.
There is a bus station in Plakias (20-25 minutes far from the hotel) - you could get to north island from there. And there is Preveli not far from the hotel (you could get round trip ticket on a boat for €15 from Damnoni beach).
It’s more convenient to discover island with a car (there is car rent not far from the Damnoni beach or you can do it directly from the hotel). That could upgrade you trip experience to whole new level!
Crete is great island with delicious food and interesting places to visit (like Kournas lake or Episkopi beach). The north part of the island is more lively and active with beautiful big beaches while the south one is more quiet and calm with a small cozy bays.
Enjoy your stay on Crete!

The charm of southern Crete.
We rested at the Sokol Resort for 19 nights, in July 2024.
Our holiday was preceded by long turmoil - booked early, through Join Up, prepaid, later found out that the flight dates had changed, well, that's fine; then more:
at the beginning, the Joynov search engine appeared information "stop sales" to this hotel - we immediately checked with the owner of the hotel Galina (found her phone number in the reviews on one of the travel websites, and were in constant contact with her after learning about all the nuances of this hotel and this particular part of Crete) and contacted our travel agent - a couple of weeks before the flight we tried, as another girl wrote in the review, to transfer us to the hotel Erie Village - scared that the Falcon was reselling rooms, etc. - we disagreed)
Two people played a huge role in this defense of our choice - our super-Pro travel agent "Sea of Tours" Victoria and the hotel owner - charismatic, concerned Galina - it was they who together with us did everything to ensure that we rested exactly where we wanted and how we wanted!!!)))
Didn't regret it once!!!)
Hotel - super - is such a relaxing oasis by the sea, in the mountains, outside the city - only nature - high mountains, cliffs, church, which can be seen from the beach, restaurant, and panoramic room windows!)
And what a pleasure to sit at a table above the pool, drink your favorite drink and just look at the sea - rest your eyes and soul!)
In this part of Crete, thanks to the absence of cities, its smell - mountain grasses, flowers, olive groves, palm trees, pomegranate trees, oleanders, araucaria!)
The hotel has its own beach at the point where the mountain stream flows into the Libyan Sea - there is a bridge over the river from which we have always fed fish, crabs and turtles living in the river!)
The sea is deep, not hot, very beautiful, literally emerald color - here you can snorkel and diving - the water is very clean and transparent - quite rich underwater world!)
All this is in one of the best bays of Crete - Damnoni - even in strong winds you can always swim in it!)
From the hotel take an excursion to the gorge of Kurtaliotica, to the waterfalls and to the monastery in the mountains)
You can go from Plakias by bus (or car) to Rethymno - see the old town, the Venetian fortress, swim in the Aegean Sea (another sea of the Mediterranean basin).
We went on excursions through the Kalamaki Agency Guide Olga, because our Guide didn't even want to come to the hotel, said "far away" (nonsense - this is the first time we meet this host - as they started with a huge queue in the hot sun at the airport, and continued to "receive" further, up to the organization of the hotel-airport transfer - it is as if they don't need tourists).
We are very grateful to the real professional Olga for his time, for his advice, for the map of Crete), for the organization of all our excursions, for the knowledgeable and talented tour guide Mariana, for the impeccable care of comfort at literally every stage of every excursion - all advise the agency "KALAMAKI" - you will remain very satisfied, encouraged and in love with Crete for real!)
But ... the main asset of the Falcon Resort is ... PEOPLE, TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS who will always come to the rescue, give the right advice, solve any problem, always benevolent and concerned)
THANK YOU so much.
Hotel owner GALINE - a real "little owner of the big house" (like Jack London);
workers at the reception of MICHAEL , ELENA and ANATOLIA ;
Bartenders Emmanuella and YASMIN;
Waiters Dimitri, ALEXEY and ALEXANDRA;
driver ALEXANDER and master "golden hands" SVIATOSLAVO (SAVE);
to the head of the maids HOPE and our maid NINA;
and of course to the chef and pastry chef LAZARUS and his assistant STAS!)
Wish you all health, prosperity, well-being, harmony, grateful guests!)
Thank you very much in all languages!!!)))
We recommend this hotel to all who know how to find happiness even in small things enjoying life in all its manifestations!)
See you later, the Falcon is our Cretan bird of happiness!
We'll definitely be back!)

I really liked the hotel. The rooms are good, everything corresponds to the photographs. The room has a free safe, kettle with tea and dishes. And the most wonderful thing was the beautiful view from our balcony of the mountains and the sea, It’s about 8 minutes walk to the beach, and there is a minibus that takes you to the beach. Umbrellas and sunbeds for free are another plus. In addition to our beach, there is also Calypso beach about 15-20 minutes, and Behind our beach about 10 minutes in a cove between the rocks is another wonderful beach, there are sunbeds for a fee. , We had all inclusive meals. Everything was well prepared and fresh. From fruits there were apples, oranges, watermelons, pears, there were also canned pineapples and peaches. From desserts: croissants buns with raisins, biscuits and baskets. There were also constantly sliced vegetables. From meat chicken, pork, ham sausage. In the bar there was wine, tequila , rum, gin. The service staff is good, the administrator at the reception Eteri is wonderful, she always suggested everything, answered any questions and helped. All the staff speak Russian, at the reception plus English. In general, summing up all of the above, who wants a relaxing holiday with beautiful views and nature? also by the sea and a good hotel, come to Sokol Resort/

Only good words can be said about this hotel. Even if you want to say something bad, you can't, it's just top level 😄🚀
The food is delicious every day, you can eat to bits 😄
Cleaning every day, sea 300 meters from the beach. There is also free transportation, but we preferred to walk, the beauty is indescribable)
Cars nearby can be rented, myself rented for 2 days, affordable prices for all.
Relaxed with the girl for a week, the staff understanding, always help, on any question: Bartender - Dimka (Talented musician besides this), Anatoly (Reception, Handsome in every sense), Lesha (Service, good-natured and company), Valentina (golden woman who cleans, every day), Misha (Manager, nurtured and helps in everything) and 3 other girls who worked for the service, (forgot their names, for this I apologize) Beauties ❤️
I'm a musician myself (Fiddler), I go to many countries with concerts, and I've been to different hotels. This is one of the best I've ever been in, I'll be back here again and again! Can't wait to meet everyone soon 😍
No regrets, everyone. 🚀

Very old outside but the rooms partially renovated the breakfast very poor I think it is better of my house... the girl at her reception had said I want two rooms because we are 3st and gave us two double and as we arrived she told us that she had no triple .... And that if he finds us he will charge us 50€ extra ...I think for his money is too much .....
