Price was excellent but the rooms were worn out. The location is great for touring Gangwondo, but again they need to update the furniture and appliances in the room. We have stayed here twice and had the same problem both times

Nice room and a promising facility but that's were it ends. The corridors are worn, elevators not maintained (do not stop on every floor), cleaning in public areas average, shops are empty, no bath towels provided, internet only in the lobby area... It's actually not a bad hotel and the rooms are nice but seems like management has given up entirely.

We have spent 3 nights over lunar new year at Mayhills resort. Very happy with the size of the room- 1 double bed & korean style bedding for our 2 teenagers. The kitchenette- fridge and stovetop are convenient and gave us the option to bring groceries and cook / heat up breakfast or dinner options. The shuttle service is very regular and a 5 minute trip to Valley condo where lift tickets can be purchased quite easily. Did not try the restaurants in the hotel but there are a lot of local restaurants that deliver food which is handy after a long day skiing. Would recommend for functionality and convenience and would stay again. The 2 downsides for us- not daily housekeeping and hotel reception not overly helpful or accommodating.

We chose this hotel, because the price is much lower than High 1. The hotel was rather easy to find, and they have a shuttle bus directly to the Valley condos of High 1, where you can rent ski's and buy the lift pass etc. Note that with a Shinhan bank card you get quite a good discount on those. The hotel also rents skis and supplies, including clothing, good quality as well. We stayed in a twin room with 3 people, the 3rd person (child) sleeping on the Korean style mattress (on the floor). The room temp was set to 27 degrees, way too hot. We had a balcony door and left that open for a while to cool the room down till 22 degrees. At night we also left the window slightly open to get fresh air. The kitchenette is a nice extra, and you might be able to prepare a meal there; utensils provided are only spoons and chopsticks, so if you need a knife (and fork) bring your own. You could bring your rice though, a ricecooker is standard. Also bring a bath towel, they only provide face towels. So after taking a nice hot shower, drying is a bit of a challenge. No soap, shampoo or other amenities are supplied. Worst thing about the hotel is the elevator. In the weekend, when it is probably fully booked, it can take very long waiting. We stayed on the 7th floor, and on Sunday we checked out, so I tried to take the elevator to go down. I started clocking the waiting time, and left it running when several times I could not enter the fully packed lift. I stopped the clock after 14 (!!) minutes, when I decided to take the elevator up to the 12th floor first, so at least I was already inside. Horrible.

This resort is a GEM if you're skiing in High 1. Shuttle bus ride takes only 3min, starts fr 845am and runs every half hr in the morning and every hour after noon till 11pm. In my opinion, there's no point paying a premium to stay within the High 1 Resort itself coz you have to take shuttle bus to your ski start point anyway. Best part of this hotel is the ski shop located on its 1st level. We enagaged a ski instructor through them and paid 120,000 won for 2 pax for 2 hours of lesson. Though the instructor knows limited English, we picked up just fine, since most skills can be demonstrated through universal actions. Thank God for this huge savings as the High 1 ski resort charges exhorbitant price for ski lessons (almost 4x more!!). The shop also offers 30% discount on the ski passes/ gondola lift passes. Rental of the gear was also at a steep discount vs High 1. All in all, thanks to the ski shop, we saved a lot for our 3 days of ski. We chose indol type of room. It was warm and cosy, with a small kitchenette. Amenities within are basic but sufficient. There is a Convenience store Iocated in B1 which we got our breakfast and supper from. As per most of the reviewers feedback, indeed, the hotel and ski shop staff do not speak English. Whenever we need to communicate with them, we will tap on the wifi at the lobby and use google translate to show them our message in Korean. And tadah! Everything is resolved! You just have to be more creative, it's not a big issue to us at all! :) I'll definitely stay in Mayhills if I come back to High 1 again.
