We stayed two nights with our twin 2 year olds, great location... walking distance to village. My girls loved the llamas and the playground. Home was large, rustic, and clean, so we were happy. Plus, liked the self check in/out process, very east. I’d recommend!

Wow!! I must say the Pine Knot Guest Ranch was awesome!! My husband and I always want to go to the mountains, but are never quite sure where to stay. Now we know!! The Pine Knot is cute, the owners are friendly and it is very very clean (which is very important to me!!). From the moment we arrived we knew we had found something special. They have llamas to pet and bunnies to feed and a playground for if you have children. The area the cabins are located in is also great. A short walk to restaurants, the lake, shops and even little movie theaters!! I could go on and on....basically it was a wonderful trip and we will for sure go back!!

We stayed at the Pine Knot Guest Ranch in August. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children aged 11,9 and 5 from England. We booked the Pine Knot for 3 nights at the end of our holiday in California. What a delight to stay somewhere so clean, comfortable and well presented. Gloria made the booking really easy and was there to meet us when we arrived. We stayed in Big Bear Getaway and it was really beautiful - we didnt want to leave. We would recommend this accomodation to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. This was really the best part of our holiday. We would love to go back some day and we wouldnt want to stay anywhere else.

We were initially thrilled with the the cleanliness and spaciousness and charm of our two story A frame cabin, but things weren't so nice once we tried sleeping.

The mattress in the master bed was not much softer than sleeping on a carpeted floor. I didn't last more than an hour before pain forced me to sleep on the futon downstairs (my kids were already sleeping in the loft, which had a decent mattress BTW.) The futons downstairs were a nightmare. Both were extremely lumpy and soft. One futon was actually broken, so I slept on the non-broken one, but it still was uncomfortable and you could feel the springs in the middle of the mattress where I kept falling into.

Other things that could be improved are the window coverings. There is a huge two story window wall that is nice to look through, but no way to cover so you can sleep in. This applies to the loft bed and the downstairs futons. There also were no lights over the coffee table area, so we couldn't play board games there, and the lights on the patio were too dim.

Finally, we were notified via our check in papers that we were expected to wash our dirty dishes. This after paying a hefty cleaning fee already. We are used to hand washing our own dishes at home, so we thought no big deal, but then we realized that there was no dishwasher to sterilize the dishes in and we had already eaten off of dishes previous guests probably hand washed. Not exactly what you want to think about during a pandemic.

This place has potential, but I won't be coming back because I need a good night's sleep.

Was impressed with this cabin when we walked in but thoroughly grossed out about the bedding... there were a ton of popcorn crumbs when I pulled back the top sheet and dirt/hair on the comforter. I brought my own sheets and comforter to use instead of theirs but still disgusted. Led me to believe the rest of the cabin isn’t properly cleaned in between visits. If you’re a germ freak like I am, maybe avoid...

We stayed in the bungalow.... Wow is all I can say! This place was disgusting. The couches and rocking chair were so dirty we were afraid to sit on them. Upon check in the lady told us the couple that stayed in the cabin before us had a large dog that shed a lot so they threw a blanket over the couch to we wouldn't have to sit on all the hair!!! The bed was filthy!! The sink smelled. The closet was missing the door so all we could stare at was the huge pile of dirty blankets that were stuffed on top of the shelf. Do not waste your money!!

We stayed for a long weekend. The cabin was cute, very clean and comfortable. But there were some problems. The jacuzzi jets in the 2 person tub are weak. Most of the microwave buttons didn't work, VCR didn't track making tapes unwatchable. We did report the problems to the owner who seemed disinterested. What I objected to most was the minor resort fee that was tacked onto the quoted rate, not because of the amount - it was minor - but because it wasn't disclosed either on the website or by phone when I made the reservation.

I stumbled upon this place online and saw that it was rated #1 on Trip Advisor. The prices were very reasonable, the pictures of the property were nice, so I figured we should give it a shot.
We were pleasantly suprised at the clean, cozy, quaintness of our little cabin. It truly felt like home away from home. My husband is a work aholic that never takes time for little trips and he was blown away. He can't wait to come back!!!... so I owe something for opening my husbands eyes to trying new things, and getting away for some R and R. We brought our 2 children and they loved it just as much as we did. It was romantic even with the kids there. It would be perfect for a couple get away for an anniversary or special celebration. The barn was a nice touch that we all enjoyed. We held the bunnies, fed the llamas....so much fun! This place is also away from alot of traffic, so it was very quiet and secluded, yet still very close to the heart of town. The owners were very kind, considerate, and on top of everything. We will definately be back, and recommending this place to friends!!

My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary on October 2, 2007. We decided to stay again at Pine Knot Guest Ranch. We have previously stayed here 4-5 times in the past, once for as long as a week. This time was for three nights. We payed for two nights with the 3rd night free with their fall special on their web site. Cost was about $235.00 with taxes etc.

When we called to make our reservation with Robin months earlier, we decided to stay in cabin #14. In the past, we stayed in #16 but we wanted to try another cabin and Robin suggested #14.

Unfortunately a few days before our arrival, my wife became sick. Instead of forfeiting and paying for the first night, we decided to go up the hill anyway.

Upon checking in with Gloria (one of the owners) I explained my wife's illness and asked what would happen if we just stayed one night. Gloria said that we could have a certificate for a future free night.

As usual, the property looked great. Our cabin was very clean with a jacuzzi, small stove, refrigerator and pots & pans and a wood stove. Nice to have the option of eating here instead of always going out. Also had new carpet and mattress. I don't think you can find a better value in Big Bear. We had plenty of room and didn't feel cramped.

After our first night, my wife wasn't feeling any better so we decided to go back home and use the certificate for a free night at a later time. (Thanks Gloria!)

If you want a great place to stay, walking distance to the stores, restaurants and movie theatres, this is a great choice.

Thanks for reading.

I have a family of 5. Will we fit comfortably in one of your cabins?
Big Bear Lake, California
The Resort Cabins have a King size bed in the main room and a Full size bed in the second room. So it kind of depends on the kids ages. We also manage Vacation Homes that can accommodate from 2-12 guests. Thanks, Larry
