The Big Bear Frontier had a rustic vibe that was quite enjoyable. I had a room in the hotel section instead of a cabin, and it was quite comfortable. There is no air conditioning but my room had a ceiling fan as well as an oscillating fan so it was cool enough, although I had to keep a window open. There is an in-room fireplace, which I obviously didn't need in August but which would be fun to have in the winter. The room had a table with two chairs but I would have liked to have had a more comfortable chair to sit in to read or watch TV. The tub/shower was badly cracked on the bottom and the faucet on the sink was loose and sloppy, making it a bit hard to adjust the water temperature. Perhaps management could pay a little more attention to these details but my one night stay was fine overall. Like most hotels in the area, the price was much higher on the weekend.…
My family first tried Frontier Resorts about 8 years ago on the recommendation of a friend. We have been coming her every summer since then and always stay in the same cabin. It's true it needs a face lift.....If you want luxury don't stay here. But it's quiet, and staring out at the lake from our porch helps us to de stress. It is comfortable, has a tiny kitchenette if you want to eat some meals in and has a pool and hot tub at the clubhouse. The property is beautiful, making you feel like you are in the woods. Plus it's pet friendly and close to the Village, a great park, hiking and a family fun center.
We stayed for 2 nights at Big Bear Frontier and booked a studio cabin with whirlpool. The room was cute and clean but carpet was filthy. We used the whirlpool tub during our stay, however, there were black tiny debris that comes out every time we used it and the hot water does not last long. Also, stain from the jetters are very visible. The kitchen appliance are also outdated. The person at the front desk is not very welcoming & lacks customer service. The good thing about this property is it's walking distance to the village and lake.
We paid $275 for one night at the dumpiest place we have ever stayed at. We are not snobs, just blue collar workers and expect to get what we paid for. When you get a one bedroom cabin with a kitchen, you expect certain things. The place was broken down and dirty, see attached photos. Didn’t have any of the basic cooking essentials you would expect to have, everything was Dollar Store plastic, my plate broke in half while eating dinner. We had to clean the outside furniture before we could sit down see white rag photo, did we mention the $275 per night. Avoid this place like the plague and maybe they will get the message!!! Very dated and obviously the owners don’t care!!!!!
We enjoyed our stay in Cabin 10. We enjoyed the whirlpool bath and the nice large deck. The property is very nice close to the village and the lake. We spent our 31st wedding anniversary here and it was very nice. It is dog friendly which is a must for us. Also many restaurants in the village are dog friendly as well.
