Stayed at the Robinhood Resort with my family. Its right next to the Big Bear Village, at the intersection of 18/Pine Knot Avenue. We stayed here for a night and walked around the village that evening, all the restaurants were open (takeout only). The room was small and smelled. The bathroom was tiny! The beds were uncomfortable and the walls were thin and you could hear the people next door. the room had a wall heater. I wouldnt really call this a resort, its more of a motel. It is about 2 miles from snow summit. The only positive is the location, everything else is negative about this place.
This was our worse experience with a hotel! We booked a room overnight to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, on a weekday for peace and quiet. We ended up leaving at 12:30 in the morning!!!! 1. The pipes made a sound like a train every time the toilets flushed, ok I get it...old pipes, however, the neighbors kept going to the bathroom every 10 mins. I called front office to ask for a room change, I was told that any room would have that sound and they cannot prevent our neighbors from going to the restroom. 2. No air conditioning, only a fan and a window- which would have been fine if the downstairs neighbors weren't smoking pot and playing music like they were at a greatful dead concert!! Another call to the front office, response was they can do what they want and since it is only 10:30 we cannot stop the music until 11:00pm. Still no offer to change rooms, even at my suggestion!!! 3. 11:30- party still raging downstairs, call front office...sad it will be taken care of! 4. 12:30- packed up, we are done, go to turn in keys, front office says...well I can probably find you another room, are you sure you don't want to stay!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
The location was great across from the lake and easy walking to Big Bear Village! Unfortunately, we didn't have good experiences with the rooms. The first one we received at check in did not have air conditioning (the listing on Tripadvisor indicates a/c is included in rooms). The patio door was open for to allow for air circulation but the room was on the ground floor and steps away from the restaurant so it didn't appear that the room could be secured. Given this, we requested a different room and received one on a second floor (steps, no elevator) and different building with a wall a/c unit. Once the a/c was running and fans appropriately circulating, the temperature was fine in the room (outside was 90-100 degrees). The cleanliness was in question because there were pieces of rice on the couch and pieces of shredded cheese on the carpet in the living room area along with a fruit sticker and piece of cracker by the bed. The bathroom appeared clean but the fan sounded like a loud, awful lawnmower and the shower head did not spray water as it should. All-in-all, it was a more quiet room and appeared to be more secure but the cleanliness was certainly of question. We booked this because it was an unexpected weekend away and it appeared to be the only lodging location left in the immediate vacinity. Would book ahead if returning to Big Bear and would choose differently for lodging.…
Basic accommodations that met our requirements for sleeping and showering. The stairs up to the second floor and the AstroTurf hallway set us up for lower expectations. We were pleasantly surprised that Rooms are at least partially updated. Room was spacious enough for 2 adults and small baby. Beds were comfy for sleeping with newer comforters. Shower had good pressure. Bathroom had updated vanity and toilet. Room did not have AC, but did have ceiling fan for daytime summer comfort. (Heater looked scary and probably original to the building.). Room cooled down at night as July night temps dropped to the 40’s. Location was walking distance from lake and the Village. Restaurant patio was only apparent resort feature that was open.
CONS: First of all, this is not a resort. It's a very tired motel. We checked into Room 24, presumably a handicap accessible room. The website picture was not a fair representation of the room. No comfort chairs. The room was not completed to meet ADA standards. The toilet was a small standard toilet, not ADA. The area for hanging clothes was so high you needed a ladder. The grab rails functioned as towel racks. Pillows: bring your own. If you want to read in bed, bring your own lamp. There are 2 overhead fan/lamps. There was a huge stain on the cement in front of our room. Something spilled and was not cleaned up. PROS: Ample parking. Park in front of the room, so it's just a few steps to the room. Walking distance to lake and to Village. The "motel" should have paid us to stay there. Very disappointed.…
