Since the first minuted we arrived to this chateau, we felt welcome and delighted. Claude and Leyla are amazing hosts, and they were very good recomending what to do in the area. Every detail of the service was perfect. The Chateau is beautiful and is decorated with a wonderful taste, and beautiful antiques. The grounds are also beautifull. This place...

From the first moment that we were greeted by Leyla we felt welcomed and delighted to have arrived. This was at the end of a 2 week trip and we were thrilled with the authenticity and appealing eclectic blend of the chateau. Claude Hubert was so welcoming and we were thrilled to spend our last two nights of the vacation...

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Can't fault this place at all! Beautiful accommodation, food and service. My family ranged from age 13 to 83 and all of us had a very relaxing stay. It is well placed for vineyards and Chateau de Chaumont. We hope to visit again.

We stayed at this beautiful chateau as part of our honeymoon. It was an amazing looking place steeped in history and made to look spectacular from the outside. The rooms were a little tired and creaky but this added to the character! The food was fantastic, especially the breakfast and the brioche was a work of art. A thoroughly enjoyable...

Stayed here at the beginning of August for five nights as a family with three children. Incredibly relaxing with beautiful rooms, gardens and swimming pool. Claude could not do enough for us organising various activities and serving incredible food and wine. Really felt like you were living in your own serviced Chateau.

We returned this year, having had such a relaxing, enjoyable stay last year, and I think we'll be going back again. The chateau is small and beautiful, incredibly comfortable and has so many individual and personal touches that it creates an ideal setting to really relax. Claude and his staff are delightful; very attentive, kind and thoughtful. This place is...

Chateau du Portail is a very special property: although you cannot call it a chateau by size and design (it looks more like a large country house with 5 - 6 guest rooms), it has tons of charm and personality making it a great place to stay. This is a place where we felt at home throughout our stay: the...

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and interesting, the location perfect for visiting the chateaux, the food truly delicious and the Jack Russells welcoming. What more can you ask? I suppose you could ask for a pleasant and helpful host. Claude Hubert is so much more than that. His whole raison d'être is ensuring that you have a marvellous stay. He...

My partner and two close friends stayed at the Chateau du Portail for 3 nights over Easter, partly to celebrate my birthday but mostly to relax and enjoy a bit of the lovely cuisine and wine in the region. We've visited the region before but opted to try somewhere new as grown a bit tired of the accommodation options in...

“We have stayed in 3 out of the 5 rooms and they were all gorgeous”

“We stayed in the Myosotis room and our friends in the ground floor room. Both beds were very comfortable. Our room was accessed via two sets of stairs and looked out over the estate. The bathroom to our room was outside our room but as there is no one else on the floor you can take the chance to pop out without a bathrobe. The ground floor room although comfortable and with a beautiful integrated bathroom was hot at night as you cannot control the heating - so you'd better like sleeping in a warm room.”
