Grotta Giusti is located in Monsummano Terme just a few kilometres from Florence, Pisa and Lucca.Set in a private park with secular trees, the early nineteenth century villa, now a prestigious Hotel, enriched by antique furnishings and paintings, has maintained intact its historical air and natural charm. The 58 double rooms and 6 Junior Suites, furnished in a refined, fresh style, offer unexpected details such as the bathrooms in luxurious white marble with thermal water on tap. The Hotel is directly connected to the Spa, which has a modern Wellbeing Centre with an Oriental area, equipped gymnasium, numerous relaxation areas and a medical aesthetic centre. The Spa also has an open air pool with 750 square metres of thermal water, picturesque cascade and underwater hydro-massages and the large millennial Grotta to end the day with a beneficial, relaxing "steam bath". Immersed in the park are the fresh water swimming pool, tennis court and fitness walk with further trekking courses for excursions in the surrounding countryside. And, just a few kilometres from Grotta Giusti, an 18 hole golf course.

We went on a group holiday with work and we had an amazing time. The food at the restaurant is top class, beautiful cocktail bar and we couldn't fault the service. The spa is fantastic, so serene and clean. There are several pools and the area around the hotel is really great for walking. The visit to the grotta is a must. We also had a yoga class in the grotta and it was a very special experience. I would love to go back!

Hotel's Favorite
My husband and I spent a few days in Tuscany and we absolutely LOVED this hotel! Not only is it beautiful with spacious rooms and bathrooms, amazing views of the grounds, a giant pool, and fantastic spa but the staff is amazing! When we arrived we had rental car issues and ultimately could not get a car (the Hertz nearby from where we reserved and who sent us confirmation is actually closed until September 2022). One of the concierge gentlemen was so helpful. He spent hours helping us to find, book, and price out a private driver so we could make our tours and tastings and see as many areas of Tuscany as we could. He really went above and beyond to help us out and we couldn’t have appreciated it more. Additionally concierge gave us the most incredible recommendation for dinner (Trattoria da Marino, a must for anyone in the area) and they even called to make sure we could get in. As far as our stay, itself, it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. Our room had a balcony over the entrance so we had beautiful views. We booked massages which were incredible. And we had a really delicious dinner there our final night. Couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience or better service.

This is a wonderful quiet area to stay in Tuscany. We enjoyed the Grotto and hot pool. One of our favorite things in the area was hiking to Monsumano Alto (the church & ruins on the hill above the resort). There is a trail from the resort. We didn’t find that until our last day (you can walk there through town as well). We visited Montecatini Terme (a beautiful resort town nearby), Collodi (Pinocchio town), Lucca (impressive walled city), and farther flung San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa, & the Cinque Terre during our stay. A car was critical for us.

This hotel has the potential to be much more. Unfortunately the staff and management do not know how to do so. They were lucky to become a part of Marriott, and somehow receive a 5* rating - which drew and will draw a significant number of Americans. But make no mistake - this is not a 5* property - what is lacking is service, atmosphere, and any and all kind of refinement.

Response from Max venturelli, General Manager at Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort Tuscany
Responded Oct 10, 2022
Dear Roman G., Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our resort. It is upsetting to read that we were not able to deliver our services up to your expectations in this occasion. It is always very useful to receive feedback. This gives the opportunity to focus on improvements, with the goal in mind to better ourselves. I truly wish to welcome you again in the near future, should your travels bring you back to Tuscany. Kind regards

Beautiful grounds and rooms. Free access to thermal spa pools and sauna that are attached which were really nice quality, as is the breakfast buffet. Front desk staff are also very helpful and assisted us in arranging a hire car for a day. We also received a lovely welcome gift in our suite as we were celebrating a special anniversary which was a great touch. Would love to return if we are in Tuscany again.

What a gorgeous hotel! We booked last minute and when we arrived they had upgraded us. Happy days. We had a fabulous room with our own private terrace with sofas, a table & umbrella. The bedroom was beautiful with a super comfortable bed. There were 2 clothes cupboards so we had one each. No fighting over the coat hangers! Dressing gowns & slippers were provided. Lovely bathroom with large walk in rain shower, double sinks and a separate toilet. Plenty of towels provided and we asked for an extra hand towel and they brought up a selection for us. We were able to check in straight away on our arrival at around 1.30pm and after unpacking we went to the pool in the gardens of the hotel. There were plenty of sun beds available with comfortable cushions. There is a pool bar and restaurant which served delicious food. The bar in the hotel is stunning. The ceiling is an artistic piece of work in itself. We ate breakfast outdoors in the hotel every day which was lovely. Everything was fresh and good quality. The coffee was excellent as was the service. The choice was a little bit limited for example the only eggs available were scrambled (delicious) or hard boiled. If you wanted any other choice this was an additional cost but I was happy with what was provided. We had dinner one night at the hotel and sat outside where they had live music. A very nice touch. The thermal spa is great and we had a fantastic massage each while we were there. We also went in the underground thermal cave which is an extra charge but discounted for hotel guests. Definitely worth trying. The hotel is built over a thermal lake and has a thermal pool by the spa area which we also tried. You have to wear a swimming hat in this and the hotel provides these although they are rather tight so we didn’t stay in for long. Everything about this hotel is pure class. The original building was a grand villa - stunning. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. They recommended restaurants for us nearby and also booked them for us. The hotel is in a private gated park and parking is free. You have to be buzzed in on arrival or returning to the hotel. We spent 3 nights here but I wish it had been more. We will definitely be back.

Great Hotel. The hotel is beautiful with excellent facilities including a beautiful outdoor pool with pool bar, restaurants, fitness room. The lobby is beautiful with several seating areas. The park is also wonderful with centenary trees, trail for exercising and tennis courts. The rooms are modern, good size and well appointed. The staff is attentive, and professional. The propriety has a Valet and self-parking that is free of charge. The hotel adjoins a large thermal bath resort that is open to the public. A section is reserved outside for guests only with a thermal pool and sauna. Also they have another small thermal pool and saunas in a quite place. On the other side of the propriety a non-heated that is exclusively for hotel guests as well. There is also the grotto. More further you go inside the temperature goes up (max. 36C), but is not too dip. It is worth a visit, the hotel guests get a 50% discount on entry. They have several body treatments and massage. We tried a few. Valeria is a good massage therapist, she is professional and friendly. It is a wonderful place for a relaxing.

Stayed here on Points redemption as a Marriott Ambassador… Arrival to the property was by car, and as such parking on site was free of charge; a nice perk honestly, since most luxury properties in Europe charge for parking/valet due to limited space/availability. The propery sits atop one of the largest thermal grottos in Europe. Since this was a Spa trip for Mom, I thought this was perfect for her. The entrance has a gate and red carpet, which adds to the luxurious feel. Being tucked away at the base of the mountain gave this property a very secluded feeling but was also an amazing architectural sight as it fit in with the aesthetic of the Tuscany region. Check in was a breeze, as they were awaiting my check in. I was briefed on the features and timings of the different places on property, and was thanked for my status. I chose the free breakfast, and was also given a $10 F&B credit. Arriving into the room, the room was as expected, beautifully appointed Tuscan-inspired contemporary furnishings throughout. Waiting for me in our room was a delightful welcome gift; a bottle of prosecco, chocolates, and a hand-written later. Definitely a nice touch for being an Ambassador!! The property has many spa related features and we tried to use as many as possible that were included in our stay, as well as a few paid massage services. The entrance to the thermal grotto is 25EUR per person, and it's defitinitely worth the experieince!! We also had dinner at the on site restaurant which provided a slightly modern take on Tuscan cuisine. The breakfast was also buffet style, which was great. The bar is very nice, and they didn't charge an arm and a leg for drinks. I used both the thermal pool (luke warm) and the normal pool (cooler); both very relaxing. Overall, this was an amazing getaway for me to treat mom to a spa day weekend experience. This property was added to the Bonvoy portfolio just last year!!
