Grotta Giusti is located in Monsummano Terme just a few kilometres from Florence, Pisa and Lucca.Set in a private park with secular trees, the early nineteenth century villa, now a prestigious Hotel, enriched by antique furnishings and paintings, has maintained intact its historical air and natural charm. The 58 double rooms and 6 Junior Suites, furnished in a refined, fresh style, offer unexpected details such as the bathrooms in luxurious white marble with thermal water on tap. The Hotel is directly connected to the Spa, which has a modern Wellbeing Centre with an Oriental area, equipped gymnasium, numerous relaxation areas and a medical aesthetic centre. The Spa also has an open air pool with 750 square metres of thermal water, picturesque cascade and underwater hydro-massages and the large millennial Grotta to end the day with a beneficial, relaxing "steam bath". Immersed in the park are the fresh water swimming pool, tennis court and fitness walk with further trekking courses for excursions in the surrounding countryside. And, just a few kilometres from Grotta Giusti, an 18 hole golf course.

We loved our stay in Grotta Giusti hotel and would definitely come back again! We stayed in this spa hotel 5 nights in March 2024. Initially we only stayed 2 nights, but then decided to come back for 3 more and loved it! Hotel is located in a picturesque place in Tuscany, with a lot of greenery around and has an “old mansion” ambiance. Rooms are nicely decorated (we had a suite) and cozy with very comfortable bed and pillows. Spa area with its thermal pool, sauna and spa itself is wonderful and very relaxing. There are many local elderly people visiting and it feels very authentic. If you want to truly relax, sleep better and longer, take some peaceful time away from hustle and bustle - this is definitely a great place. Food and drinks at the cafe by the pool are very decent, we loved their coffees, sandwiches and salads. We are truly grateful to the hotel’s operations manager Davide for his customer centric approach and professionalism - you could see he’s fully in charge and present everywhere (we saw him often throughout the day around the hotel), yet his presence is very discreet and he always made us feel welcomed. We also appreciated the work of the bartender in the lobby bar (didn’t catch his name, unfortunately). He has a very kind and welcoming way of carrying himself, serves great drinks and cocktails and sets the atmosphere for the whole bar and restaurant area. Thank you very much! In addition to spending time in the spa and Grotto, you can take a hike in the area, walk in the Monsummano Terme village or drive to Montecatini Terme and walk around there as the town seems slightly bigger and more lively. We were a family of three with our 7 months old sun and hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming. We were offered a high chair during breakfast for the baby and he always received a lot of attention:) Thank you very much for our great time in Grotta Giusti Resort!

Grotto Giusti is beautiful and comfortable. We've had such a good time here. The grounds are meticulous. And we love the bartender, Federico, who is a true mixologist and a delightful person. The restaurant was also wonderful. We would definitely come back here again and again.

The photos do not do justice to this beautiful property. Perfect for a few days of pure relaxation . The staff, rooms , food, pool and thermal cave all lived up to expectations. Treat yourself to a visit! We also used as a base camp to visit the Leonardo Da Vinci museum and San Gimiagno.

This was a last minute trip to Tuscany arranged to get me out of Florence for five days. The reviews were a bit mixed so I was slightly hesitant, but I really enjoyed the stay. The staff was great. The rooms were charming. The views were Tuscany inspired and the facilities were very calming. Yes, as I had read, the spa areas can be confusing. I conquered that critique by taking a self guided tour on the afternoon I arrived. I found the spa host to give me a quick overview at her desk and from there I explored with a map. No issues getting around after I invested a little time getting to know the landscape. The fitness center was mine alone most days and it was very clean with excellent machines. The walking path/fitness route around the property's edge was enjoyable. It starts over by the tennis court and you can follow up the hill, over the stream, by the stream, and up about a third of the way up on the hillside behind the property. You can return on the other side of the property through an olive grove that offered up some of my best pictures of nature in Italy. One afternoon, three deer crossed my path just meters in front of me. Before you head down through the olive grove, you have a choice point to continue on the fitness trail or travel a public trail system that is well marked to other end points. Really nice options. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and I always found the staff there to be responsive.

We stayed here during the Tuscany part of my Italian birthday celebration, after staying in the Italian riviera. This hotel, a former villa, exudes elegance and rustic charm in an idyllic mountain setting in Tuscany. The hotel staff not only graciously acknowledged my birthday with a chocolate dessert platter and champagne in our room but also had separate treats for my husband. A very classy touch and start to our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the soothing thermal pools, both the smaller one and the larger one. The breakfast buffet was also plentiful and satisfying after soaking in the pools. The spa is attached to the hotel so it was convenient for us to walk from our room to the pools without going outdoors to access the spa. We liked the robes, shower caps and slippers they provided. Parking was also a breeze and very conveniently located in close proximity to the hotel. We were able to drive to various towns of Tuscany using this hotel as our home base. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return here again.

We had booked 2 nights to stay here at the Spa using our free night rewards stay from Marriott. Before leaving for Italy, I was reading recent reviews on this hotel and getting nervous that maybe we should only stay one night and save our rewards night for another place. I am so glad I kept both nights here. upon check in we re provided with complimentary glasses of wine and we were upgraded to a beautiful room as we are gold Bonvoy members. The room was gorgeous and our favorite for the whole week we spent in Italy. There was a nice King size bed, beautiful marble bathroom with really nice shampoo/conditioner/lotions. I do agree with other reviewers that the spa was a little hard to navigate but the property is huge so I dont think there is anything that they can do about it. The outdoor thermal pools are not as hot as we would have preferred but it was still fine and very relaxing with all the strong jets. As for the dining, we only had breakfast one morning and the staff was plentiful, friendly and the buffet was full of many items to choose from. I had talked to the front desk about the dining and i was told they hired all new staff and things were much better, which I witnessed. We had chosen restaurants to eat at in nearby towns ahead of time for our dinners. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Tuscany!

Thermal spa is way overrated. Water is too cold and we were chilled within 5 minutes and got out. Steam room was broken. The internal lounge area near the sauna had only 5 recliners! Otherwise you can go outside where it was quite cold, You have to ask for towels from the lifeguards and good luck when they’re not around! They should have towels out for guests instead of chasing down a lifeguard that’s not always available. Spa was hard to navigate around and easy to get lost. I’d avoid this property if the Spa is the reason you’re coming. Compared to other spas we’ve been to, this one really disappoints with the experience. Surprised that Marriott acquired this property.

Response from Thomas Parenti, Proprietario at Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort Tuscany
Responded Nov 24, 2023
Dear Mr king, first of all I want to thank you for the time you spent writing down your comments. I am really sorry about you feeling so disappointed about the spa, which is something we are very proud of, especially the Grotta, which unfortunately you did not have the chance to experience. Our thermal water is completely natural and it reaches a temperature of 34°C: the perception of heat is different from person to person. To have the lifegusrds providing for towels is a way of taking care of the the guests and to give more assistance. The little lounge you refer to is the Thermarium circuit but for hotel guests there are other lounges and relaxation areas where they can have a relaxing moment. I wish you could have the chance to come visit again to enjoy every facility that our unique thermal spa offers. Best regards

We stayed at the hotel for our honeymoon as we had been recommended the place from My parents who come annually. They knew it was our honeymoon as they mentioned it on arrival but there was nothing special about the stay. Our room was basic, no bath and very small. We didn’t get a special welcome or anything additional (which wasn’t expected but would have been nice). We then had to leave 4 days early due to our little girl being poorly at home. We informed the reception the day before we left that we would be leaving early and they did not seem to care. The morning we left we went to reception to check out and the gentleman not only didn’t tell us how much we needed to pay which was charged to our room, but he didn’t ask why we were leaving early. We are now unsure what will be charged to our credit card as he didn’t want to give us a print out receipt and we have left the trip feeling very disappointed. The hotel itself is beautiful but the service was not good and it seemed for the price we paid there are a lot of additional payments we had to make to do standard things such as play tennis which at this time of year I would have thought would have been included in the price.

We had a nice room (suite) very clean, lots of storage, well decorated, very good linens and toiletries. The shared spaces such as hallways and elevators were looking quite tired, in need of new carpet, paint etc. The check in took 20 minutes and the restaurant was very understaffed so the food wasn't always replenished and staff seemed run off their feet. They were friendly enough but we felt bad for them. We did the hydro experience (free) which involved a bath, steam, 2 saunas a cool shower which was interesting. The other services such as massages or the grotto experience were very expensive so we passed. The lobby area had 2 nicely decorated sitting. areas and the large restaurant bar area was good. It was busy when we visited and about 80% of guests were North American. There's lots of parking , close to mountain towns , Lucca and train station to Florence. A few local restaurants the hotel recommended were very good. Sel&Pepe was authentic and great food. Best to have a car as the hotel is a bit remote. Overall we'd recommend the stop for 1-2 nights to relax.

We went for a day got there before 10 and reception explained how it worked to use the thermal spa and view cave but they made us sit and wait until 10 am to make the reservation which I believe they could have done the reservation as they were just seated there. All in all it was a good day but I only have 2 issues to touch on. After the grotto we are supposed to have done a sirt of detox with the minerals so why wouldn't the spa provide water? I have never been to a spa where water is not provided! Even if you have to charge please provide water! The other issue is directions were not provided clearly how to enter and exit especially inside the grotto the signs were not clear where you were going and seems like we missed some areas.
