The hotel facilities were exceptional for children and families from the pool and beach areas, to the multiple water slides, play areas and fair rides.
Despite the hotel being busy there was always plenty of seats and shade at the pool and beach areas, with all areas kept spotlessly clean
The hotel had a number of A La Carte restaurants which you paid a supplemental €20 or €30 for. We tried the Turkish and Tapinyaki ones and had a fabulous night at both. The staff in the Turkish restaurant were attentive and really good with our tired children, they also provided surprise birthday cakes and a song as two of our party had birthdays while we were at the hotel. The Tapinyaki chef was amazing, a really skilled chef as well as an entertainer who kept us engaged with both the quality of his food and his banter for a whole evening. I would highly recommend both experiences.
The only downside to the hotel was its proximity to its neighbours on Lara Beach, as no matter where you were in the hotel you could hear the animation teams and music from the hotels in either side

The hotel room was lush and very spacious, the only downside to our room was that the balcony was tiny and we had a shower over bath, would have much preferred a walk in shower but the shower worked perfectly well.
The pool area is massive and immaculate, the areas were constantly getting cleaned and we were always been asked for drinks. There were plenty of food and drink bars around the pool areas so you wont go hungary or thirsty.
The buffet food restaurant was the best all inclusive I have been too, the variety of food was great, the staff were great.
The hotel is classed as a 5 Star but I feel that there could be some room for improvement. My dad has mobility issues and the hotel is quite large, it should have been stated that the hotel wasn't suitable for people with mobility issues. We hired a wheelchair for him which we had to pay 10 euros per day, I think after the amount of money that we paid to stay there then the wheelchair should have been provided free of charge and the only other complaint was the WIFI, it is absolutely terrible so that needs majorly improved.
All in all we have a great time.

The buffet restaurant is where we ate breakfast and lunch, you won't find your standard English breakfast here. But you will find fresh pancakes , cheeses and meats, breads and lots of random other bits and bobs.
Dinner I stuck to what I know which was chips, onion rings and chicken/lamb. At first there looks a lot of choice but much of the counters are repeated I guess due to the size of the hotel. We didn't try any of the specialists restaurants but these are 20 euros extra each. Myself and my wife did enquire about a romantic dinner on the pier but that was 450 euros which we weren't going to pay. The baklava here is amazing and is must try especially the one that looks like shredded wheat.
People get up very early to put towels around the pool and even my father in law getting up at 6am still wasn't early enough to get the seats wanted.
Lunches were a bit disappointing we often found our self at the pizza counter but you will find yourself queuing for some time. The pool bar you can also order off the menu stuff like hamburgers, chicken wraps, chips (stay away from the Kentucky fried chicken) .
The waterslides are pretty fun but get busier throughout the day so get on them in the morning.
My biggest piece of advice is flip flops you don't mind wearing everywhere as the ground is so hot it even burns through hard bottomed watershoes.
All in all it was alright, the entertainment is a bit rubbish and the next door hotel sounds like it's far more fun. The entertainment starts pretty late so if you have kids you probably won't get to see it as it starts at 9:30 for the shows and 22:30 in the pool bar.
In 2012 on arrival we were greeted with arrival drinks when checking in, and this is not the case now.
The rooms were immaculate and there were slippers and a dressing gown for the guests, now there are only slippers, and the rooms although clean & tidy are looking dated & tired. Our bath plug failed to open and close via the automatic knob so when showering the bath would fill up with water. the only solution was to remove the plug completely. The sink took 15 mins to drain when running water for a small amount of time. in 2012 you were able to use 1 x A La Carte Restaurant per week of your stay, now it is €20 per person per visit.
The entertainment staff are only interested in selling you bingo tickets on a Wednesday for €24 a strip. During my two weeks stay i was only approached by the Entertainment staff on a Wednesday to purchase tickets. On my previous stay the entertainment staff were often around the complex chatting to guests informing them of what activities were on offer and generally checking everything was ok, again this personal touch is no longer there. The nine O'clock rule for reserving sun loungers by putting towels on is still in operation but is not being enforced. You can arrival at the pool at 08:15 and the majority of loungers are reserved but not a single person in sight.
The laminate floor in the lobby bar has become swollen and has a large lump in it, which is dangerous when walking over it. The buffet in the morning is very good with lots of choice, however in the evening it becomes a bit of a lottery if you are to receive hot or cold food. The evening food is very repetitive and if staying for more than 7 days it becomes a challenge.
The food outlets outside are very good, but your timing has to also be good as the only open at certain times. The majority of the bar staff are good, friendly and helpful and if you are lucky you will served by Hassan in the restaurant, Alisan in the pool area and Semra in the lobby bar as these employees offer great friendly service at all times.
Although the hotel did not appear to be at full capacity there was no availability for a late check out on this occasion, and the only option of a shower before departure was in the Wellness centre that shuts at 7pm.
In 2012 this hotel was definitely 5 star, but lack of maintenance, peeling paint on ceilings, even simple things like the "Y" missing from the "Royal Holiday Palace" sign do not make this hotel 5 star.
In fact the only thing about this hotel being 5 star is the price.

The pool is the best swimming pool I have been in . It is huge , lots of shaded areas to escape from sun so ideal for children. The entertainment team are fun and make a lot of effort .
Also not to forget the hard work of all the staff behind the bars and waiters and also the people who clean around the pool all day . You don't see many empty glasses for long around the beds etc and are always smiling and helpful
. Nice variety of food in the restaurants . Pool bar offers crispy chicken and chips burgers which is godsend for fussy children like mine.
Coffee is lovely, wine is lovely which is good for all inclusive as often wine is horrid. Varied choice of cocktails and drinks . Lots of bars and seating so it never feels like the hotel is over crowded.
Room is great and spacious and kept clean every day
Just one think I would say is that no iron is available so bring one if u like to iron clothes on holiday
I would say if ur tempted by this hotel then book it , I never go to the same hotel twice but I will visit again for sure.
Well done Royal holiday palace . Fantastic hotel . 👏

Would consider going back, as long as it's not a heatwave again!
