We absolutely loved the place. We stayed here for 3 nights. The owners are very accommodating, and will do anything to make sure your stay is perfect! I would highly recommend this place for your stay near the Sault.
Bellevue Lodge When I think of Bellevue Valley Lodge Bed and Breakfast, the quality of hospitality deserves more than a brief description. From first contact to final departure, Robin and Enn, who own, care for and offer their Lodge, provide such warm and welcoming energy. I feel so fortunate to have discovered them several years ago with an on-line search. Since then, I have been there several times by myself and with friends. Each time, I have felt so well – received. The Lodge is comfortable, warm, clean and has all the amenities. It is in a beautiful area northwest of Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. One leaves the busy strip of the city and travels into the terrain of northern Ontario – so different if coming from Michigan. The lodge is about 30 minutes away at the base of a mountain. There are many opportunities for snowshoeing, cross country, downhill and Telemark skiing. Robin and Enn will not cast an inexperienced person onto the trails. They are helpful and instructive. And, they are sure to fire up the wood-fired sauna as the sun is going down. That is only part of it! Robin and Enn as individuals and as co-owners of the Lodge give so much of themselves. They both have a great deal of experience as hosts over many years and from their own travels. They also have extensive knowledge about the region and all that one can experience there. They are great conversationalists and can speak about a wide range of topics. They are dedicated to conservation and to preserving the ecology of the land and waterways. They also have concerts at their home and are part of the local (and beyond) musical community. I think of them as story tellers - raconteurs in the best way. While they provide structure with breakfast offered each day, they do not have imposing or tense expectations. They are flexible, warm and welcoming to people from all walks of life and of all ages. A guest (and even that seems too formal a word) is able to engage or not at whatever level is comfortable. The breakfasts they prepare are delicious, generous and varied. I can’t believe I was fortunate enough to find them. And then, when I’ve talked to others in my community, often the response has been, “Oh yes, Robin and Enn. We love their place. And, more!” For me, being with Robin and Enn at Bellevue Valley Lodge has had features of a personal retreat for solitude and has been a setting for wonderful fun and adventure with friends and family. Five stars at a minimum!…
11 of us from Southern Ontario came for a week of backcountry, cross country and down hill skiing with time also for snow shoeing and touring the sights. This was a fantastic spot close to all of these pursuits and a lodge that accommodated all of our diverse needs. By far the best thing about this place is the hosts that go out of their way to make you feel welcomed, provide helpful hints and took us on a backcountry ski tour of the hills behind their place. Other things we enjoyed was the wood fired sauna, lots of hot water for showers, a living area with big windows looking out over the forest, and comfortable beds (two dogs are friendly as well). All in all a fantastic place which we intend to come back to next year! Comments from the team: "Be back in a heartbeat" "Friendly and thoughtful hosts" "Lots to do close by" "Enjoyed skiing with our hosts"…
My husband, sons (14 and 11) and I spent an unforgettable weekend skiing @ Seachmont and relaxing in Bellevue Valley's beautiul chalet. Although WIFI was available, we opted to unplug & reconnect - a much-needed escape complete with board games & real coversation! Enn & Robin are gracious hosts providing great activity tips (Bush Plane Museum in SSM), cozy, clean accommodations to snuggle in to, an authentic sauna experience, and we were even fortune enough to share some runs with Enn, tele-ski superstar! Well worth the quick trip north from Michigan's Lower Penisula for better (steeper & longer) terrain yet a hometown slope feel. Hoping to make it an annual visit and would love to explore their backcountry... Highly Recommend!!
We arrived on Christmas Eve and stayed for five nights instead of our original plan for four nights. The chalet was very comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious, varied, and healthy. We had great fun talking with Robin and Enn every day, who are very kind and helpful. They even invited us for a delicious meal on Christmas day, and Enn took us on a snowshoe tour through their forest with fantastic scenery. We enjoyed the sauna so much. It is the authentic sauna we've been looking for in Canada. Their dogs, Heikki and Suvi, were very cute and friendly, too! Thanks, Robin and Enn!
