There is a wood at the foot of the hill on which the castle and its village are located. A wood with a large variety of trees and rich in wildlife. Nestled in between those trees are our 15 wooden chalets. Each chalet has more than 50m² (540 sq.ft.) living space as well as a spacious veranda of 15m² (160 sq.ft.). They are fully and comfortably equipped. Holidays to the rhythm of nature, peace and relaxation. No disco music in the evening, or noisy activities during the day. There's a swimming pool where you can cool down and laze around. We, your hosts, can point you to all the marvellous things to do and to see in our beautiful region - a region we know as well as the backs of our hands.

The perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday. The site is clean and well run and the owners are very helpful. The accommodation was spacious, clean and well equipped. There are so many places to visit in this truly stunning area and Castlewood is the perfect place to stay.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Castelwood. This is a very special place to stay for a holiday. It lived up to our expectations, all that is promised on the website and in the reviews. A small site located in the woods, with peaceful surroundings and lovely facilities for a young family. Customer service and hospitality by the hosts is outstanding, their welcome and availability for help is very reassuring, especially if you are new to France and to the area. The cabin is simple but very well thought through. The beds are very comfortable! Although if you like a proper double bed you won't get it here - it's two beds joined together, two mattresses and two sets of bed linen! The mezzanine level is open of course to the kitchen and lounge area, so if your kids need no distractions going to sleep they'll be better in the downstairs bedroom. Although we found it surprisingly dark up there and our kids got to sleep no problem while we had a quiet drink or read a book once we'd put them to bed, even when we had the lounge lighting on in the evening. The cabins are mostly placed within the shade of trees which keeps them as cool as possible in the summer, so even after really hot days, we were comfortable sleeping. The only downside of this is that they are quite dark inside with the need for lights on even during daytime. The veranda is covered to provide shade (and a good drying area for wet washing). There isn't however anywhere on the veranda or next to the cabins which allows for lying in the sun, you really have to go to the pool for that. They are well placed on the site for privacy and no feelings of being overlooked. The shower has a plentyful supply of hot water at all times. Sensibly the shower room and toilet are in separate rooms, being only one of each. The cooker is a free standing gas cooker and oven (no grill), there is also a microwave. Found everything we needed to cook basic meals. Large fridge, with ice box compartment. Nearest supermarket is an Intermarche in Villerreal about 15 mins away, good size, well stocked. Dishwasher with a couple of tablets supplied to get you started. The shared washing facilities are very convenient, modern washing machines and tumble dryer with powder supplied (due to environmental considerations). Thankfully no coins needed for operation, must note down usage on a form and pay at the end.

Room Tip: All cabins would be similar in setting, although I understand there is one luxury, higher spec....

This was the perfect place to get away from it all but also be close to beautiful castles and villages. The chalet itself was very well equipped with all the plates and cutlery etc you could need and it was clean and comfortable. It was a little too dark inside for our liking but was otherwise very pleasant. The kids loved the playground and the games room and I’m sure they would have enjoyed the little pool had we had better weather.

Hidden in the woods in a lovely part of the countryside next to Château de Biron. The cabins are clean and comfortable with everything you need for self catering and lots of other facilities on site. The hosts are very helpful and well organised. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would return.

We stayed for two nights in late October. As we were travelling by bicycle it was great to stay in their lovely chalets and get out of the rain. Well stocked, warm, new cabins with plenty of hot water and delicious bread and croissants delivered to our door!! What a great stay.
