The Camelot Beach Hotel garners appreciation for its welcoming staff, pristine beachfront location, and vibrant atmosphere complete with musical performances and special festive touches. While some guests suggest the rooms could benefit from updates, the cleanliness and ocean views often receive commendations. The hotel's proximity to local attractions is a major draw, as is the attentive service that makes stays memorable. Opinions on value are mixed, with praise for the food and overall experience, but some concerns over room quality and costs.

Camelot beach hotel is a beach front hotel which is sits along the negombo beach area. There are many hotels big and small dotted along this stretch, hence there are plenty of restaunts and shops within all walking distance away.

About the hotel. It's has a relatively newer wings which is where we stayed (Coastal wing) and the main wing with the older units. The coastal units are pretty well equipped with modern facilities like usb port chargers, lcd tv, etc. There is no lifts to the new wing as it's only 3 floors and if you have huge luggages then you will have to take the only lift from the main block and walk to the coastal unit. Housekeeping was prompt and service is always good. Anthon who was there in housekeeping when we stayed made was very accomodating.

Reception and front office staff are very helpful and cheerful all the time. Check in was fast and easy. Sanjeewani from the front office team is always cheerful and ever ready to assist us during our stay.

We took the half board package hence dinner and breakfast was at the hotel. F&B options had both local and western selection except for lunch where the lunch menu is pretty limited to western food, hope they can add in some local options too in the future. F&B staffs were awesome, the chefs do also come out to talk with the guest introducing the local dishes which is great. Would like to thank F&B team esp Ramiya and Dilrukshi who was always attending to us. TIPS - don't leave your table unattended with food as crows are ever present looking for a quick meal opportunity.

There 2 main pool and 1 kids pool at the hotel which is cleaned daily and properly maintained.

There are plenty of crows flying around the whole stretch of negombo beach area and they hotel do have dedictated staff to help chase them if they get too close to guest or thier food...Maybe they should look at other alternative methods in the future.

Transportation from the hotel is pretty easy as there are auto drivers waiting outside, but we prefer to use Uber instead. Point to note - sonetime uber drivers dont turn up or will call you to find out your destination before deciding to pick you up. You may end up trying a couple of times but it's the safer fixed fare transport option.

Overall we stayed for 7 days and loved every moment of it. It's very low dense hence it really feels homely plus the hospitality by the staff makes it even better. Will certainly be back again.

This was our first night in Sri Lanka and Negombo is extremely convenient being only a short drive from the airport. We were welcomed warmly by the reception staff, including Dishan, Shamalka, Sanjeewani and Roshani all of who spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Particular mention goes to Dishan who was an absolute star in sorting out my phone into which I had just put a local sim that had failed to work. Without his cheerful and efficient help we would have had numerous problems over the next two weeks.

Our deluxe balcony room had a lovely view over the gardens, beach and sea. It was clean airy and comfortable. The food both at dinner and breakfast was excellent, authentic and a great introduction to Sri Lankan cuisine. The ambience in the restaurant was particularly relaxing and pleasant. The pools and bar area outdoors are set in well-tended gardens with access directly on to the sandy beach.

This was our venue for the first 2 nights in Sri Lanka. Location is great as far as Negombo goes, there are loads of restaurants and shops nearby, even a fake Tesco and Sainsbury's just outside! A short tuk tuk ride to town and the fish market and historic fort and other attractions. Having said that, Negombo isn't somewhere I'd like to spend vey long in. The beach is OK but the whole place seems more industrial than resort.
Our first room was quite poor. The bed wasn't good and the A/C leaked really badly. We asked for the A/C to be fixed. They tried once but it still leaked so we were swiftly moved to another room. This room was lovely, with a much nicer bed and fully working A/C. Subsequently we had a good time. Breakfasts were very good with a huge selection especially delicious local choices.
The pools were good and we never worried about finding a sun lounger. The big pool bar was a good focal point and having the beach right there with some great beach bars just south made our jet-lag recovery days just lovely.

Disappointing and unfortunately the hotel don't seem too fussed about creating a good impression of their establishment! Strange really!

Check in was slow and for some reason we were allocated a room on the 3rd floor when we have a 3 year old child with us?? The 2nd room was allocated in a different building for my mother in law. Luckily hers had a lift. The only access to our room was up 3 flights of stairs. The room is standard. AC worked well and was clean enough. The corridors and stairwells to the rooms were not clean....sand on floor, dust, hairs etc and unbearably humid. We stayed for 2 nights and each day at different times of day saw lots of dirty room service plates/ random rubbish out in the corridors. All attracting insects and flies. Really awful and considering it would take a staff member 15 minutes to round all this up I have no idea why this would be the norm for this place.

Service out at bar area is so slow. It was a busy weekend initially but at one point it was just us and 1 other table and still no-one came to attend for long periods of time. No-one asks if you want refills when collecting empty glasses or brings menus over when you sit. You have to ask for EVERYTHING. We were not asked once if the food was okay. The food is generally good so could recommend for a dinner watching sunset but only if you like very inattentive service. The breakfast buffet had a lot of choice but again the room where it was served was very hot and flies everywhere. All dishes and plates were open so flies were on everything. Totally put me off. Not sure why coverings cannot be purchased for items like cakes, pastries and fruit which will obviously attract a lot of flies.

Sunset is stunning and a highlight of this beach resort, the beach is very close however it is the public beach so no loungers etc only the ones set out in the hotel grounds which has trees and therefore SO many birds. They are always pecking at left over food and a real annoyance. Bird poo everywhere.

The most annoying part of our stay was the ridiculously loud live music act on Friday evening. We were seeing my mother in law for the first time in 3 years and were trying to catch up but could honestly not hear each other talking at the same table. This was in the middle of dinner service?! I asked the waiter once as did my husband and eventually my husband had to approach the band and still it was too loud. It absolutely ruined any kind of peaceful chilled vibe you would expect from a Sri Lanka beach resort.

The reception staff were helpful and arranged a basic breakfast box for our early departure on our last morning as we had an early start. We were booked in for an additional 3 nights after our 2 day trip to Kandy but have now cancelled and opted for a different nearby hotel.

For the price we paid (roghly USD 140 per night) we expected a better service. The wi-fi had problems, password had to be asked repeatedly, because it worked just for one day. The bathroom was flooding after the shower. The lunch by the pool had to be checked upon 3 times until it arrived. Error from the reception regarding our room number making me and the SPA receptionist to go to the big reception for clarifications and srealing about 15min of my massage time. No beach area and sunbeds next to the sea even though the sea is so nearby, which is great.
The pool area was nice, the bedroom was very comfortable and stylish, the SPA massages were amazing, the breakfast had a wide selection for any taste.
Overall a very good place for relaxation before heading to the airport, which is 30min drive.

Note: We went to Sri Lanka May 2022 at the heat of protest and fuel shortage – and despite US Consulate recommendation to avoid Sri Lanka, we did our own investigations and decided to go and felt safer in SL during protests then we did in the US, so you should not hesitate to go. We even viewed a couple protests which were orderly and very civil. Go to SL now as it is not crowded and they really rely on tourism so service will be even better.

Hotel was very comfortable and great beach location. We had room overlooking pool/beach. Rooms are clean and modern but maintenance of minor details could be improved. Staff was great esp Sanjeewani at front desk. All staff wore face masks at all times. The restaurant had the best seafood and desserts and a variety of entrée’s each night. Chef Dahanayake always prepared delicious meals and menus that offer the comfort of home cooking but the tastes of fine dining. Presentation was as good as taste and freshness. Our main server Priyantha provided outstanding service at all our meals along with Mohamod. The restaurant had tables overlooking pool and beach which made each meal special. Pool was nice but beach was full of “land sharks” peddling wooden elephants, bracelets etc. As annoying as they can be, hear them out and support them and buy a $3 bracelet. I watched them stand on the sand all day and only sell a couple of items due to lack of tourists. A few dollars goes a long way for these guys. This is better than begging for money like in US.

Rooms are well situated over looking the pools and the beach (in the new part) and very clean and modern.the gardens and the pools are maintained to a high standard by a very friendly and helpful team including Upali who is always at hand with clean beach towels, sun loungers and cushions. All the beach bar staff make sure you never go thirsty.Chiminda in particular is always at your service with a smile,as are the dining room staff Pardeep, jesus and all the girls. And a big thank you to all the other staff, too many names to mention for making every visit very special,so much so that we will be returnig shortlly for the fourth time in the last fifteen months

Visited purely on spec to have some lunch, a cook drink and relax for awhile before drive back to Colombo.
On entering we were subjected and pleased to comply with the strict Covid-19 checks. Walking through to the rear of the hotel we were pleasantly surprised with the neat and tidy appearance, well maintained and a great outlook towards the ocean. Our drinks and lunch were served by pleasant and courteous staff. The food orederd was minimal but very well prepared and inexpensive.
Highly recommend a visit especially for families with excellent facilities for kids and adults.
Very sad to see the lack of patronage due to current restrictions.

Shame about the unnecessarily loud music played at the pool bar in the evening, which could be heard throughout the whole hotel. Honestly could barely hear our own tv in our room and even after complaining, it wasn’t turned down. I might sound like a buzz kill but after an active week all we wanted to do was chill and this was NOT the place for it! To top it off, there were only about 3 guests actually at the pool bar which didn’t warrant the loud music at all. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking to chill or have babies!

The room was full of mosquitos. Literally 100s. We spent an hour trying to kill them all but there were too many and the beds did not have mosquito nets.

Booking.com also noted the room as $40 but were charged $80 at checkout without notice.

Generally nice hotel with wonderful staff. Rooms and bathroom outdated. The most expensive hotel out of the 6 we stayed at in Sri Lanka but by far the worst because of the mosquitos.

We stayed here twice for 2 nights and it was great. Reception staff were really helpful and lovely. We ate twice from the pool bar area in the evenings and we really enjoyed it. Surrounds were lovely, bar staff were great and friendly with large choices. Although we didn't have a dinner in the main dining room we had breakfast in the dining room 4 mornings. Food was really good and chefs were really helpful, table staff very polite and helpful and a huge variety of food. From what we were able to see I would highly recommend!!
