I stayed here on business, very reasonably priced with a good standard of accommodation, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant offers both a la carte and a bar menu, the standard of the food is excellent and the restaurant was packed. I cant comment on the breakfast as unusually breakfast is from 7.30 until 9.00 unlike other... More

We used this hotel as a base for visiting a music festival nearby. It is a lovely old building with all the old quirks you'd expect. We had a low mishaped door to get in and on the bathroom door, had to duck to get through, we like this others may not. Breakfast was nice and the staff were so... More

We booked a superior twin with extra child's bed for 2 nights. The room was quite small and would have been ok with twin beds but the extra bed did make it very cramped with very little room to manoeuvre.. the bathroom was fine - it catered for disabled visitors so a wet room really. The room was pretty clean... More

Met a couple of friend here for lunch. Disappointed that the weather was not good enough for us to sit in the garden as it looked lovely. Sat in the small bar area to have a drink first and then moved into the restaurant to eat. Lovely selection of food to choose from, and some delicious looking specials on the... More

Thursday evenings is steak night. Although the offer is two steaks for £15 you will often spend much more but the quality is good and overall it is of reasonable cost. Every other Thursday evening there is a quiz, this is cheap to take part, other customers are friendly and there is an element of luck involved so not too... More

We stopped here for some food on our charity walk from London to Canterbury and the food was great. It was also quite nice as this Inn is mentioned in The Canterbury Tales and we were doing the same journey for charity.

Five nights at this quaint olde world inn was, on the whole most enjoyable with friendly service and good food, Kentish breakfast was particularly tasty and the dinner menu was varied with some excellent dishes. Our room (1) was adequate, and easily accessible, the bed was very comfortable but the decor was a bit tired and a chest of drawers... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Horse in Boughton-under-Blean is a historic inn and restaurant with more than its fair share to offer guests. Not only is this ancient coaching inn mentioned in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, but its location in a glorious village surrounded by hop field lined walks to Mount Ephraim Gardens and the site of The Peasant’s Last Revolt recommend this excellent stop before one even ventures inside. As you may well hope, The White Horse is beautifully traditional inside, with roaring log fires, low-beamed ceilings and a cosy, intimate feel. Meanwhile, outside beautiful landscaping has turned a pleasant pub garden in to an Englishman’s dream. Our locally sourced British food has elevated The White Horse to gastropub levels with our chefs combination of creativity and talent, providing guests with the opportunity to enjoy high level food in the most comfortable of atmospheres. Sunday lunches take place weekly and jazz suppers are a regular occasion featuring award-winning vocalist Christine Tobin. Located in a village but within easy reach of the channel crossings and many local attractions such as Canterbury Cathedral, Dover and Leeds Castle, golf courses, beaches, nature reserves and zoo's, the White Horse is an ideal place to stay to explore the wonderful Kent countryside. And if walking, there are many stunning walking routes on our doorstep. We welcome walkers, cyclists, dogs and families! Our 13 bedrooms are beautiful with everything you would expect from a modern hotel, including free wi-fi, extensive parking, disabled access, restaurant and bar. The combination of the pub’s history and first-class service guarantees return visits. ... more   less
