Detailed Reviews
I stayed one night and booked the hotel last minute. Wasn’t sure what to expect given some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. My room was a standard king but actually was a suite with separate living area and kitchenette. The staff were attentive and helpful and made me feel very welcome. They were flexible with my check out time and the security staff were always offering to help with my bags. Highly recommend.

My room was renovated, clean and very nice with a great view. Picture below.
I did not like that there are no elevators. Someone needed to come and carry my luggage up and down.
What was the worst part for me, there is nothing nearby! If you don’t have a car it is very hard and expensive to get anywhere. I was starving and the only restaurant was theirs. It was pouring out and I had to walk outside to the restaurant. I wanted my meal to go, so I carried it back in the rain without a good cover for it. When I did get back to the room the food was awful and trashed it. There needs to be more eating options!
I couldn’t stay for more than 1 night.

We have just returned from a week at the Silver Point Villa Hotel. The hotel is located on the South tip of Barbados, secluded and quiet, with a constant ocean breeze. The suites are super clean, modern chic, and all have ocean views.
The service is great, super friendly people (from manager to security) and the atmosphere is relaxed and elegant.

due to family concerns I had to stay in a hotel for a few nights. Silver Point is right next to where I was staying so I checked in. I got an ocean front room which was nice but no wifi which doesn't fly in this day and age. the location is in the less attractive part of Barbados which caters to windsurfers and kiters. the housing is very inexpensive yet the hotel is close to $400/night which is not competitive with its location. As a result if has very little clientele so the bulk of the rooms have "gone to seed" and are closed off. this gives the place a depressing atmosphere and it will soon close like the Silver Sands hotel nearby.

This property is abandoned. It appears to have been abandoned for some time now. Neighbours said that COVID didn’t help but that management also disintegrated. Judging from the reviews, it was a lovely spot at one time and it is right on the beach, but I was ther in March and it is currently in ruins.

First let me start by saying that this is the first travel review I’ve ever written. Let me tell you the reason why:
We stayed at the Silver Point Hotel in May. It’s a pleasant boutique hotel located on the coast and close to the airport. Some of the seafront rooms are excellent, but pricey. The room we stayed in was average. The restaurants and cabanas surrounding the pool area were excellent. Overall, the staff were great, apart from the reception staff who were arrogant and disinterested.
The bad news is that the hotel is situated in the middle of the ghetto! We decided to walk along the beach once we arrived. Bad idea! As soon as you step foot on the deck, these guys come over and shake your hand, introduce themselves and try to sell you coconuts, so you assume they’re part of the hotel staff. But they’re actually local drug addicts who sell coconuts to support their addiction.
We walked along the beach and on our way back, we realized that one of these guys had followed us. He told us we promised to buy a coconut, which we hadn’t. He started waving a knife in our face and told us he wanted paying. He was obviously high and out of his mind on drugs – and I’m not talking soft drugs. In the end, we just paid him and returned to the hotel. We complained to the hotel staff, but they were disinterested. I don’t think this is the first time this has happened. All the hotel staff are local and know who these guys are, so they turn a blind eye. Plus there’s nothing they can do outside the resort once you step foot of the deck – it’s a public beach. And the police won’t do anything either.
I was suspicious by the number of security guards at the hotel, so we should have known better.
Later that night, I over heard another couple who had similar troubles with these coconut guys. The lady was clearly shaken up and the reception staff were pointing out where all the security guards were located and that “she was safe.” The next morning, I saw them climbing into a taxi with their luggage.
If you could pick up and move this hotel to the west coast, and leave the drug addicts and reception staff behind, it would be great. If you’re in Barbados for a short stay and need to stay in this area, I would recommend the Hilton. Otherwise head elsewhere on the island.
Oh, and only pay one dollar for a coconut.

Response from Sasha99, Manager at Silver Point Hotel

While we appreciate platforms such as this where travelers can candidly exchange their vacation experiences... as a hotelier we find ourselves very vulnerable when it comes to situations such as this one. To start with it is unjust to associate the property with an incident that allegedly occurred on a public beach and not at the hotel. The traveler freely admits that the hotel itself had more than lived up to their expectations. Their main challenge was with the location referring to it as ‘ghetto’ and that they experienced ‘robbery’ on the public beach of Barbados. Anyone with access to Google would very quickly come to realization that there is no such as thing as ‘beach front ghetto’ in Barbados! We are located adjacent to a fishing village and chattel houses are very typical housing option in the Caribbean- most of our affluent travelers appreciate the uniqueness of our location and do not feel threatened ...Barbados is generally a very safe place, a destination where travelers can freely interact with locals if they choose to do so. Further, this traveler points to the number of security guards as a negative – our security guards are located at each access point not only for security purposes but to ensure the privacy and exclusivity of our guests as well as to assist with opening the gates for arriving guests/ clients. And lastly, it seems there was clearly a misunderstanding with this traveler and coconut vendor. It appears that while the guest was walking along the public beach (not deserted) a coconut vendor requested the payment for past /future purchase of a coconut. Coconut vendors use a knife to open the coconut and we do not dispute the fact that most likely he indeed had a knife close by ‘at hand’ at the time. However we find the story of a day time public beach robbery at the knife point where robber only demanded and got away with the price of a coconut... a bit far –fetched! We urge you when reading this review to take few min to think about it!

I booked two weeks at the property in August 2007. We received a confirmation for the room and were asked for Credit card details. These were provided and confirmation again was given by the hotel that everythng was ok for our stay in January 2008. 3 days before we were due to leave for our holidays, we were told there was no room available for us and we had to make alternative arrangements. For us, a family with a baby of 13 months, we were devistated. We were offered no compensation for our loss. We are seeking legal advice.

Cant fault this hotels cleanliness and the rooms were also recently refurbished so unto a good standard although the lock on the door and balcony door could have done with a change.
The only problem is its location!!!!!! I was scared to leave the hotel.....genuinley!! The first thing that the security guard here offered us was drugs!!! The local shop is only 2 min walk and I was scared to even take a trip there, by the same token the food in the hotel was expensive so you're in a loose loose situation. I would definitely recommend something further up the West Coast of Barbados to be honest...most tourists and I felt a lot more safe up there, you pay a little more money for hotels BUT i suppose you get what you pay for.
Genuinley, here I was scared for my own safety!!!
Another thing was, the hotel was about to shut down and staff, although friendly, you could tell that they were just counting down the days until shut down. No music played round the pool.....when I asked why they said its usually played but because they're shutting down they don't really feel like music....erm hello we're still here!
I would certainly not return to this hotel or this side of Barbados!! Lesson learnt.

I will try and keep this short and to the point !
Barbados isn't cheap and this hotel will pop up on your search as best value for money in this price range. TRUST ME IT IS!
Nice pool area with plenty of seating/ loungers/ Cabana's, singles and doubles. Direct access to the sandy beach from the hotel,
This is the surfing side, plenty of waves.
This area of the island is quite, so be prepared to pay for taxis or get the bus if your looking for evening entertainment
20 dollars will get you to oistins by taxi and you can arrange for him to meet you to take you back.
I would recommend hiring a car it will cost you about £150 for 5 days
Food here is what you would expect to pay at a hotel, yes it is more expensive but quality is good
I could be picky and pull some minor negatives about rooms but you get what you pay for. But what sells this place is the staff!
The ladies on reception are fantastic always friendly and nothing is to much trouble and can organise anything you require ( that is legal) at a good price. The rest of the staff, bar, security, waitresses, maids are all so friendly, helpful and sincere.
If you want value for money in Barbados this is going to be the closest you will get!!
If you ever read my other reviews bad customer service is my pet hate, Not here, 1st class AA RATED!
Sorry, did try but couldn't reduce my review!!!

We found a great deal at the Silver Point Hotel in Christ Church Barbados, and what we found was lovely!
Having been remodeled and renamed from the former Silver Rock Resort this place is a great getaway from the partying scene in Barbados and not nearly as pricey as the Crane.
The hotel though can make some additions, which would make it virtually perfect - change the lighting the bathroom - they have that dreary white fluorescent lights. Add full length mirror and some additional mirrors in the room. The only mirror was in the bathroom and it wasn't full length so picture three women trying to share this mirror! An a/c unit in the living room area, some additional bedding for the pull out bed, TOWELS!!!!
What was up with the towels, not very good quality and not enough!!! They have LCD TV in the Living Room but the reception was poor. They definitely need to have someone from the front desk all night, and not turn over to the sleepy gate keeper. But these details can be fixed and the hotel can become WONDERFUL!!!!
What they do have now that is absolutely the best the Chef Craig I believe was his name. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST IN BARBADOS!!!!!! We ate everywhere in Barbados - Naniki (super disappointing a rip-off), The Restaurant at Sea (super expensive and the food marginal), by far the restaurant at the hotel was the BEST!!!! We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there was not one disappointing meal. The Chef has studied in a culinary institute in Canada, and it shows. The breakfast, OMG the potatoes were lovely, Dinner -the Coconut Shrimp came with a seaweed salad, and Lunch - the salad spectacular. THE FOOD WAS THE BEST!!!! This is coming from some picky women who have eaten all over the world from cheap to high end, and this was of the best, topped only by Europeo Restaurant in Santiago, Chile and Fish in Hong Kong!!!! In an island of expensive restaurants, the place to eat is in the Silver Point Hotel Restaurant. The menu is not extensive, but I am sure Chef Craig and conjure up a special menu upon request in advance for your candlelight dinner.
If the important details lacking in the hotel are polished up, this would be the spot to stay. Still I would stay there again.

Not far. Maybe 15 mins. There wasn’t any traffic
no, silver sands is down the beach and closed.
There is public transportation on the island, the fare is $2USD if I am not mistaken, however the nearest bus stop is 0.5 miles from the hotel. They may not allow you to get on the bus with bulky luggage. You may check out the Barbados airport website(ground transportation) to see if there is a bus route to the hotel area or email the hotel directly. Normally all guests arrive by taxi or rental cars. Taking a bus may be inconvenient and the savings minimal.
