Me and my wife spent nearly three weeks at Mike's place. We loved it: it is super clean, safe and has all that a couple needs on vacation. The place is close to Silver Sands beach. So if life is the beach and then this is aplace for you. Will go there again? you bet.

This is a favorite of mine to stay at. Some people prefer to rent a car ...me I walk to the bus and get around very well....If you wind or kite surf...definitely the place to stay. Affordable and comfortable. It's got everything I need....and a few beach bars/restaurants just around the corner.

Seeing Mike waiting at the airport around 3 in the morning all by my lonesome was a sight for sore eyes cause after all, who doesn't like to see a friendly face after 4hrs and 45 mins on the red eye! We got into the car and in about 12 mins, we arrived "home." When I laid eyes on my little studio, I could not have been happier since it looked just like it did in pictures and it had a modern- edge feel but yet oh so cozy. My studio and me were a match made in heaven. Everything, and I mean everything, was clean . You could be smack dab in the center of the most sought after attractions in the world e.g. beach front, night life, sumptuous cuisine, etc. but if your place isn't clean, esp your bed, kitchen and bath, t's a major turn off. Not an issue here, twas clean, tidy and crisp - thanks mucho family. The location is ideal for peace and quiet, a nice sea breeze and that laid back sea side town casual vibe. The main house is next door or 2 - there are two adjacent studios, mine was at the furthest corner. Either Mike or Pepsi were usually available for any questions, referrals etc. and were always friendly to talk to but always giving you freedom to just do you. My little studio sleeps 2 people who know one another really well but was ideal for me, myself and Irene (no seriously, that is my middle name, lol). I had it real good in there with my Wi-fi and Android screen that had a plethora of radio and tv stations from around the globe, one night when I was back early I even watched a live broadcast of the local news from back home, all included in the package. It's just little touches like that, that really made being away feel like home. There is a also a neat closet with shelves to put your staff away. There is a nice mini mart about 6 mins up the hill that stocks just about everything you could need to whip up a nice home cooked meal if you like and with the stove, cold fridge, toaster oven and micro wave, kettle and coffee maker everything you need to make yourself comfy is right there. Word of advice on that note, if you arrive on the red eye like I did, I hope you are full or have packed a late night snack cause there is nothing open except at the airport -and not the section I arrived at- that time of "night" till about 7 ish. The ceiling fan is nice too, I didn't need AC and the windows have screens- hallelujah- so you can enjoy fresh air without the need to sleep under an annoying mosquito net! Just mind the patio/apt sliding door cause it does not have a screen but it opens to a loverly patio where you can relax, dine or just chill. What I liked best about my stay was everything - the tranquility, the functionality and modern decor of the studio and my friendly hosts. It's away from all the flash of the city center but easy to get to lot's of places like entertainment strip, malls, walk to the beach - surf is rougher on the Atlantic and south side than the West coast just FYI. What I liked least was the semi seclusion arriving home after dark, even though, it's a safe and quiet area, I would have been happy to see a little more foot traffic when I got off at the bus stop at the top of the hill, me being a female traveling solo but that's just me - a city girl who's used to non-stop company of some sorts at all hours here in NYC. It certainly wouldn't stop me from staying here again cause it was just so very lovely and every time I daydream about it, I'm in one of my go to happy places.

Mike and Pepsi are lovely people who provided our airport pickup and dropoff the latter at an uncivilised hour. They also provided our hire car. The apartment is off the main tourist beat, which we like but next to the beach,bar/restaurant and near a bus route and mini market. The accomodation is 'tired'and now needs a thorough spring clean and spruce up and refurb. We would love to stay with them again but they must use a bit more tlc.

It was with some trepidation that we departed for Barbados on the 11/01/2015! Rewind 3 months to October - I'd booked flights (extremely cheaply I might add) to Barbados. This was an impromptu vacation - Our reward for working at Christmas & New Year. But where should we stay? After trawling the internet for what seemed like ages, we'd narrowed it down to 3 or 4 rental properties. I emailed the 'chosen few' - Responses were slow in coming. However within an hour or so Mike's Apartments confirmed they had availability. I didn't book immediately, as I wanted to see what other properties were available - although none of my other inquires obtained responses for several days and even then they couldn't meet our specific requirements! So, I must admit, I panicked and booked Mike's Apartments. Reasonably priced, budget accommodation, and as I later discovered in an area favoured by people who enjoy waters sports i.e. Surfing, Para-sailing, etc. (Which is not our bag). Admittedly, after I had pressed the 'confirm booking' button I was apprehensive to say the least! What had I done? Back to 11/01/2015 Arrived at Grantley Adam's International Airport 2 hours behind schedule! Pepsi was waiting for us outside the main terminal building as arranged. Within 10 minutes we were in our accommodation enjoying a complimentary glass of Pepsi's Rum Punch (More about this later). Our apartment was exactly as it appeared on their website - nothing more, nothing less! In fact we knew our way around our new home (as I previously said) because we'd done our homework! Initially it appeared fairly basic, however we soon came to realise that it had everything that we needed, and more! What the accommodation lacks on internal space, is more than compensated for by the external areas i.e. Patio & garden. Located within 50 metres or so of a very nice beach, a five minute walk from the local supermarket and the same distance from Surfers Bar, which is simply quite idyllic as the sun sets in the evening. Silver Sands itself is a relatively quiet backwater, all the same it felt very safe. Admittedly not much there - Pirates Tavern is closed, so to the Silver Sands Resort. However the area probably benefits from these closures, as it makes for a very quiet and relaxing vacation. We tended to walk to Surfer's Point and drank in the 'Top Bar' which is an authentic Bajan bar and extremely cheap! One of our concerns was that living essentially on the same site as the owners, would possibly be intrusive either for us or for them - Not at all! Mike & Pepsi were there, but only when we needed them i.e. To re-fill our bottles of Pepsi's Rum Punch (Which is to die for). We also hired our car through them - once again extremely reasonably priced and excellent value for money! In summary, we had a wonderful 2 weeks in Barbados. Mike's Apartment exceeded all our expectations, and we can't wait to return! Yes there might be higher specification properties, but you'll pay for them - especially in Barbados. Highly recommended (As is Mike's Smoked Marlin) Thanks Mike & Pepsi for a truly unforgettable vacation!
