We came to Biodiversity Eco Resort on our 6 month sabbatical trip around the world and it was our absolute highlight. (Also: the only place we were soo sad to leave and already googled flights back on the ferry!)
The reasons for that are pretty clear - it’s not only a stunningly beautiful island but also and much rather the people at Biodiversity that make it so special. From kitchen staff to reception to dive masters - everybody is really welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bungalows are beautiful and right next to the beach, nicely decorated and very clean. Food is very delicious, diverse and the family atmosphere at every meal makes you feel home and you immediately find friends. The dive shop is very professional, equipment new and everything is structured and taken care of. Depending on how long you stay they also make sure you go to different sites every day. Also, Tristan and the whole dive team are really fun to dive with and although we were not very experienced divers we always felt safe.
I would absolutely recommend this piece of paradise to anyone and cannot wait to go back myself! Thanks to Kaylee an Tristan for making our stay so special!

Biodiversity provided wonderful service to and from Biodiversity. My group of 5 were assisted from our Sorong Hotel to the ferry, tickets for the ferry were purchased for us and we we shown our seats. We were met at the ferry landing by Biodiversity and walked to the boat that took us to the resort. This smooth operation also occurred on the way back. Biodiversity was well organized eco resort. A beautiful resort with tree covered cabins, for coolness, that were located on the beach to catch the breezes. The dive equipment was good and fit properly. We scuba dived 6 of 7 days, two dives a day. The dives were never repeated. The resort had set up a good dive site schedule for us, as the 5 of us had varying dive experience. We went from beautiful no current dives and ended with current dives viewing the huge manta rays. The marine life was beautiful and plentiful. Not as decimated as the Caribbean. The food was excellent, good selection and plentiful. They did make separate dishes for people with food issues. The house reef in front of the resort was amazing with schools of fish, turtles, baby sharks and a few 6 foot reef/nurse sharks. Did a Bird of Paradise tour and saw the bird. Visited a few of the local villages. We had an awesome time with no issues. Communication with the resort before and during our stay was excellent, professional and friendly. Wifi was from 5pm to 7pm in dining area and I had no issues communicating with family. Awesome relaxing adventure. Bring a bit of bug spray for the evening. Sprayed my ankles a few times just in case but biting insects not an issue.

Dear goliath3234, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay here with us at Biodiversity! Thank you for your kind words on our smooth operations. All the staff work very well together to make sure you arrive/depart safe and hassle free, Oh and of course with a smile:) We make sure to take care of your every need so you can enjoy the many wonders of the Raja Ampat. Your group really got to experience some of the amazing draw points to this beautiful part of the world, from the diving, to the snorkeling, to visiting the village (one which we are very involved with), to bird watching. We are glad you enjoyed the food, our staff cook with love and use only the freshest ingredients! We do have mosquitoes, but they are not as bad as you would expect - we are very lucky, so yes bring along some mosquito spray. Our rooms are also equipped with fans and mosquito nets. We hope to see you back soon! Best Wishes, Kaylee & The Biodiversity Team

Having traveled extensively internationally but based in the USA, planning a trip to Raja Ampat was one of the most difficult trip planning I’ve done in a while.
You have to figure how to get there, and which islands to go once there, and where to stay.
Although there are many options, the amount of information can be quite lacking.
It would be a terrible disappointment having put in so much time and money into getting to Raja Ampat and finding out your accommodations are not to your liking. That can ruin your trip.
There are really two options. The very affordable home stays or more costly dive resorts.
We did both and I think I’ve come up a way to help those who are on the fence about what to choose.
Ask yourself this:
1. Do you like camping?
2. Have you camped in a beach/ocean environment with 100% humidity and sleeping under a mosquito net that blocks all breeze.
If you’re okay with that, then you will be okay at a good home stay.
However if you the above doesn’t sound pleasing, then pay the extra money to stay at a resort like Biodiversity.
Our stay at the Biodiversity is what saved our trip to Raja Ampat from being a punishing experience.
They were amazing from the very first email we sent to the email we received once we got home.
Yes, relatively speaking, it’s expensive but at the same time, it is a great value.
The rooms were so tastefully furnished and comfortable with real beds and hot water in some of the rooms.
The food was absolutely fantastic cooked by locals. I actually lost about 5-7 pounds but it wasn’t because the food was bad. The food was clean, plentiful, tasty, and nutritious. I ate more healthy here than I ever do at home.
The best quality is the staff. They were so welcoming and caring and quite approachable. They genuinely wanted you to have a great experience and were willing to do anything to make that happen.
Having a communal dinner in the evening sharing stories over delicious food was one of the most memorable aspect of this trip.
We went on snorkeling expeditions and the snorkeled the amazing house reef everyday.
I also admired their involvement with the local community and their commitment to responsible eco tourism.
Because if Biodiversity, we can say that we had a wonderful experience in Raja Ampat. Without a doubt, when we go back, it would be here again.
Thank you so much to Kaylee, Tristan, and the rest of the staff for an amazing experience we will cherish forever. I’m glad you guys enjoyed the snacks, hope to bring you more next time.

Visited solo in January for ten days between jobs, was an amazing experience!
Expect an adventurous journey of planes and boats to get there but absolutely worth the effort. The coral and diversity of life under the water is incredible, as many say even at the house reef you can see black tipped sharks, wobegongs, octopus and endless shoals of fish. Particularly enjoyed the day trips to the Fam Islands and Manta sites.
I'd only done c.25 dives in calm conditions prior to the trip however the dive guides were great at helping navigate the current; I ended up nearly every site (bar a few with very strong current).
The cottages and resort are beautiful (one of the rare places that looks exactly like the pictures). I was initially a little concerned about the no aircon but the fans provided and ocean breeze meant it was easy to sleep at night.
Massage is very worth it after a long day diving - 30 euros for an hour with the relaxing sounds of waves lapping on the beach just outside. There are also some cute resort dogs, a local animal the Kuskus (looks a bit like a nicer version of a possum) and interesting birds hopping around in the trees.
Dining is communal and delicious - meat or fish and various vegetable dishes and if you have any dislikes or allergies they will go out of their way to make you a separate alternative version which was great!
Although I travelled alone, it turned out to be a very social holiday meeting a range of snorkelers and divers from all over the world. Would absolutely recommend :)

Dear Samsamnb, Thank you for taking the time to wrote a review on your stay here with us at Biodiversity! We have to agree, it is a mission to get here, but as it goes all the most beautiful paradise locations are hard to get to, but worth the journey! We are glad you enjoyed your diving - Raja Ampat is known for its big currents and was once a place only for experienced divers. Slowly more divers are discovering what a treasure it is to dive in our pristine reef systems, however you are going to experience currents here. We always make sure our divers are comfortable and safety first:) Although we are limited to the fresh stock and produce we can get in, we still manage to accommodate any dietary needs as best we can - thank you for your comment. We hope to see you back here again! Best Wishes, Kaylee & The Biodiversity Team

These 5 days at Biodiversity Nature Resort looked like a perfect imaginable short diving holidays. The corals and underwater life were at their best and diving with mantas was the lifetime experience. The team of diving guides was incredible, they all were very helpful, attentive and maintained such a nice positive and relaxing atmosphere!
The resort is very well maintained, thanks to Kaylee and the team! Very good meal and cosy ambience.
In addition to diving, snorkelling just in front of the resort was very good, I practiced it every day, and there were always new species to see. Kayaking is another great addition to the experience, not to miss. I entered with the kayak a long channel and was able to approach a couple of white cockatoo, quite impressive.
All in all, it was a virtually perfect stay, many thanks to Biodiversity Resort team, and hope to be back.
A practical note: if you need internet connection, it is better not to rely on local wifi. Inexpensive data cards were available in the resort and worked well.

Dear Igor239, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay here with us at Biodiversity! We are glad you enjoyed the Biodiversity of the Raja Ampat waters. Being situated in the Coral Triangle allows for the most spectacular marine life and of course Mantas, during Manta season! It is a life time experience and one every diver or snorkeler should have on their bucket list. Kayaking is also beautiful here and with the calm, crystal clear blue waters it is perfect for spotting other species. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you back here for another visit. Best wishes Kaylee & The Biodiversity Team

If you are looking for a beautiful island, one of the best diving spots ,you’ll probably ever see. I did love everything about my 10 day stay in here . The diving was spectacular, the location is breathtaking, the food was delicious, and the resort was excellent, everyday I was asleep with the sound of the waves and wake up with the sound of the birds .
There really aren’t adequate words to describe my experience at Biodiversity .
The diving is the best in the world of course and what the founders and staff have created is an inspiration.
I would highly recommend to go to this resort if you like to fully relax and dive in paradise. The owners Rey and Patricia treat every guests as friends , sit with us together for dinning everyday , chatting and sharing every things about the dive sides ,the birds and adventures as much as they know .
" come as a guest , but leave as a friend "

We (family with kids) were visiting the resort back in October – spent a week in this unforgettable place. It is really difficult to find even small thing which we did not enjoy therefore this review is about all the rest (which was 100% good) – health, safety and protocols (all taken care of – small kids felt safe and enjoyed the place even more than adults), location – like in National Geographic photos and documentaries, accommodation – simple but really nice (nothing fancy though), stylish and very local (it seems like you become part of surrounding jungles – though not for those who does not like morning jungle bird songs – better stay in the city and enjoy morning car traffic sounds😊) but with all the amenities provided (phone signal worked, wifi (when turned on in the evenings was fine to have WhatsApp voice calls). Food – the best Indonesian we tried here in Indonesia so far. Hosts – amazingly beautiful, very welcoming and social family. And of course the nearby magic diving locations … the beauty and diversity which is difficult to describe in words… (speaking of diving equipment – all professionally taken care of – no issue whatsoever, the owner of the place is also a dive guide – on of the best guides I met during my 100 or so dives).

After dreaming of Raja Ampat for 10 years, I was quite apprehensive of being disappointed because no matter what, when it's your dream vacation (and you spent all that you saved up in your holiday fund), the stakes are high.
But from the moment we arrived (in the pouring rain without luggage and after 48 hours of straight traveling) we felt so incredibly well taken care of and that did not change at all throughout the week. The attention to detail, the flexibility with the excursions and diving, the incredible food, everything was simply amazing. And not just that, we felt right at home with Patricia and Rey and everyone at the resort.
The rooms are huge and well equipped. We had booked the deluxe room with warm water showers, which I really appreciated, especial after our night dive. It's not a necessity, though. More are luxurious detail. We did not really miss an air-condition either. The rooms were well ventilated and not too hot.
We loved the private deck to hang out as well as the private beach.
In the evening before dinner, it was also lovely to chill, read and write log books in the restaurant/bar area, which was also a great spot in case of a random thunderstorm rolling through (btw, the best sleep we ever had was during the rain storms at night, the sound was absolutely surreal) .
Regarding the weather, we knew we had taken a risk, going in July as that is the windy season. When we arrived, we did have 1-2 days with quite a lot of clouds and rain. Wind was never really an issue. And most days after the beginning were quite beautiful even if clouds often rolled in around the late afternoon.
The scuba diving was of course excellent as this is Raja Ampat after all. It did not disappoint! The dive center was really well organized and the boats were never too full. Our guides (thanks Bobby and Tristan!) took great care of us and made the experience fun for everyone, even with divers with different skill levels on board (my husband had just gotten certified).
I was a bit nervous about diving in currents, using reef hooks and just in general getting back into diving after a pandemic related hiatus. But everyone made me feel quite safe and taken care of and I managed to gain a good amount of experience and continue our journey a much more confident diver.
Oh and the food was absolutely incredible. I don't know how the ladies in the kitchen managed it but neither me nor my husband had anything to eat that wasn't exceptionally delicious! Always fresh and a great mix that never got boring.
Last but not least, thank you for going to such lengths in helping us get our luggage! We were without suitcases the whole week and managed to get the bags just in time to hop on our boat to out next stop. Patricia even brought me some of her clothes to help out.
We couldn't have imagined a more perfect week and I will forever want to come back to that little piece of paradise.

Dear Julia B, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay here with us at Biodiveristy Nature Resort. We are so glad that we lived up to your Raja Ampat dream holiday and that you felt well looked after thorughout your stay. We have to agree with you, our white sandy beach is an added bonus to have for those long beach walks before an evening drink by our resturant/bar area. The weather is one of those unpredictable things that we can not control. Being in a tropical climate the weather can change very quickly and we are so happy you embraced this. To hear that you left a more confident diver makes us very happy to have been apart of this experience with you. Thank you for your commnets on our dive operation. We will let the Kitchen know that you loved the food. We hope to see you back again in the near future Warm regards The Biodiversity team

Our trip to Raja Ampat completed a 10 year dream, wanting to get out to the remote archipelago, but never quite finding the time to make it work. The choice to stay at Biodiversity came from other friends recommendations, and it was the best choice we could have made - Raja Ampat was everything we had hoped: underwater it was incredible diving - awash with mantas, world class corals, lots of sharks, crazy little small things, and masses and masses of fish. And above water it was mind blowing landscapes and horizons, as we dotted between the islands, along with perfect weather, and then Biodiversity itself.
The resort is just on the right side of "rustic" - if you want super flash, this probably isnt your hotel, but if you want a wonderful laid back atmosphere, a perfect isolated hammock to lie on to look out over the sea from, your bungalow right on the beach so you fall asleep to the sound of waves, and are kept cool by the fresh sea breeze, a beach bar right on the jetty with amazing views and incredible sunrises, then this is the perfect place. The vibe is communal, with everyone dining together, so the sense of community between other guests is strong, as you eat together, go off and explore the oceans together, and maybe have a drink together. Kaylee and Tristan were the perfect hosts, and while Tristan is the underwater photo supremo, Kaylee seems willing to bake birthday cakes even if you technical birthday is 4 months out... :)
All in, it was one of the holidays of a lifetime. We went in January, and now stuck back in London in the 4th week of Covid 19 lock down in April, I thank my blessings we made it out there this year, got to dive Raja Ampat this year, and got to stay at Biodiversity this year. Reflecting on that, 2020 isnt so bad after all.... thanks guys. x
We visited Raja Ampat biodiversity fom from the 10th to the 17th of October 2020 and not only did we feel safe regarding COVID, but we also felt welcome, appreciated, lucky and truly pampered. They complied with the protocols and helped us to investiate the rather difficult Indonesian helath protocols. Every question was answered promptly and correctly. From the moment the resort staff picked us up at the airport, they took charge of everything letting just enjoy the view and relax, we even got the most delicious donuts in case we were hungry. The place is a piece of heaven on earth, the cottages are in harmony with thejungle and there is truly an environmental focus on the resort. We could hear the night animals and the waves while we fall asleep and woke up with an orchestra of tropical birds welcoming the sun. There are coral reefs, sharks, birds of paradise, parrots, marsupials, I can't even count all the animal we saw just by stepping out of our cottage. The snorkkeling was unforgettable, like a movie, the jungle trek felt like a National Geographic experience, the food was amazing and the menu changed every day. The staff was amazingly nice and professional and the owners Patricia and Rei made us and our children to feel as if we were at home. I can totally recommend this place, don't miss it!!

Hello, Fam day trip is very popular and in high season we organize it about twice a week. Please note that there is 40Euros supplement for the day trip as is further away than the dive sites we cover with dive package.
Hi Bob
Depends on condition
Most of the time with drift dives we enter water and after 60 Min we set the Boje
The captain and the people on board Looking to the current.
I recommend:
Everybody should have his own safety marker, whistle etc
Don’t worry
We had some max strong currents and everything went fine
The dive guides have a good feeling about the skill level of their divers
Hello Dona
Sorry its taken a while to answer your question. Yes we have a wonderful house reef, we are very lucky that the fringe reef system we have directly in front of the resort is densely packed with corals and houses a lot of different marine life. We also have a famous dive site at the end of our house reef which is easily reachable called Batu Lima (five Rocks). Plus we also off snorkelers the option of joining the dive boat as many of the sites the divers visit also has wonderful snorkeling as well.
I hope this helps, please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you have any further questions.
Kind Regards
Biodiversity Team
Hi Dona.
The snorkeling is fantastic. You have two choices, the first one is snorkeling directly in from of your cottage and around the dock or snorkeling in the dive zones (I strongly recomend you this option). When we had finished the morning dives and we need more "fishes" we spent one hour in the afternoon doing snorkel near the resort.
Anyway, when I was there with my wife (both are divers) we shared the time with a snorkeling couple, and they snorkelled in the same places that we dived (the depth is not too big for both activities and the boat always is close to you, additionally you are always close to a beach).
When we finished the dive, naturally we asked them about their experience and always they were delighted, they had snorkeled in other places and according with their words, no place had been better.
Seriously , don´t be afraid, you will enjoy the snorkeling as never before.
Regards.
Óscar
