Whilst I appreciate that this property is in a perfect area for activities it does need some improvement and investment. The birds and wildlife around the hotel are lovely but the rooms are very basic and as ours did not have any outdoor seating very claustrophobic. We complained about the cleanliness of the bathroom on arrival and the staff were... More

The rooms here are dated and could use some sprucing up, but the main attraction here is the natural environment. Outside your room you can watch birds coming into the feeding area, search for frogs at night (or during the day for that matter), visit the butterfly sanctuary, or head to the river to look for owls and other wildlife.... During our two week tour of Costa Rica, we stayed at La Quinta Sarapiqui for 2 nights. The lush grounds are beautiful and added value to our stay. It was a delight to walk on the paths and visit the onsite butterfly pavilion, gardens, frog area and bird feeders. There was no shortage of flora and fauna on the grounds... More

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our Collette tour. The lodgings were rustic but adequate. The only main disappointment was the creaky bed. Otherwise the room was dated but did the job - we weren't here to see the room after all. The bird feeding area was delightful - so many different species! We also enjoyed their... More

We visited as a small group. Best---the birds! They put fruit out every morning and beautiful birds come in. Trails are great, room just OK, but not horrible-just rustic and certainly not a reason to stay away. Buffet meals with regional foods. Friendly staff.

We stayed at the hotel for one night during our road trip through costa rica. The staff is very helpful and helped us reschedule a canopy tour and planned a boat trip for us. In the restaurant they work with a fixed menu both for dinner and breakfast, there was no buffet but they did prepare eggs. The food was... More

We visited this hotel on a Collette tour. The infurstructure outside of the office and the dining area is horrible. Our room was dirty and there were bugs and flies in the room. The windows in the closet would not close so the bugs were coming in. I solved that problem by using my Swiss Army knife to fix the... More

Gardens are lovely with alot of creatures. The ant colony tour was fascinating. Lovely pools. We enjoyed the buffet - lots of variety. Catered well for vegetarians. Unfortunately the room was quite uncomfortable. Hard beds and pillows, and freezing cold showers. Aircon was a positive, as was the pretty balcony with a hammock.

I led a group of birdwatchers through Costa Rica and this was our first lodge. The staff was excellent and our reservation was accurate. We checked in quickly to our rooms. The rooms are in need of some refreshing. The bed may have been the worst one I've slept in in a while - hard and with a crinkly mattress... More

I loved this place. Our room, #40, overlooked the river and the view was 5 star (see picture). The buffet contained a lot of regional choices which I enjoy. The king bed was comfortable and the bathroom well sized with hair drier and well used towels. The room is exceptionally dark and we could not read without going to the... More
