Heliconia Island is a very nice and quiet mountain lodge amidst lush tropical rainforest on the edge of the Sarapiqui River, the offers personalized attention and great service, with simple and tasty meals. There are frogs and birds everywhere.

This was my CR paradize: the beautiful garden with howler monkeys and sloths and...., the rooms with jungle experience, the breakfast with so many birds, the kind manager who knew all the birds. The manager was helpful in reserving a frogs-tour and a boat trip on the Sarapiqui....both very nice...

The family that manages this B&B are wonderful people that would do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. The chef made each breakfast and dinner such a treat. Melvin runs the desk and will set up any activity that would be your pleasure. I wish we had booked a couple of more days there. Don't miss this on your...

Our family enjoyed our stay in this comfortable jungle garden spot. We loved crossing a bridge to enter a rare place. Walks around the grounds and along river at night and during the day revealed a variety of wildlife and native plants. Melvin was a most hospitable, kind host and made special efforts to show us a sloth in the...

We liked the gardens, breakfast selection, kitchenette, and we saw a great variety of birds, howler monkeys, and bats. Accommodations are private (each room/suite is in its own building) with a nice deck. Inside the suite was our least favourite part, but it was absolutely fine for one night. Melvin and Herbert are polite and accommodating hosts. Recommendation for the...

The room was beautiful with nice view. Staff was very helpful, fun & friendly and great cook 👌🏻 We saw so many different, colourful birds in the awesome, garden of the island. Also monkeys and squirls living on the heliconia island. When you want to visit Sarapiqui, this really is the best choice.

I liked this place a lot, and could have stayed here longer. The grounds were beautiful and very 'birdy' (other wildlife too -- including Howler monkeys). There were only 2 drawbacks: 1) No real restaurant -- you had to place orders well in advance of any meal, and 2) Early morning & after dark, it was a little daunting to...

Stayed here overnight as part of a planned stop. Excellent hosts who make you feel very welcome on arrival and are able to advise on local walks etc. The hosts Melvin and his brother Herberth are looking after the place while the owners are away but did a superb job in looking after us. The rooms are fairly basic but...

We were traveling down from La Fortuna to Turrialba and needed a place half way to stop for a day/night. So thankful to have found Heliconia Island B&B!! The turnoff to Heliconia Island from the main road is a bit discreet, so be sure to follow google maps. You'll drive down a fairly rocky road until you see their sign,...
