BEWARE. The finance person may try to overcharge you. Our trip was was ruined by the finance individual who overcharged my family by nearly 1,000 CHF. I thought it was a genuine error & misunderstanding, but Giardino has refused to correct their mistake. They communicated at checkout that they would fix it. It has been three months and they have not fixed it. Now they give me a run around and say it was a valid charge. Marriott has not been helpful either as they said the hotel has to fix it. The hotel tells me they are unable to now. Someone can issue the refund, but both companies are saying they can't. It's not honest. Neither the hotel nor Marriott is honoring the price I had in my reservation confirmation. It is absolutely horrible customer service to put the customer in the middle of corporate inefficiencies and communication break downs. They accept loyatly points on Marriott.com and the terms & conditions list this hotel, but they don't care and don't honor it even though it was clearly booked that way. I should state I am a Gold level member with Marriott with loyalty of over 15 years. If they treat a loyal customer this way, I would assume it would be worse for anyone else. Do not attempt to use your loyalty points here. They will pretend to accept them until checkout when you realize they have charged your credit card in full. I'm going to have to reach out to executives at Marriott to try to get our money back. I suggest saving yourself the headache and time suck of dealing with this unethical individual and staying somewhere else.…
I had been looking forward staying at the Giardino so much. B The entrance and bar area are nice. The rooms are small, no view. No coffee machine in the room. Some of the staff members are not wearing a mask or plastic shield in the restaurant. Pool is nice but too many small kids. Restaurant is great. Be careful with which room you choose some are overlooking the parking and are rather depressive.
We were looking forward to get back to the Giardino where we stayed very often some years back under the unforgettable late Hans Leu. Our experience was mixed. We liked: +Very friendly staff, right from the booking to arrival to departure +Fantastic breakfast buffet with a very large choice +excellent COVID security measures in place with staff being tested twice a week, sterilizer dispenser everywhere and mask wearing followed by the guests +DInner at ECCO was spectacular, both in the sequence of fantastic dishes as well as for the impeccable service +Fitness room with large choice of top Technogym equipment + Great (small) SPA, wiht excellent treatment -Room design with a bathtub in the bedroom neither nice nor functional -interior design more adequate for a city hotel , lacking the great mediterrean flair in Leu's days -food (and service) in the Hide&Seek main restaurant nothing to write home about…
Nice hotel well kept and cozy but... I was not happy with the room I was assigned as it was right above the entrance so quite noisy and absolutely no view... ask not to be assigned a room there if possible. At the pool the service was non existent, to get a drink I had to wave 15 minutes to get attention from the waiters. We then asked for a spritz for aperitiv and we ended up having to go to the counter and order there...it then came 15 minutes later with a small bowl of some hard salted seeds or cheakpea. We asked if they had like chips or smth. else and they said no that's all it came with...really not acceptable at a hotel of this level and cost. At breakfast I asked for a hot latte macchiato it came twice cold. Last thing but this is just a feedback regarding expectations people may have so nothing to do with the hotel, from the pictutes on the website I had imagined it located more like on a hill in a secluded place instead is on flat land no view of the lake in a residential area. Having said this only to provide feedback for improvement, the hotel is nice as well as the staff. I don't think I would go back but would recommend to a friend for one night over a weekend.…
We truly enjoyed our stay at Giardino in Ascona. The room was nice, decent size, perfectly clean and we have got fresh fruits every day. We have had dinner twice at the Hide and Seek and loved the food. We made use of the whole services and facilities: enjoyed the beautiful garden and pool, booked a beauty treatment which was great and attended a Yoga and a Pilates class. What really makes the difference at this hotel is the staff: They very professional yet friendly and charming. We will definitively come back.
Last week my Family and I had an amazing experience and the privilege of staying at the Giardino Ascona!! Every moment of our stay was exceptional, from the rooms, to the food, to the Service!! Every employee, manager, member of the team went out of their way to make our stay so special!!! Hiking, Tours, Boats, Biking, they helped us every step of the way and could not have been more outgoing and supportive!!! The hotel Grounds and the pools were amazing!!! Thank you so much!!!

Stayed here for the first time for 5 days and enjoyed our stay a lot, amazing how well their staff manages to deliver such a high standard of service even during the pandemic times, BIG compliment to each and every one of taking care of us so nicely. The Resort is in good shape and gives the relaxed type of luxury vacation feel, not too formal but still classy. Welcome was very pleasant with check in at the bar with fresh Ice Tea and cold towels, valet parking was quick so the bell service, allowing us to get to the pool area to unwind from the trip. During our stay we enjoyed daily breakfast buffet that offers you a big variety of food and attentive service all the time. Had dinner twice here, please check out my separate review for the 'Ecco' as this place deserves extra attention. The dinner at the main restaurant was good but the food was nothing really special unfortunately. Did like (and use...) the bar a lot, many great offerings are available and service was always very personal. This counts for the whole resort, amazing! The pool area is large with enough sun chairs available and also features a pool side restaurant. For the room we just got the basic type of that gives you all you need, including a small balcony with 2 chairs, and everything you would expect, room service is always quick and cleaness of the room is very good. Did not try their SPA so I cannot comment on that one. The best part of our stay was the mix of a nice imfrastructure, lush garden and pool area, and the very friendly, attentive staff. I always stress the point that the intercation between the staff and their guests are making the difference from a good place to a top notch resort and here, the Giardino Ascona shines! Even though all of the staff was very good I would like to highlight Christian who was our waiter at the Ecco and again once at breakfast, just impressive how he quickly gets what you need, an imdividual with the perfect eye for everything hospitality. The Verdict: great vacation resort, flawless experience, and a staff that makes your stay memorable. Keep it up!…
We just come back very happy and refreshed after a ten days holiday from this magnificent hotel on the beautiful lake Maggiore. Everything is up to very high standards, from the staff, to the restaurants, to the spa and the swimming pools. Thank you All for making our holiday very special and unforgettable but a super special thank you is for Bianca, Daria and Nicholas from the kids club who looked after and entertained our son George extremely well! Keep up your high quality and see you next summer.
We travelled on a one nights stay.. The hotel was quite welcoming and the staff is super friendly... the service is mediocrely... the pool full of kids jumping around and splashing water onto you.. (we have no kids). The room a junior suite cost us almost CHF 1000 the night.. no coffee machine, no means to darken the windows, toiletries for one person, and no cushions for the loungers in the outside space... definitely not worth the money - more 4 than 5 star.
