The good points first: A receptionist was extraordinarily friendly and she also changed us to another room. The location is great, the view breathtaking and the garden beautiful.
The arrival in the room was a shock. You book a 4* hotel and end up in a 0* room - even rooms in a restaurant I experienced more beautifully than here. The pictures speak for themselves (and this room was charged to us at CHF 400 per night!). Since a cancellation was no longer possible we were allowed to change the room and category (therefore 2 instead of 1 star review). Although it was 'newly renovated', even this one would not be worth 500 francs per night to us. The materials used look cheap, the bath has been partially renovated to the maximum, the joints are yellow (as already mentioned by someone else here). For us, it seemed as if maximum billing (it really is an expensive hotel) but minimally invested. Everywhere something crumbles, the sun blinds are sometimes more black than yellow. The staff at breakfast is neutral but certainly not 4* level. We wonder who gives these ratings, because in our eyes it does not correspond to three stars.

I have been to this hotel several times, mainly because of the good location with the very nice view. Even in bad weather you can enjoy the good breakfast on the terrace. The whole hotel and rooms are well decorated and clean. What dampened your good mood this time was the extremely unfriendly receptionist on the day of departure. The only thing she cared about was whether we had consumed anything else from the minibar. No demand as the stay was, no thank you for visiting, no “good journey home”. Very pity and unprofessional in a hotel with rather high room rates.

I stayed two nights at the hotel. The building is a bit old, but very nicely located on a hill. The view of Ascona and Locarno is stunning. The view from the hotel pool is also excellent. By the way, you reach the center very quickly via a very nice and somewhat hidden staircase (where you can also eat late at night). I booked the cheapest room category. At check-in (very friendly by the way) I was advised that I will have neither balcony nor view. This was helpful as a “warning” and it was actually the case that I had a view into a rather ugly backyard. It is worth spending a little more at this hotel, as there are rooms with wonderful views. Downside was for sure that it had no air conditioning in my room. The fan helped a bit, but ultimately it stays with hot air. Apparently, only already renovated rooms have Air Condition. Also something to look out for when booking when travelling in midsummer. And yes, stretch carpet in the room is just one of those things ... whether I will stay there again? I would certainly choose another room.

The hotel offers beautiful views of Ascona, the lake and the mountains. It has a heated swimming pool and a beautiful garden. The rooms were very clean and welcoming. The staff was nice and client oriented, really making you feel comfortable. We truly enjoyed the experience and definitely will go back.

A paradise above Ascona. I've been there 4 times already. Will be warmly welcomed every time. The welcome drink and something to nibble on is already ready. The property is very well maintained and beautiful. The staff very nice and helpful. I feel like home! The pool heated to 27°, always inviting to swim. A beautiful wellness area, sauna & Shakusi. We traveled with a small dog and although we were provided with a dog bed and bowls, the dog was not allowed anywhere in the hotel. The hotel delivered the food to our room in the evening as part of our half-board package, which we were pleased about. However, the experience in terms of taste and menu sequence in our previous hotel in Adelboden was of a higher quality. The cleanliness and service in the hotel are excellent.

The hotel is located on the slope above Ascona, so you have a very nice view of the lake. A car is an advantage. Very nice gardens with a heated pool. Breakfast is OK, some of the croissants and bread were a bit hard and the 5 and 3 minute eggs were all hard, i.e. cooked for far too long. But breakfast was good overall. Friendly and efficient service. Omelette very good. A no-go was that we had to pay 12 francs twice (2 nights) to park our car in the garage because the normal outside parking spaces were all taken. Unacceptable with a room price of over 300 per night. All in all, it was a good stay.
