We find this Hotel in particular one of the best in the region for many different reasons. The food is delicious and healthy, the staff are very friendly and they always make us feel welcome. You get very good value for the price. The owner speaks both English and French very well. They care about nature and handle things accordingly, i.e. sauna on request, tap water for free, shuttle service, just to mention a few. We will be back, for sure!

Our stay here was fine. The hotel was clean and functional. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a very modest continental breakfast, relatively limited and ran out of some items which were not replenished. We had hoped to use the sauna, but they only switched it on when someone wanted to use it, and since we hadn't known this in advance, we couldn't use it when we wanted to. The hotel seems a little tired in the public areas, and little attention is paid to the overall aesthetic (lots of stuff seemed to be stored in public areas, so the whole place had a functional rather than stylish approach. We had a good dinner in the restaurant (the fish and chips pictured above haha). Staff were friendly. For this, the price was, we thought, and given other stays on our short trip, relatively poor value for money. Hotels in Switzerland are generally very expensive anyway, but even so to pay over CHF200 for a night seemed steep.

Clean hotel in a really central location. Beautiful views. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money. If you get the local bus or get the cable car up to the mountain, ask at reception for a card for a discount 😊 would recommend going up the mountain and walking to lake oeschinen! Amazing !

The hotel is clean and within foot distance of Kandersteg village but not very charming. The directrice is dog-friendly though. Breakfast was a bit on the cheap side for a three-star hotel. Rooms to the street are very loud.

We spent a few nights in this hotel. The first two were quiet and lovely. Unfortunately, the last one was really loud because of the neighbors (not the hotel’s fault). The manager was nice but not much more outgoing than the needed check-in/out service. The third day our room wasn’t cleaned for some reason. The view is stunning from the last floor! I would recommend this place during the low tourist season in order to enjoy the silence the mountains have to offer.

With over 30 years hiking in the Alps, Kandersteg is without doubt one of my favourite resorts with the additional attraction of the quite exceptional Blumlisalp hotel. As to be expected the 3rd generation Swiss owners are very efficient, knowledgeable, yet reticent but always around, ready to help. The hotel is extremely well run, Rooms are perfect and the cuisine is extraordinary. The set meal with half-board is at 7pm and a fine ‘a la carte’ menu is always available. The four courses for the set meal are quite different each night, always very original, simple in style and very very tasty, ideal after an active day in the mountains. That the food is so wonderful is not surprising, now that I have discovered that the hotelier, Mr Wyss-Wandfluh, is a Revered Master of Swiss chefs – there are only 250 such hotels in all of Switzerland. As a very experienced business and family traveller I would without hesitation award this lovely quiet hotel my own five star rating or 10 out of 10 - that is to say it is one of the very best hotels I have ever staying at anywhere. It is ideal for families (I came several times with my young children who loved the wonderful outdoor swimming pool in the village) or for couples or a sole traveller, which I am now. Just for the record I have stayed in several other hotels in Kandersteg over the years and concluded that this hotel is by far the best in the village for a 4 to 7 day stay and I will return. It offers quite outstanding value and just for the food, it is really worth a big detour.

We had lunch there on our way passing through. The menu left no wishes open. The food was delightful, the service impeccable and efficient, and the hospitality just great. We truly enjoyed it, even though the portions were really measured for very hungry hikers. The atmosphere of the restaurant was reminding us of the eighties.

We stayed here on August 20 and 21, 2017, the last two nights of our 8-night Swiss Alps adventure. We started in Grindelwald, then went on to Wengen, Murren, and Kandersteg for our final destination. Our room in the Hotel Blumlisalp was clean, plenty spacious and had a balcony with a view and quite modern. It was a most lovely stay. Breakfasts were good, and dinners at the restaurant were excellent. Kandersteg is a beautiful small town. Our stay in this hotel made it quite memorable.

The room was ready when we arrived at 12, which was a nice bonus! Reception were great, as were staff generally: they were expecting us and knew when our packs were due to arrive from our previous hotel. They brought them up for us. We observed: no fridge/minibar, but there was bottled water in the room which was good. There is free wifi. Oddly, the shower room was in the middle of the room, with the desk and wardrobe area and most of the windows, through on the other side (from which there was a good view down the valley). Odd that the plumbing couldn't have been put over on the side as this made the room feel much smaller than it actually is; there was a lot of dead space as a result. The bed was very comfortable. The dining room was open, but there were no menus displayed, so we went down the road instead.

Our tour company booked us here as part of our hiking trip through the Bernese Oberland. We hiked from Griesalp, over Hohturli to Kanderstag to get here. The receptionist was welcoming, friendly, and showed us to our room. We were on the 2nd floor, there is a lift, we took our bags to our room. The room was average sized, bathroom small to average. There is a balcony, there was a slight view of the mountains. Wifi worked well. The radiators were not able to be turned on (we tried) which is understandable since it was late June, but we had a very long cold wet hike and our socks, clothing, backpacks needed to dry and so having a hot radiator to hang things on to dry would have been nice (we were able to do this in other hotels). We decided to eat at the restaurant in the hotel since it was raining and it was average. The chef did come out to say hi which is always a nice touch. Dogs are allowed to be in the dining room, which didn't bother us at all, but something we don't see usually. Breakfast the next morning was not as good as we've had at other hotels on this trip, no hot items, only cold. Bread selection not as good as other hotels we stayed in on this trip. Our tour company booked us here as part of the "Top Class" group of hotels…I'm not sure I would have rated this hotel as "Top Class", maybe the other top class hotels in the city were booked full although we booked this tour way in advance). This is certainly an adequate place to stay, but if you are looking for something above average, perhaps browsing other options would be worthwhile.
