They say that the journey is part of the the experience. This is exactly what this place is all about. The hike here can be challenging, depending on which trail you take. The steep one is shorter, but steep! The longer trail is a lot longer,,but so scenic! I think it was my favorite trail of our 4 day hike.... More

When planning a trip to Europe, I couldn't find much information about Meglisalp. Luckily, after visiting the Lauderbrunnen we were convinced by our Swiss friend to visit Meglisalp. It takes some time to get to, but it's very worth it! We took the paved route. The road is incredibly steep! Stop at Sond Wollkomm for delicious Appenzeller beer or one... More

We hiked up and over Ageteplatte from Mesmer to get here. Tough hike and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone afraid of heights, but it is the shortest way from Schäfler. This is a beautiful community on a ledge above Seealpsee valley. The hot 3 minute shower was very welcome; towels, shampoo, soap, and blow dryer all provided. Everything is... More

I concur with previous reviewers who remarked on the excellent food and comfortable accommodations at Meglisalp. In addition, let me point out the added value of staying in a small community of cows, goats, and dairymen who create an excellent atmosphere. The dairy products from their efforts are served at the inn and are outstanding. We also stayed at Schafler... More

We came here for a birthday party of a friend who had turned 40. The climb to Meglisalp took us about 2 hours. Pity the weather was so bad with lots of rain and even more wind. Otherwise I'm sure the view would have been great. Once we arrived at the hostel, all turned well. We took a wonderfully warm... More

We stayed at the Berggasthaus Meglisalp for 1 night. Whether you arrive after an exhausting hiking tour from Seealp, the Bollewees or Säntis: Here you can relax, enjoy a hearty dinner (try the traditional "Spätzle" noodles with fried onions and grated cheese!) and sleep like a log. The Meglisalp is a beautifully located hamlet far away from the next city... More
