Spacious room, hotel close to train station and supermarkets and banks nearby. Very nice breakfast, very friendly staff. Parking garage but be careful for the steep entrance. Hotel has a nice restaurant, and not many other restaurants in town...
Stayed 2 nights - we wanted to be close to Zermatt for the glacier paradise. The hotel was comfortable with friendly staff. Good to have free parking and breakfast included in the price. The station is opposite so really convenient for Zermatt.
The train station is directly opposite, which is great for the Zermatt Shuttle. The village lacks cafes and restaurants but don't worry; the food in this family-owned and -run hotel is superb. We were a group of 18 and most of us tried a variety of dishes, all of which were plentiful and well-prepared. (There's a pizzeria next door) Breakfast was included in the price we paid. The serving staff were just lovely, really lovely. They took time and appeared to enjoy chatting with the guests. Rooms were simple but spacious, definitely authentic Swiss style - no kettle unfortunately, though. Bar and lounge area are comfortable. Nothing seemed any bother to the staff or owners. Thank you Frau Koch for all your advice. We plan to return!
Tasch is a beautiful scenic city, may not be as a good as Zermatt, however, if you are travelling by car this is the nearest you can get. The hotel provides free parking and right in front of the station. Grocery store and food joints are all near by. It is a less expensive way to stay near Zermatt and cal still enjoy the day at the matterhorn.
Visited this lovely family hotel during holidays for a skiing week and enjoyed it a lot. The rooms are very cosy, alpine atmosphere, the restaurant & bar excellent, with a lot of local specialties, good quality and reasonable prices. Just next to the train station, it is so convenient way to get to Zermatt. The New Year's eve gala was amazing, the atmosphere very friendly. All the staff were amazing, very friendly and caring, compliments to Anna & Eva, real asset for the hotel. Thank you for our wonderful stay. Highly recommended!!!
We were looking for a place to stay at reasonable prices to visit Zermatt and came across this gem! Hotel City is located right in front of the Täsch train station, which has trains running to Zermatt every 10/20 mins. We went here in late December, and this was priced 1/3rd of what hotel in Zermatt would have charged us per night. The hotel itself is very nice. It has parking spaces underground (paid!), and it includes breakfast and WiFi. We stayed in a room in the renovated area and have no complains at all! We had a private balcony for ourselves! The bathroom also features heated tiles, which was an unexpected plus. The room was warm enough even with the outside temp being ~0C/30F. The breakfast is served in a very nice dining area in the basement. It has everything a typical European breakfast would feature: great selection of cheese and bread, jam, cereals, ham and yogurt! All in all, I would highly recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit Zermatt!…
Stayed here for 1 night during travelling around Switzerland. Upon arrival, no one was at reception so we pressed the bell and a lady appeared. She wasn't the friendliest at all but she got someone from outside to check us in. He was even more unfriendly, as though it was too much hassle for him to do his job. Simply asked my name which I told him 3 times and then he was rude as he looked through printed confirmation saying well where can I read your name then? Not the best of starts. The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. We had arrived around 8pm so went straight out to get food. Tasch reminded me of an old style western town. We ended up eating at the hotel as there was waiting times everywhere else. Again not the friendliest of greetings but food was nice although most expensive meal we had during our 6 day stay in Switzerland and wasn't particularly worth it at all. Breakfast mediocre, toast but tiny toaster for about 50 people to use and cereal, no pastries or fruit. Good Base to stay for zermat which was stunning and location was great but the staff could be a little friendlier.…
Pluses - brilliant location, a crossing away from the railway station, tastefully done up rooms and decor, the cellar-like breakfast buffet alley and the beer served! Minuses: an extremely moody / rude waitress at the lobby / bar - who kept sprinkling explicitly racist comments about Asians behave / eat and yap aloud. This wasn't just once, but was a recurring pattern across every conversation we had, which made the overall vibe of the place unwelcoming, to say the least. We couldn't have a peaceful dinner at the bar as she'd some choicest advice to offer about when to do beer and food and how Asians get it all wrong, while we were ordering food?! As a popular destination that attracts tourists from world over, this is not even the last thing one would expect in an otherwise friendly country. This made the overall stay distasteful and we'd think twice b4 recommending the place unless the staff behavior transforms to one that is empathetic and embraces all cultures. PS: bathrooms could have been a bit more spacious.…
We visited Tasch on June. Our destination was Zermatt but staying at Tasch was more comfortable for us as the only mean of transport to get to zermatt is by train. This hotel is located right in front of the train station. It was just 1 minute walk. Breakfast was very good and delicious with various types of cold cuts etc. I didn't like though that the breakfast was in a basement. I would definitely recommend it to others.
We stayed in Tasch - Hotel City for 2 nights while visiting Zermatt. There is a carport next the hotel to take the train in to Zermatt that goes every 20 min from 6am to midnight. Otherwise, the train runs every hour. The hotel was nice and clean with 5 floors. We had an awesome breakfast buffet every morning. There were items to buy as far as jewelry and christmas ornaments. The information center is only 1/2 block away. There was parking for 9 francs a day which is cheaper than the lot across the street for Zermatt (40 francs a day). There was a restaurant at the hotel for eating and drinking at the bar. A grocery store is right next door. There are restaurants close and within walking distance.
