We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July. We are 2 adults, a nearly 5 year old and our little dog. For space we needed a premium suite in the Bellavista wing which is the newer section near the spa. We had a terrace with access to the garden which was great with the dog. It was also very near the spa/pool and kids club. An all round great room location for us. We preferred the decor of the suite we stayed in last summer but this certainly gave us more space. The kids club is very well equipped and Ilonka and Lucie were super friendly. They managed the impossible task of making our anxious daughter comfortable enough to stay on her own and did some great activities. Angel in concierge is fabulous. He has an infectiously fun and happy personality. Him and the rest of the concierge and reception team are very helpful. Our spa is treatments were fantastic and the pool and kids pool is brilliant. We had room service several times and ate in the lounge bar on another occasion. The food is very good and the choice relatively large. As we were with our daughter we didn’t want to eat in the stubli or the grand restaurant. Our one suggestion for the hotel would be to consider a relaxed brasserie style restaurant that suits families as the other two are very formal and gourmet orientated. The pavilion is open for lunch and coffee during the afternoon in summer and is lovely. We biked along the Val de Roseg which was really stunning and easy with a trailer. The hotel and restaurant at the end is a destination unto itself and was packed. We also biked to the lake of Staz and swam and had a fabulous beach style lunch. The biking trails around Pontresina are great and suitable for the whole family. We also wanted to take a horse and carriage ride but ran out of time. Although the hotel is quite grand, the staff are formal but friendly and the feel is actually that of a much smaller hotel. We love it there, particularly for the facilities and area. Can’t wait to go back.

Hotel's Favorite
The hotel is beautiful and and the pool area is fantastic, but what sets this hotel apart is the incredible staff. They made us feel like we were their most important guests and I am sure they made everyone else feel the same way. They were helpful, accommodating and interesting to talk to. We can't wait to return!

This is our third stay in this hotel located in the heart of Pontresina. The hotel is still as beautiful as ever: palace-like, very impressive, with high ceilings, "old style" bar and dining-room. What we still love in this hotel are the beautiful rooms (we had one on the sixth floor) with a great smell of woods when you enter...The spa is still very impressive and well-maintened and cleande. Great fitness room with state-of-the art equipment. Very convenient undergroung parking with enough space and electric chargers upon request. Unfortunately, we found the service not to be at the level of our previous stays and not up to a 5 star hotel. A few examples: - as they abolished the phenomenal buffet we used to love (Thanks to Covid), we had to order. On the first morning, we had to wait for more than 40 minutes, which is quite annoying when you have a programme. As we decided to order breakfast in the room to avoid this to repeat, we were very disappointed that it arrived more than 30 minutes late (ordered at 8:45, arrived at 9:15...). - We asked three times for different Nespresso capsules (they only gave us weak ones or decaffeinated). They gave it once but at everytime room cleaning they gave us the ones we did not like. We went to St-Moritz ourselves to buy the (standard, strong) ones we like - It was annoying to have either the cleaning trolley or the vacuum cleaner in front of our room the whole day - Room cleaning was ok but no effort was made to make the room look good (curtains not drawn, nothing "special"). - Even though we stayed for a whole week in one of the best suites did anyone recognize us at the front desk and everytime we had to reapeat our room number... In conclusion, it remains a great hotel but management should not rest on its laurels. Looking at the awards at the entrance, most of them date back to between 2008 and 2016 and it would be high time to win some new ones!

My wife and I stayed there for 4 nights in January 2020. We stayed in a small room and we had taken the half board service. Everything was very good but not everything was excellent. The service in the main restaurant (where we were entitled to our generous dinner) was not great every night. We did not like being put in the wings of the restaurant rather than the center which was where we were being asked to go at breakfast and at night. We had to argue once with Maitre De so that we no longer had to sit at what we felt was an eccentric location. the food itself was quite nice however even though it would have been nice to have been given more of a choice. The salad buffet and a desert was a nice touch on the nights they were offered. It may have been nice to also offer a barbecue/grill night for a change to the prepared dishes that were on offer. Plus the cleaning service in the rooms was not always the best I have ever seen. However, there was nothing that made me not want to return to the hotel. I especially appreciated the convenience of the car service that took us to the slopes and back to the hotel as well as have a ski locker. The spa was also quite fabulous with pools and many saunas and hammams. We enjoyed them all and special compliments to the lady who put on a little show in the Sauna. In any case, it is a hotel well worth visiting whenever next we are allowed to travel.

Don’t get me wrong, the Kronenhof is a wonderful classic grand hotel. Beautiful property, good service, friendly staff. So why not 5 stars? Maybe it has to do with my expectations: Kronenhof is routinely voted as one of the top hotels in Switzerland; hence, my expectations were high. The room, while comfortable and having loads of storage space, was rather on the small side - I would definitely recommend not taking the cheapest category room. Service was all in all great but not perfect: complimentary water was not re-stocked on one side of the bed at turn down one night, a towel was missing once and a minor issue with the bill - all admittedly minor - details but just added up to the experience. Breakfast was nice but have seen better at hotels of this category. Staff is very friendly, particularly the guys at the front door/valet were extraordinary - they already had your room key (still a real old school key and not a keycard) ready when you pulled up. Don’t take this review the wrong way - the cons were ultimately minor; all in all we have enjoyed our stay and will very likely be back.
